The Duke Hotel

Hotel has a shuttle to Main attractions since it is not too close to the city center

The hotel was excellent, very beautiful and breakfast was amazing. Our room was just what we needed after a long travel day, wish we could have had a longer stay, it was quiet, the room was well appointed. It is a bit out of the way from seeing many of the sights, which would be the only downside.

Though I don't usually write reviews, our experience at the Duke was so positive, I couldn't help but share our recent experience. The hotel staff was very courteous, responsive, and helpful. Laura, our hostess at breakfast, was particulary friendly and enthusiastic. Though the location is not central, it is a long walk, or short cab ride away from most of the main tourist sites. A strong plus for the location is that is located up in a residential hill, very quiet and peaceful retreat for the evening. Internet was good, but slower than I would have liked, but far better than anywhere else we stayed at during our trip through Italy. We will definitely stay here again, when in Rome. Highly recommended!

Great hotel, bad location. The staff are good If I back to rome, I will go again

The Hotel was quite comfortable and quaint. The shuttle to the piazza was good for our needs, but there was no shuttle to the airport as advertised which was one of the main reasons we booked at the Duke to begin with. Wake up call was requested and not received which could have made us late to catch our flight if we hadn't woke up ourselves. No alarm clock. Breakfast was nice.

Hotel is tucked away in a nice hilly suburb; which is not an easy walk to city center. However hotel provided free shuttle every half an hour or so to the center. There are few scattered restaurant in the area but we have not tried any. Hotel is big old building which is well maintained. Staff are professional overall and spoke fair English. The rooms are air conditioned, but guest cannot control temp. It is either on hot temp in winter/spring or cold in summer. We had to leave the windows open since it got pretty warm in the couple of nights we spent over there. Breakfast buffet was good overall.

This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Before I start I would like to say that most of the staff was extremely helpful and polite. With that being said there were some staff that favor Italian guests. This hotel is advertised as a 4-star hotel, but is maybe the equivalent of a 2-star motel, but has 4-star prices. The bed is as hard as the floor and the sheets feel like cardboard. There is a tiny tv that had 2 English channels. The mini bar is extremely overpriced, and there is no where close to get any snacks/drinks. The dinner options are extremely slim, horrible food and way overpriced. The internet situation is horrible. You have to have an active cell phone that can receive texts, and the code is only good for 24 hours so you have to go through the hassle everyday. If you don't have a cell phone the front desk has to call and that can take up to 2 hours. I would never stay here again or recommend it to anyone. The hotel is really far away from everything. The shuttle is nice to get you to sort of center city, but horrible trying to get back to the hotel. You have to schedule your pickup, but it is hard to know when you are going to be ready to go back to the hotel while you are our exploring the city.

Nice comfortable hotel conveniently located. The staff was courteous

Buen hotel, limpio, excelente desayuno pero lejos del centro

It was a very nice hotel that was convenient to some places I wanted to see. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I have had - fantastic! We were somewhat disappointed with the lunch menu and times. Since we had just arrived from the states, we primarily used the room to "crash" in before heading off for our cruise the next day. The "common areas" were appointed well.

The first room that I was given was not for me. I told the staff at the desk that I was not happy with it. I was then given another and I was very pleased. There was nothing wrong with the first room actually it was larger with an extra window. I had a problem with the view of pipes and a wall. After that it was smooth sailing. The breakfast was awesome , fresh varied, delicious and plentiful. The staff was friendly and willing to help. The computer room was beautiful complete with a shower, sink and toilet! I loved the decor all over the hotel. It had old world feel. Classy and elegant. The shuttle was very convenient just remember to make your reservations. Once you got the hang of it, it's a breeze. I can't wait to return and this is where I will stay.

Our stay at "The Duke" hotel could not have been any better. Everyone was very helpful with helping, directing us to our questions of places to see(even in english). I would love to go back one day. Our 30 year anniversary was a dream come true. Grazie.

El hotel es hermoso, lujoso y ofrece unos excelentes desayunos. Se encuentra alejado pero tienen un servicio de transfers gratuitos hasta la plaza de Popolo. El servicio de internet deja mucho que desear, es muy dificil de conectarse.

We didn't know what to expect about a 4-star hotel in Rome but were pleasantly surprised. A free shuttle takes you from the hotel's quiet location to the center of Rome's tourist attractions. The breakfast was good and varied. For less than $70 per night, we were impressed.

The Duke Hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood of Rome, not close to the center and the tourist attractions. The hotel offers a free shuttle to the city, but it is quite limited. The staff is very friendly and try to help. The room was not a 4 star hotel room. The room facilities were minimal and fit a 2 star hotel. I expected for better value to my money

We enjoyed our stay at the Duke and plan to stay again on our next visit - excellent value. Nice to be in a quiet location after a long day sightseeing. The location is a bit remote, but the hotel shuttle and the Metro help a lot.

We have enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Breakfast is good with a great deal of choice. Rooms are not too big, not too small with all the amneties. Only issue is it is not close to downtown. Hotel does have a free shuttle.

This place is clean and close to a few restaurants within walking distance. It is a little away from the main attractions but they offer a free shuttle into town and will pick you up as well, just be sure to make reservations.

My wife and I were anticipating a smaller "European" hotel room, but we were blown away by the size of our "superior double" room. The room was a nice size with a balcony and a large bathroom. The closet was enormous! We enjoyed our stay and found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. One of the shuttle drivers - Luigi - was great! The shuttle to the Piazza del Popolo was great for getting closer to the city, but having to reserve a shuttle back to the hotel could be inconvenient for some. We ended up buying a cheap cell phone in Italy so that we could call and request the shuttle at whatever time suited us instead of having to make the reservation in advance and potentially feel rushed to make it back to the piazza at the end of the day. Although there's nothing to prevent somebody from going back and forth between the hotel and the piazza throughout the day, it doesn't seem like the best use of time. We found it best to leave the hotel with plans to stay out for most of the day.

it was very good hotel, very good breakfast. far from the city
