Great location to all of the major attractions, including one block from the Pantheon. Several restaurants to choose from in the immediate area. The room was large for European standards and the maid did a good job keeping it clean/replenish towels. There is a free morning buffet that is perfect to fill up on food to give you energy for the day. There is not a full time front desk person and you have to pay a $3.50 pp/per day tax in cash at the end of your stay. Overall great property to stay at in Rome
This property is not run like a traditional hotel. There is no lobby as other reviewers have pointed out. There is a check in room that remains locked most hours. I messaged ahead and told them when I would be arriving in the evening, and there was indeed someone to meet me there. I was a bit confused how to get inside, there are large double doors which are locked. I had to ask one of the waiters at the restaurant next door, kind of awkward with all my luggage and a bunch of diner's looking at me. I checked in and on the way to the room the gentleman , who was very nice, informed me as a precursor that my room had no view. I was immediately kind of disappointed recalling all the beautiful room pictures online. By requesting a twin room on a travel site , I kind of expected the lower class room anyhow. The room was very clean, but I was slapped in the face with a terrible sulfur like odor upon entry. There was a window but the glass was frosted, as it looked out onto the roof of the restaurant next door. The room was very basic , I could have paid less for a room like this elsewhere in Rome. The sulfur smell seemed to be concentrated to the bathroom, so I tried to keep the bathroom door closed while I was there. I'm afraid it could be sewage? Maybe something from the restaurant next door, but it didn't smell like food. There is a very nice breakfast spread every morning, a very nice Filipino woman helps you with food and drink and any questions you have
Very good location. The staff was extremely accommodating!
This hotel was a hidden gem! It is gorgeous with amazing staff! We could not have been happier with this experience. So glad we took a chance on a small hotel!!
A stone's throw from the Parthenon. Amazing location right in the heart of Rome. Clean, modern, and extremely affordable. Loved the complimentary minibar and breakfast.
If you're looking for a non-traditional room that's stylish, spotless, affordable and absolutely charming, look no further...Relais Meddalena is just the place! In addition to a perfectly appointed room, you will enjoy the location - one block from the Pantheon, a delicious european breakfast and exceptional service. With only 2 short nights in Rome, my husband and I had a wonderful experience thanks in large part to staying here. We had a room overlooking the piazza below where musicians serenaded us while drinking our chianti...we felt like we were in a movie![...] and staff are wonderful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Without question, we'll stay here when we return to Rome as well encourage others to do the same. Thanks, [...]!

Hello and thank you for your review. Apologies from the smell, that was fixed finally but we needed replacements parts that were hard to find so it took us a bit longer than thought. You stayed in a single room which did not come with a panoramic view, but as I explained you at your arrival, you could reach easily the terrace in the public space just a few meters from your room to enjoy a beautiful view outside onto the piazza. We would have upgraded you with pleasure to a larger room, but unfortunately May is the high season for us and we did not have any availability. Thank you again for choosing our hotel, we hope that you have enjoyed your stay and the city and will come back in the future. Best wishes,
Very good location. The staff was extremely accommodating!
Thank you for your feedback! Looking forward to seeing you back soon
