I got a taxi from Termini train station to the hotel, and after arriving, the cab driver said his tax meter was not working, so he was charging me 20 Euros for a few blocks. He said that was the regular tariff from Termini to Windrose Hotel, so I got inside the hotel to ask the hotel staff if that was a reasonable rate. The person at the reception said that it was not his problem, and if the cab driver wanted 20 Euros for a 5 blocks ride, then I should pay him. Very unfriendly and unhelpful staff. You can walk from the hotel to Termini train station if you do not have luggage, it is a 10 to 15 minutes walk. If you have luggage, you can still make it, but you will have to carry your luggage through two blocks of cobblestone pavement, cross a busy street, and go up and down a couple sidewalks. The rooms are average size for a budget hotel in Rome, the beds were comfortable though. The bathroom is small even for Rome standards, I am thin, and I had to sit tightly against the wall in the toilet. The breakfast room is too small with only a few tables. I stayed three days, and two of them there were people in line waiting for other people to finish breakfast so that they can get it. The hotel is located at two blocks from a very nice philipine restaurant and a peruvian restaurant, both good choices. We tried to book 2 rooms at this this hotel on booking.com, but it was rejected. So we made the reservation directly with the hotel and it was OK. When we arrived to the hotel, they told us we had a double reservation, so instead of 2 rooms, we had 4 rooms booked. They gave us just 2 rooms, but charged us one night for the other two rooms. I claimed booking.com, and they said that it was up to the hotel to decide if they returned me my the money. I claimed the hotel, and they said it was up to booking.com to decide if they returned me the money. Since booking.com had already paid to the hotel, it was the hotel that had to return the money to booking so that booking can return it to me, but they just won't do it. Anyway, I do not recommend you to stay at this hotel, it was the worst part of our visit to a wonderful and amazing city.
This hotel was perfect for our 3 day stay! The rooms were nice and clean and the staff was super nice and helpful! It has a nice central location right next to the terminal that has both trains and subway that takes you anywhere you need to go to Rome as well as A wonderful Terrace that we could enjoy wine at the end of our day to Skype our loved ones. Paolo the receptionist went above and beyond helping us find where to go, pointing us to great restaurants and even mailing our postcards for us. When in Rome the WindRose hotel is a must!!
What a great friendly hotel! Comfotable rooms and very beautiful terrace! Paolo made our trip! He went put of his way to make us feel at home and was always helpful in making sure we knew where we going and the best places to go! Highly recommend!
We took a van from the airport for the five of us for 12€ each and that was a bargain. I think the bus is 5 and the train is 10 but that would mean a trek after arriving at the train terminal. We were greeted warmly and given suggestions for dinner. We had three twins in one room and two in the other, perfect configuration. Rooms are typical European size, small but adequate. Nice neighborhood with a market nearby and the train station close too. Free breakfast was very comprehensive: meats, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit, cereals, breads to toast and best of all, a great selection of pastries. Cappuccino is great plus Coffee Americano for the faint of heart. The bright red orange juice was amazing, A wonderful experience.
Average room but good location. Great staff, especially Paulo. He provided us with good directions and recommendations, taking care of all our needs. The breakfast here is also quite good. This hotel is very close to Rome Termini station and bus tours. There is a great family restaurant across the street called La Famiglia. We highly recommend it.
The best aspects of this hotel are: proximity to the train station, beautiful entryway decor, lovely breakfast, and knowledgeable staff. Unfortunate aspects: the bed did not come with a real blanket. In fact, it matched the sheets in our room with design and fabric...very bizarre. The pillows were also very poor, so just not a great sleep. Overall, a very sufficient hotel for a quick trip to Rome.
Very welcoming. This place was clean and good location. Staff is helpful and Olivia gave great advice for us to set up our day with maps. The shower is somewhat awkward especially if your tall. Breakfast buffet is ok
We booked the Windrose Hotel based on the reviews posted, however, our experience was nothing like the reviews posted. We were disappointed with the room service for eg we asked for a blanket and 2 extra pillows - this request was met with a very slack response, we were asked why we wanted 2 pillows as opposed to the one each supplied. Wherever we have stayed in Hotels we have never had to ask for two pillows for a starter and if, and I don’t recall when, we were given the pillows graciously and without question. We also asked for a blanket as we were cold, again the response was the same, non-compliant and basically rude. We arrived back to our room mid week of our stay to discover we only had clean sheets but no blanket or quilt. Thankfully we checked and discovered that our bedspread had been folded and put away along with the blanket, but they were put away in the wardrobe, which again is unusual. If we hadn’t checked we would have assumed that both the blanket and the bedspread had been taken by the staff. Wherever we have travelled we have never encountered the above ie a negative attitude to our requests which I don’t believe were unreasonable.
this being my third visit to this hotel. Not much has changed over the years, it still has the very small breakfast room. this is the only down side to this hotel. The location is great good eating place across the road and another just round the corner. Also it's within easy walking to most of the major attractions within Rome (save a packet on taxi fares) Hotel is clean and in some ways basic, this is reflected in the price.
We stayed 5 nights in Rome at the Windrose Hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, giving advice about tours and places to visit. Rooms were tiny, but I think most hotel rooms in Rome are. It was a very reasonable rate and the hotel was within walking distance to shopping, dining and attractions.
