This hotel was our first stop in Italy on our way to our cruise ship. It was a great location, quiet area right on the ocean. We rented two suites that have not been updated lately, not sure what the hotel rooms are like. The pool, hot tub and beach were wonderful.

The area is beautiful but the hotel is in desperate need of some TLC. The air-conditioning was unable to be controlled and when we asked, they said that it was on a timer and would start cooling at 7pm. Totally not true. It was hot and humid and we just wanted some nice air conditioning, which we didn't ever get. Breakfast was ok. Beds were ok but bathrooms needed some remodeling. Not WiFi in rooms, just in the lounge at the front desk.

I to think the rooms were a little tired and the hotel in general could do with a little TLC, however the rooms were very clean, the breakfast was very good and a wide choice of foods more than adequate. The staff were very pleasant. The restaurant, the service was excellent and the food fab. The resort was not lively and I would recommend a car as there are some lovely places around also its an hour from Rome on train so handy for day in Rome.

The Hotel is tired and also is in an area with absolutely nothing to do. In fact, Santa Marinella really has no center and is a sprawling 2-3 kilometer village at the side of a rocky coast line. Breakfast is good, the rooms are tired and the pool area is very tatty and perhaps wouldn't pass Health and Safety. The staff are very friendly and make the best of it. But this is NOT a 4* Hotel.

Our expectations after 4 days in hectic Rome was to relax and enjoy the beach. The beds were good and cleaning okay, but this is were it stops. Next to our balcony there was a generator making noise 24 hours a day. Breakfast was average. We were 3 persons. When we went to the so called beach (there was no sand, only stones) we were allowed 2 sunbeds. I asked how this can be and we finally got the third. Staff mostly seemed annoid especially the breakfast lady. Very disappointing!

Very sad hotel.. If you look at reviews, you will find out that it comes out quite nice in rating, but only because of the location.. Read the info! The room was not clean, it was actually quite disgusting.. . The minibar awful. Dirty sink in bathroom (could easily be cleaned with water and sope, if anyone had bothered), urin around the bidè. Filthy carpet on the floor (with cut of nails, and trash), when was it last vaccumed? Lots of small aunts on the floor, both in bathroom and main room (look at the peanut we dropped..) Things fell of the wall in the bathroom, and when we arrived, there was no water at all. Toilet partly functioning, and we had to fix it every time we used it. This stay was part of our honeymoon. Air-condition was our demand, looking for hotels. And where does it say that it is only part-time aircondition?? We had to say it so many times, PLEASE turn it on. At daytime, it was always turned off between 09 and 14. Not possible with a siesta in the room. And often it was stopped other times as well. We were not the only ones complaining, and they always promised it would be turned on. But when?.... Shower had a massasje-system, but there is no stopping the water, that spreads right out of the shower! All room got wet when we tried it.. Not very welcoming staff. It took an hour to check in. A few hours after checking in (after finding the status of the room, no aircondition, and no water and so on), we wanted to leave. We had already pre-paid for 4 nights, and offered to pay for only one night, if they could please let us go, and get our money back for the rest of the nights. They refused. Expected no less after the meeting with this staff... Disappointed over, saying this was a 4 star. They would not help us to find a better hotel. How did this get 4 stars? It has a very nice location, and the view from our room was amazing, but that alone does not give an old, warn out hotel a 4 star evaluation. On the positive side, it was a great view (we paid extra for balcony with sea-view), towels for beach, sun-beds included and the location by the beach. Recommend you strongly to go to Civitavecchia, much more to see, restaurants, lovely sights, and better hotels. We have traveled so much around Europe, always try to look at the positive side, but it was harder this time.

We only stayed here for 2 nights (1 either side of a cruise into a local port). We were a party of 14 and on the first night the bar and restaurant were closed. It was just before the holiday season started so you'd think they'd want the business from us! By the time we came back after our cruise 11 days later the bar did open at 11am, but they ran out of cold beer after 4 out of 14 of us had ordered! They made up the prices as they went along and we eventually went to a bar around the corner. The restaurant was open this time, it opened at 7:30pm, but the service was awful. There were only 4 tables in the whole place and we waited at least 20 minutes to be asked what drinks we wanted. They attempt to be gormet for a very tatty restaurant so the food is expensive. I don't like fish so there were only about 4 meals I would have, so I settled for a small lamb rib at €22. How they cope in the height of the season is beyond me. The breakfast? Don't even bother. The rooms were dated and tatty and the pool was filled with grime when we first arrived. The 'private beach' is just stones out of season which they cover with sand in summer. I would not recommend this hotel for more than one or two nights. It is a 20 minute walk to a nice beach and area with restaurants and bars, but as we had elderly members in our party we were restricted. There really isn't much nearby at all which is a shame as the hotel was such a disappointment.

Don't ever ever go to this place! My sister and I had booked this hotel thinking it would be a nice relaxing break after being in the city. As per information & photos show lovely clean setting, fresh pool , private beach access, gorgeous restaurant & bar, jacuzzi an clean modern rooms, this is NOT what we received. Upon arrival, hotel was dirty looking, an very much empty, when checking in we were told the restaurant, bar, pool, jacuzzi, an everything else are closed! Why did they allow the booking knowing we can't even get a bottle of water or food! We were told if we wanted to eat, there's a pizza place somewhere around!! If i wanted pizza I'd of stayed in Rome where it's everywhere, we came for the fresh fish dinners, sunset setting while sipping on wine. I was disgusted with this. We decided to check the bedroom an at least see if we can save some of this trip. Walk into room an immediately hit with a stink of urine ! It was awful. Then the bed itself was awful looking and no way I'd sleep init, the balcony was dirty with cheap plastic chairs, an to top off the room ... NO RUNNING WATER FOR SO MUCH AS A SHOWER !! What a joke , the view was off the closed down restaurant an pool , rubbish even floating in the pool, was very dirty looking. An nearest beach access was 15min walk away . The end of result was we couldn't stay in this nightmare of a hotel. Upon checking out, we explained to the reception how unhappy we were an asked for a refund. We did not get this refund, but to make matters worse the reception told us they knew all along there was no water in the hotel!! How can you have guests stay in this kip and can't even eat, drink or shower , paying 95e a night !!! I have never seen anything this bad. And I'm not picky, IV stayed in better hostels. Disgraceful

I am currently studying in Rome and wanted to try my first solo overnight trip. This place was recommended to me by a girlfriend who had also stayed here by herself the month before. I figured it would be an easy, enjoyable trip for my first time traveling alone. The hotel was very easy to find from the train station, and the staff was incredibly welcoming, especially at the front desk, which made me feel comfortable since this was a new experience for me. I stayed for one night in October, on a weekend when there was still some sun and nice weather. Given the season, the hotel was pretty quiet, but that was fine with me. The beach is beautiful, and the pool area is very nice, with a great view. The restaurant at the hotel offered excellent seafood dishes, and I again received fabulous service. I never felt out of place sitting alone. Free wi-fi in the room was a plus. For the price, I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone looking for a beach weekend away from Rome.

Santa Marinella is a beautiful resort which feels like you've stepped back in time. The hotel is relatively small, staff are very friendly and all areas are spotlessly clean. The pool, bar and beach are all right next to each other just across the road from the hotel which makes for a really relaxing stay. The rooms in the residence are old-fashioned and run down but perfectly serviceable. The shower is tiny and there is no kettle, toaster or hairdryer but reception provided a hairdryer when requested. The hotel is a little walk away from most of the restaurants/shops but there is a supermarket and a few shops on the road behind. If you want to have a thoroughly relaxing holiday, right on the beach with amazing food and your room is just a bed for the night - book this hotel. Also only a 40min €5 train ride into Rome!
