If you love adventure, rural, rustic and a homey atmosphere, this is the place for you. Enjoy hot tub, sitting around a fire and meeting new people. I would recommend bringing your own food to cook or eat before arriving, as there no near restaurants. You do share a bathroom with other guests and rooms are very basic with no TV . The place to go if you love peace and quietness.

Wonderful place, wish we could stay for a week or more. So much to do. Great decor. Wake up to roosters. Access is a little tricky, but just follow signs. May want to note in the descriptions that Deer room doesn't have an ensuite bathroom

This was one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in. I would give it a 10 if possible. The owners made you feel welcome and were very accommodating. Room and property was better than advertised! Its remote location along with a lake front on property was awesome. The fact that they had kayaks/canoes for guests to use was such a pleasant surprise. I loved just sitting in the hammock by the lake and watching the birds. My son loved kayaking on the lake. I loved not having to unload my kayak. I wish I booked a longer stay here. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a break from our busy lives.
Son kayaking on lake. (his kayak). I used Bear lodge kayak to paddle with him which was wonderful.
view from picnic table at lake front
View from bathroom Moose room. Able to see sunrise and sunset through windows.

Not a hotel. Try it… you’ll like it.

Long dirt road to get there… but worth it. Very comfortable beds. Clean. Owner extremely friendly and accommodating. Hot tub, firepit, pool table. Bathroom across the hall.

It was very quiet, and very clean. The owners were very nice. If you wanted to cook, there was a huge gourmet kitchen. The only thing I didn't care for was the bed. It was memory foam but not very supportive.

Loved our room, very clean, bathroom was awesome and we slept like babies. Only negative was head board was hard and pillows not plump and big enough to sit up in bed comfortably. Josh & Vianca were so hospitable and were available for any questions, etc. we had a wonderful restful week, would definitely return. 10 out of 10!

Ideal for a relaxing week or family reunion. We used Waze to direct us there after dark. It quit in the middle of nowhere. I called the property phone and Josh led us in and met us as we pulled in. He carried in our luggage and showed us around. Very gracious.

Relaxing stay

We enjoyed this oasis of quiet and stillness more than anticipated. Josh had very welcoming and it was easy to slip into a few days vacation at Bear Mountain Lodge. The rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable. Escaping humidity and the mundane-ness of hotel stays was our goal, but we didn’t appreciate how the lodge helps you to stop and slow down. We used the kayaks, kitchen facilities and outdoor areas which were well maintained. Josh and Bianca were great hosts and we recommend a visit!

Quiet gem in the woods

A wonderful unexpected find along our trip north on rt 1. A few miles off the main rd, paved, unpaved, paved. The owner was very pleasant and made us feel welcomed. There are 3 suites in the main lodge. Ours had a private bath down the hall. The kitchen was huge and is shared by all visitors. Bring your own food and drinks. The closest food is Eastport, Calais or Lubec. Take time to enjoy a canoe or kayak trip on the local lake, few min drive through yhe woods. The lodge was clean and well maintained and the bed was so comfortable.

The lodge is in the middle of nowhere. If you like that kind of thing, you will love it. Food is a long way away so eat before you go in or carry some groceries with you. You can use the kitchen.
