Grand Bahia Principe Coba - All Inclusive

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

The resort is large and spread out. Very hot in the lobby. They did make an accommodation for us traveling as a family to have side by side rooms. Our room was good sized since all suites hotel but the AC didn't work ran all the time. Called maintenance and they made the AC even worse only got only to 78 degrees. They tried to fix again but nothing changed. We didn't want to move since couldn't get another side by side room in a different building. Beach was bad with seaweed all over. This is all over Riviera Maya this year. They try to clean but it's just too much. Food was good especially the restaurants. Good drinks with Jack and Jim available. Pools were clean and plenty of chairs availble.

Pros: - clean room, good testy fruits I assume local grown, but overall food is just OK Cons: - unclean dishware, silverware, glassware at the buffet, the floor was slippery always oily, quite a few times almost slipped down - rude service from some of the buffet waiters - the worse air conditioning in the buffet and everywhere. But one of the worse buffets was the Tulum buffet, OMG the smell of rotten meat was scary. - the internet was very weak, download will be 5-15 min. Also the connection would not last more then 24h, after that you have to reconnect again. Just to connect to the internet a user will have to input the room number confirmation number and a lot of sensitive information, a horrible way to let a user connect to internet, when it should be as simple as possible - hotel lacks a business center, so we could not checkin for our flight - roads structure are very confusing, so if you like to walk like us you will get lost easily - Bahia Tours takes no responsibility over their mistakes and their customer experience is the worse. They will drag your time and you will lose days trying to meet with one of their supervisor that will not show up at the agreed time. We lost one day and a half trying to talk to them to clarify the issues during our tour(we were kicked out of the Tulum Ruins by S Guards bc the tour guide did not give us tickets). - light power will turn off - towel aren't served at the beach, so you have to carry it with you - smokers everywhere

Unlike other reviews, beach was decent, and they work hard to clear the seaweed. Grounds are pretty, but everything seemed understaffed- every bar had a line of 7-10 people, and there was never more than one bartender there. Buffets were sparse and rarely replenished. Specialty restaurants were mediocre at best. Large resort, but trams run frequently. Decent entertainment. We have stayed at dozens of Mexican all inclusives, this one seemed severely understaffed, and may have other management issues. Food was a major downside

Great resort! Alot of fun things to do great for families and couples.

Far from airport, can't see the beach from the Coba facility, have to take trolley ride to get around resort, Shows were basically the same every night, Staff was rude, rooms were dirty, ants all over the room, couldn't get reservations for restaurants that they said were all booked up but actually ever night were dead empty couldn't understand that. Would never stay here again. The only part I liked was the beach.

We enjoyed our stay very much and the staff are always working very hard to make your stay a good one.

It is my fourth stay in all inclusive in Mexico and this one was a disappointment. Rooms need some remodeling and maintenance we even found a mouse in our room one night. Staff is not attentive as our previous trips you always have to ask and wait 15 minutes especially at breakfast and some even are rude. Not proactive when you ask someone if it is not their department they ask you to call the front desk. The restaurants a la carte was limited to 3 unexpected from an all incluse and first time I experienced it.

Small maintenance issues, but overall it is a good value for the price.

This Hotel is not close to the beach. Must take a shuttle for 10 minutes or so. The worst part about this hotel is the restaurant staff. They are all very rude and not accommodating at all, especially close to closing time. Service is slow and you are made to feel like a nuisance. Bartenders are nice but very understaffed. Always long waits for drinks.

First of all this has been one of the biggest resorts I have been to making it completely overwhelming on top of it being 1.5 hours away from Cancun Airport. It consisted of four hotels not including the golf course located on the opposite side. I booked my trip for Grand Bahia Coba in Tulum, Mexico but when I arrived I was told that they were overbooked therefore giving a free promotion of upgrading me and my other 2 friends (FOR FREE) to a room in the Luxury Grand Bahia Si'an Ka'an which was adults only, NO PROBLEM! Coba was more family friendly and only offered access to 2 of the 4 hotels as opposed to Si'an Ka'an where you have access to all hotels, pools, and beaches; as well as having Wi-Fi available everywhere. The only thing bad about it being such a big property you had to travel around in buggies to any part of the hotel. The beaches and pools were clean, liquor could have been better and the food was regular (unless you eat at the restaurants, some staff were friendly other's seemed lost whenever you asked for directions.

Kids water park was the best part of the hotel and both kids loved every minute of it. The pools are great, lot s of choices. Food is average, but the staff was the best.

We didn't have a nice staff at the front desk, Bryan was rude and didn't help us with courtesy also we had to wait at the end for 1 hour to get somebody to help us with the luggage, I called around 15 times to the reception and they only answered the phone once after that I wait 1 hour and after an hour I called the concierge phone # 28880 I believe and they came in 5 minutes I asked them and they said from the front desk didn't tell anything to them.

Everything was nice. The hotel is family friendly and eveeybody is nice. The food at rhe brazilian restaurant is super good.

good hotel about 1 1/2 hr from airport .. staff try their best to make you feel confortable. nice beach nice pool good drinks perfect... i left my camera in the pool and someone returned it to the front desk. the desk returned my camera..

Although not on the beach, it is very close (3 min shuttle). The pools, restaurants and other facilities are 5 star. This is a fantastic value.

Easy to get around. Room right next to pool and kid play pool. Frequent shuttled to the beach. Great food selection at buffet.

Room was old and outdated. Stains on sheets, walls, ceilings. Bed was extremely uncomfortable and hard. It had an old piece of foam on the top of it. I am not a large person and normally can sleep anywhere but I had difficulty sleeping each night and woke up with a sore back each morning. Noticed things all over the hotel that needed repair or updating. Not impressed with cleanliness and overall condition of the hotel. The beach was not the beautiful beach you'd expect to see. It was small, crowded and not picturesque. The beach is normally my favorite spot to hang out but my husband and I only spent an hour total at the beach. One major complaint is the amount of smokers. I cannot be around cigarette smoke and we had to walk through smoke to get into any building. No matter where we went (pool, lobbies, waiting for transportation, etc) we had to stand/sit in smoke. It would be nice to have designated smoking areas. Food was ok, my husband loved the sushi at the buffet. We were disappointed at the variety of snacks and room service items. Entertainment was better than expected, I would say it was above average. We have stayed at many places near Cancun and compared to the others this was just ok. We will not be returning.

My boyfriend and I spent 5 days at Coba right before Christmas. It was wonderful! The lobby was beautifully decorated with holiday cheer which I thought was really special. The staff at Coba is unparalleled. They are so kind and welcoming always ready to help you! Jose, the bartender at Hibyscus, is fantastic! The food was good too! Check out Mikado and le gourmet! The entertainment staff is also amazing. They seem to work long shifts but they had the best attitudes and are always cheerful and energetic.

Great staff, very clean, great time. First time and it exceeded our expectations. Will definitely be going back.

The price was excellent and the weather was great. It was a honeymoon trip for the wife and I. The hotel was great and the staff very helpful. We will definitely be coming back again.
