I stayed in the hotel with a big group in August. The hotel is far from 4 star as they say. The mattresses are dirty, the bathrooms are really bad, the ac is noisy and the safety box not always working. The worst is the management who is dishonest and making extra charges where ever they can. Our client had checked out but the front desk did not register it. After 3 days another client checked in and the hotel accused us of over booking. The issue was solved right the next morning. In addition the rooming list with all the check in and check out dates were delivered the hotel in advance. First the management said we have to pay one extra night but at the end they changed it for 2. So the client stayed 8 ours before the thing was solved but we paid for two extra nights, more than 300 euros a night. I have never seen so bad customer service and so lousy management. At last, I want to thank Raphael, who is working as a bell boy. He is super helpful and he speaks really good English!

I was in the Royalty Copacabana Hotel during Rio Olympic Games for 3 weeks. Cost was "Olympic": US$ 300 for a standard double room. They claims to be a 4 star hotels, but it is a maximum 3 star average hotel. Beds are worst than in a hostel. Restaurant service is terrible, although prices are really expensive. Washing a t-shirt cost the same than buying a new one and they give it to you two days later. It was the first time in my life than I didn't receive towels during two days in a hotel (I don't say "change towels", I say "give me towels"). They charged me 15 rials per day for internet, but it never worked. (Compare: with 50 rials I had internet and phone calls in my mobile for 5 weeks with Claro company, and the hotel charged me 15 rials per day for the worst internet in the world). It has been really the worst hotel that I visited in my life with the highest cost ever.

The hotel claims to be of 4-star standard, while I would give it 2,5 max. The interior is long outdated, and AC in my room made such noice that it was impossible to keep on for long. The safety box could be pulled off its wall mounting and there was no iron available even at request. The location is excellent, just a few blocks from seafront, and with many nice down-to-earth restaurants and bars nearby. Ask for a room facing the mountain behind in order to avoid the noize of traffic at night. Staff was very friendly and efficient.

If you can avoid this hotel, do it. Place is full of mold, you can smell it when you step in. There can be rooms which are quite ok, but mostly they are in bad condition and have strong smell of mold. Some of staff are friendly, the others not. Breakfast was ok compared to this hotels standard in common. Location is the only good thing, its very good, near beach. Wifi didn`t work at all.

Hi. I stayed in your hotel from August 1st to 8th of current year. I was highly motivated and happy for being in Rio for first time and in Olympic time! I had to recognized that the staff were nice. Even though I had the worst staying in my life in any hotel that I had being, (in my record I stayed so far in more than 100 hotels in at least 10 different states or countries). The bathroom was DIRTY with black mold all over shower! I had to treat a foot athlete infection because of that. The bed had bugs, the A/C also had mold and the sink was clogged all the time! I don't consider your hotel have a noticed the bad image and experience provoked that can be spread and stayed in a tourist mind. And it was about cleaniless, something that can be fix more easy than any other structural issue! In my case I would not return to your hotel or any Royalty hotel EVER! I wish your agency could improve this since your country and state of Río de Janeiro is beautiful and magic!

What can I say - apart from the location there is not much good to say about this hotel. The breakfast buffet very poor staff not too friendly, apart from 2 of the, the tall waiter & the female reception staff with the curly hair, she always waved hello. My room was the pits, mould everywhere - air conditioner, mirror, hair dryer, the toilet roll cover, the shower cubicle - what else can I say. The room stank of stale cigarette smoke. They want to charge you for the use of the room safe, and if you do not use it, you sign a waiver to cover loss - does this mean their staff are thieves?

DO NOT STAY HERE!! They do not care about you and the place felt unsafe both in your possessions and your life. 1 night here was 1 night too many. Had booked a stay to include free breakfast and free wifi. Wasn't worth the breakfast and argued about the wifi but I didn't persevere as I wasn't planning to stay. You had to pay for use of the safe in your room and sign a form to accept responsibility for your possessions. Don't let the nice looking lobby fool you - it's tatty and uncared for once you get into the lifts and go beyond. Bad work throughout and dodgy wiring and a horrible stench. This does not deserve it's 4 start rating. It should get a 4 asterisk rating and I feel that even that is too generous!! I'm not normally one to complain or give negative reviews but this place is truly appalling that I had a strong sense of duty to forewarn. Wish I could give this place a zero rating but it won't like me submit this review without one. Grrrr....

Grumpy woman at reception charged me for two nights that had already been paid for. After travelling for 24 hours I was on no mood to argue so I sorted it later. Restaurant was empty late on a Saturday. Food was pretty poor which is probably why. Room was utilitarian but one of the main power sockets was missing a front plate so all in all a bit tatty and in need of a refurb. Only three or four blocks from the beach though so decent location.

It's a very old hotel with a great location and a beautiful view from the rooftop pool. It has nice firm and clean beds. But positives about this hotel basically stop there. It smells bad in rooms and the hotel is not clean overall. The walls and ceilings are especially in bad shape. The AC makes a lot of noise. There are no electrical outlets in rooms. The hotel charges even for hot tap water (from the restaurant outside of breakfast times). At the reception, some receptionists have very poor English, although they are helpful. The breakfast has variety but lacks quality very seriously.

We could not even take a shower on our last day because there was no hot water. The hotel is old, durty, expensive. Breakfast is weak and of bad quality and cheap food . I would not recommend it to anybody. The hotel needs urgent infraestructure reform. How could you posible pay to stay in a hotel at the beach that does not garantee you a shower? Do yourselve a favour and look for another hotel to stay.
