We stayed here for the Rio 2016 Olympics. The modern hotel was right across the beach. Did my morning swim and dined at their breakfast buffet after. the front desk was wonderful as well as the rest of the staff. Kudos to Maria Maria, Fernanda and Joao for doing an excellent job! They recommended many tours which they booked for us. My most favorite one was the helicopter tour overlooking the city of Rio. its a must in Rio

The Copacabana location offered a memorable introduction to Rio de Janeiro. Great views in all directions, and a host of Sucos and lively Botecos within walking distance all added to the experience. Service was efficient when solicited, but regrettably, was rarely offered. Smiles and eye contact were also rare, and the towel supply was only complete on day 1 of our five-day stay. Very good beach service, however, providing chairs, towels and cold water to hotel guests. Exceptional location & good overall experience, but certainly room for improvement.

its ok for the price, poor room quality....................................

Booked the trip at the last moment. Great location of hotel in front of Copacabana beach. Umbrellas/chairs/towels on the beach provided by hotel. Great food at hotel restaurant, fun bar area by the pool on top of hotel with great view. Excellent and helpful staff and concierge. Went to fabellas on a tour, Sugar loaf mountain, and watched the Rio carnival the first night. Make sure to include the roundtrip transportation to and from the hotel, it was well worth it. The only dusty area in the room was the top of closet, just like back home when somebody else cleans the room! Planning to go back next year. Great and fun trip!!

Check all the reviews, but I'll tell you right now that The Rio Pestana is hands down 'the' place to stay in Rio. From the outstanding chic roof bar, to the great rooms & service, to the great beach atmosphere...You won't find more bang for the buck$$!

Quiet and peaceful hotel the people are friendly and willing to help.

Staff was flawless, as was restaurant, bed & linen comfort, free wifi speed, raincan shower, bath products, gym, small outdoor pool, being 10 minute taxi away from shopping. Great breakfast buffet. this is the place where the airline crews stay, and it's safe, a little pricy, but I would stay here again.

For the upcoming Olympics they are going to have to do better. Needs regular KLEENEX box in bath, not two tissues in a bag.Cable TV had hardly any channels in English, borring choices. Maid passed a dry duster over floor , but realy needs a scrubing with H2O !!Buffet was fab, great service. It"s really a 3 star ,as it is in Europe, but pikin"s are hard in RIO , everything is sort of 60"s run down, kind of like South Beach, Miami ,before the re do and glitz . Pool deck and view fab. EVERYTHING food wise is very expensive, European prices, like London or Paris.

Nice place, in Copacabana, good view and included breakfast excellent !!! Negative part, They should have better area knowledge people and capable of speaking English and or Spanish

Location and the pool and views are what sells this hotel. The rooms are very very small and the balcony is tiny! The staff are not helpful and their customer service skills are the worst I have ever experienced. The front desk do not hold any informstion or brochures in local tourist sites, eg Christ Redeemer. When I asked how to get there and if they had any information to give me their response was "no". It takes along time to get served at the pool bar but generally the staff at the pool are a lot more helpful then at reception.

best loction in copacabana.we had a very good time the roof top pool has an amazing view!!!

I really enjoyed the Pestana. The hotel has been nicely renovated with very modern details. The location, if you're looking to stay on Copacabana beach, is ideal. The next time I go to Rio I will likely stay closer to Ipanema as that is where I spent most of my time. However, not knowing much about exactly where to stay when I booked the trip, I don't think I could have done better. If you can negotiate a rate that includes wifi I recommend it. I did not, and was surprised that the cost was $35/day. However, in the end I was glad I didn't pay for wifi every day because there is SO much to see outside of the hotel. The immediate area is safe, particularly during the day. I never felt unsafe around the hotel, Copacabana, Ipanema, etc. There is a decent breakfast buffet every morning, but I recommend you get out and explore all the amazing bakeries (Guerin is nearby, do not miss it) and cafes. The hotel staff was always readily available and eager to make my stay enjoyable. Most even spoke fluent English which was a huge help when asking advice on what to do, where to go and how to get there. Rio is magical. If you stay at the Pestana it will only add to the magic you will experience.

Room was very small, Internet keep going down for hours at a time and was slow overall. Took average 4 to 5 minutes to get the elev. They had one shut down the 6 days I was there. The free breakfast was the same everyday and bad.

The room was very small, it was supposed to be a King bed but was really only a Queen. However the room had a fantastic view of Sugar loaf. Breakfast was included and offered lots of choices. The rooftop pool is fantastic.

The thing the Petana has going for it is the Staff. They are excellent. The hotel itself really needs updating. Small rooms. Best view is from an ocean front room or at the pool. Certainly not worth the money in my opinion.

The location is fantastic, right on the beach and across from the night-time souvenir market. The hotel is beautiful and clean. The staff is helpful and speaks English, including the bell boys. The shortage of irons was a problem. It's not one per room. I almost could not attend a wedding in a proper outfit. Also, no clock was provided. Plan ahead.

Wide room,(They kindly supplied two extra beds for my kids.) Free Excellent breakfast. Nice spa and pool at top. They gave me a free late checkout.

I booked a single (which potentially offered only a twin bed). I expected a shoebox to sleep in. The room I got was very nice. It was small, but small like a standard room in New York. Perfect for just me. It had a full sized bed and, a small balcony looking out into the streets of Rio. It had a very comfortable old world feel to it. I absolutely loved it. The room definitely had a lot of character. The rooftop pool is amazing and a great place to have lunch. The hotel is right across the street from the beach and has its own facilities on the beach. Great service, very clean, incredible location and a great room. There isn't anything else I could have wanted.

The hotel is in a great location, right on Copacobana Beach. The staff is very friendly & helpful, and the front desk staff speak good English. We had an ocean-front suite, which was comfy & spotless. The hotel has its own beach services (towels, umbrellas, etc), a delicious break fast with charming staff. Neighborhood is safe and has all you need--grocery, pharmacy, craft market, restaurants, cinema. We've stayed throughout the US, Europe & Mexico, and this hotel was one of the best.

I spent quite a bit of time searching travel websites for a reasonably priced and comfortable place to stay in Copacabana. I decided to stay at the Pestana because it got good reviews, the pool looked amazing, and it seemed safe (a friend had recently stayed at a hotel with a slightly lower price point in Copacabana and reported that someone had gone through his bags looking for money after he stored his luggage at the hotel). In order to keep the price somewhat reasonable I chose the lowest priced room available at Pestana. When I arrived, I was delighted to find that that Pestana lobby was light-filled, air-conditioned, and decorated in something of a boutique hotel style. The staff were outstandingly warm and helpful throughout. Additionally, without my even asking, they upgraded me to a room with a gorgeous partial view of the beach for the entire 5 nights that I was there (!). The pool was even better than I'd hoped, and the guys who work on the beach were well-organized and helped make the brief periods of beach time I had available really easy and relaxing. The only minor downside was that I thought the floor of my room could have been cleaner and I wish they'd replace the slightly dingy throw rugs in the room. The linens were spotless though and the bed very comfortable, which was what was most important to me. Would definitely recommend this place!
