Storybook Mt Hood Cabin • Wood Stove + Skylights

Summary:

A storybook cabin in the woods of Rhododendron, about fifteen minutes from Mt. Hood's slopes and trailheads.

Inside it's full of character: a wood stove, a black spiral staircase, stained-glass windows, and warm red walls under a vaulted, cathedral-ceiling loft.

• Two bedrooms sleeping up to four

• Skylit queen loft upstairs, a second bedroom downstairs

• One full bathroom plus an upstairs half bath

• Full kitchen, wood stove, A/C, and heat

• Dog-friendly (please add your dog to the reservation)

• On-site parking and a wooded backyard with a picnic table

The Space:

This two-level cabin was clearly built by someone with an eye for character. A black spiral staircase winds up from the living room to a skylit loft bedroom with a queen bed and a half bath. Downstairs there's a second bedroom, a full bathroom with a tub-shower, and an open great room where the living area, dining table, and kitchen flow together under vaulted wood ceilings.

The living room centers on a wood stove and looks straight out into the trees through big windows and a stained-glass sunroom entry. The full kitchen has everything you need to cook a real meal, and the dining table opens onto the patio. Out back, a fenced yard with a picnic table sits among ferns and cedars, with a covered woodshed and paths winding through the maples.

A/C and heat keep it comfortable in any season.

Guest Access:

The whole cabin is yours. Check-in is easy with a front-door lockbox that holds a physical key (it's an old-fashioned key, not a smart lock), and we'll send the code before you arrive. Park on-site to the left of the house or out front. One heads-up: the driveway isn't sized for a 22-foot trailer or another oversized vehicle, so reach out ahead of time if you're towing.

The Neighborhood:

Rhododendron is a quiet, wooded pocket of the Mt. Hood corridor, right between the village of Welches and Government Camp. You can grab pizza and a beer at the Zigzag Inn, coffee down the road, or a sit-down dinner at the Rendezvous in Welches, all within a few minutes' drive.

For the outdoors, Mt. Hood Skibowl is about fifteen minutes up the highway, Timberline Lodge about twenty-five, and Trillium Lake, with its classic mountain reflection, is a short drive in summer. Hiking, the Salmon and Zigzag rivers, and Wildwood Recreation Site are all close by. (Drive times are approximate; check current road and weather conditions in winter.)

Getting Around:

You'll want a car here. The cabin sits just off Highway 26, the main route up to Mt. Hood, so getting to town, trailheads, and the ski areas is straightforward. In winter, carry chains and check road conditions before heading up the mountain. On-site parking fits standard passenger vehicles; let us know before arrival if you're bringing a trailer or something oversized.

Other Things to Note:

Dogs are welcome (please add them to the reservation so we can plan for them). Quiet hours are 10 PM to 7 AM. No smoking indoors. The cabin has a wood stove inside but no outdoor fire pit.

Interaction with Guests:

We're a message away throughout your stay. Reach out anytime through your booking thread and we'll get back to you as quickly as we can, and right away for anything urgent.
The cabin is air-conditioned and features a kitchen and 1.5 bathrooms, and there's space to spread out with 2 bedrooms. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a fireplace, and a coffee maker.
