Elysium Resort & Spa5.0 out of 5.0

I have stayed at Elysium for two weeks with my wife and 18-months old son and overall it was a good experience, even if there are several things to be improved. Room (ground floor) - size is OK, with enough closet space and a nice balcony - cleanliness should be improved quite a bit - the bathroom was large enough, with a bathtub equipped with a shower. Unfortunately, the plexiglass protection meant to prevent water to spill over when taking a shower is practically useless, since it is too small - A/C worked well, even though sometimes it switched intensity on its own Food - the formula proposed by the main restaurant (Emerald) does not make any sense, since it consists of a rich buffet of appetizers, main courses, and desserts, with the addition of an additional main course delivered to the table - overall, the food quality is very good and there is great variety - what I find unacceptable is that if you have a small child, you cannot ask for anything outside the menu. However, it is unthinkable to give a one-year old food such as hamburgers, french fries, and pizza everyday. In other resorts there was a special consideration for children and not seeing any was a huge disappointment General elements - cleaning service was a complete disaster, never on time despite multiple requests to allow our son to sleep - the staff was the real added value, because only rarely have I met so many nice, firendly, and helpful people in the same hotel - the beach is well maintained, with enough space between a spot and the next. Unfortunately Elysium's beach is pebbly and not at all sandy - the pools are quite dirty and we used them only once - the SPA is very nice, with good facilities (pool, jacuzzi, hammam, sauna, showers, ...) - WiFi is available, but is absolutely terrible, since reception is bad in several areas (beach, beach bar, restaurant) and the connection is pretty unstable and slow Price - honestly, an appropriate price for a hotel of this type should be half of what we paid - nevertheless, Elysium appears to be the least expensive resort of the area Overall, I can recommend Elysium because the experience was nice, but I must encourage to step up on a few aspects.
I stayed at the Elysium with my family for 8 nights. The hotel is simply amazing. From the reception staff, to the waiters in the restaurants and housekeepers. Everyone serving you with a smile on their face. I loved the beach with the beach cafe, Fresh restaurant has an amazing menu. The breakfast buffet is very diverse. My room was on the 4th floor main building with a great sea view. Truly unforgettable summer vacation!
In summary this has to be one our best hotels that we have stayed in. Normally a little hesitant of going off standard luxury brand hotels as you quite never know quality. We booked for 7 nights in the Elite Club (I think it was a Junior Suite). This was big enough for 2 adults and 1 child. You could probably fit another child in there. It had 2 bathrooms which is more than sufficient. Elite club you get unlimited drinks, coffee and cakes all day. We were picked up at the airport no issues with the pick up. Check-in in was fast and the room ready and spotless. The cleaning throughout our stay was excellent and towels changed regularly. In fact the whole hotel is so spotless and clean. We booked tennis lessons for our child and the tennis coach was absolutely excellent. Breakfast was excellent as was the service. Extremely efficient. The breakfast for the Elite Club was in a separate roof-top restaurant. There was considerable variety of food. My only negative is the lack of fresh fruit juices, given the hotel is 5 star. Its these small (and false) cost savings that build iteratively over a number of years, that ultimately lead to breakfasts across the world being exactly the same.. Overall quality of service and food in all restaurants in the hotel was excellent. Food was large enough portions, fresh and no stomach upsets. We also had to cater for 2 vegetarians who found the selections on offer more than sufficient. Expect to pay Euro 50-80 for lunch or dinner for 3 people. Its kind of London prices, but may feel expensive for some. Its a luxury hotel so expect to pay similar prices. The evening buffet was excellent but we only went once due to lack of food control and potential to overeat the delicious food. You can go to the main town for dinner, its cheaper and a lot more variety which is what we did some evenings. Bus service runs to town regularly you can also get a taxi. Taxi is supposed to be fixed price into and out of the town. You are probably better off getting a taxi back as the bus can get packed in the evening return. Evenings has mostly great music which if we opened the patio door in the room we could listen to while falling asleep. (Except the evening they had dance music). Beach is pebble, nice enough to swim, but we stayed mainly around the pool. Pool is massive with a small children's pool attached. Extremely clean pool. Service similar or better than Sofitel, Four Seasons.. so at the luxury end of the market. Don't know about watersports as did not do any. There is a big shop on the premises which is good if you need water or other things at cheaper prices. There is lots of foods, drinks and other things. Shop staff extremely helpful and it is stocked with most things you may need. If you cant find what you need then you can go into town. Weather in July is hot so you don't really want to go wondering around during the day. There is nothing immediately close ie walking distance. So bus, taxi or arranged day trip is best. Finally staff are extremely well trained and the overall hotel is extremely well run. Not once did we come across any staff member who did not offer an extremely high level of service.
On top of the wonderful location and facilities of the hotel, we wish to mention the . proffessional and warm staff of the hotel which makes you feel among friends. Staff members like Adamantea. Marilena, Michaelis are only few who makes you feel at home
We are travelling a lot ,usually staying at 5 starts hotels . This hotel is really something special and different . The facility is beautiful , beach and pools are amazing , food is great, rooms are very nice and comfortable with sea view and above all the stuff and service is totally perfect !!! I am strongly recommend on this hotel!
Wonderful, classy, neat hotel. Great food and lots of choice. Service was amazing. I can only mention one negative thing: we asked at the reception for a repair in our bathroom and it never happened (we were only able to take a shower and never a bath). Besides that, everything was perfect and we had a great holiday.
We are still at this hotel with two kids having suite. Positives: separate reception/panoramic view restaurant for breakfast for suites and elite club members. Staff is helpful and nice, rooms are ok and pretty clean. If you travel with kids, or want quiter time before 11pm, beware. There is very loud live music every night from 9pm till 11pm. From their own bar. I suspect bad set up of the speakers. Also, the beach is bit of let down.
We have just returned from a week at the Elysium. We stayed in a family suite- the room was lovely, spacious and clean. The hotel itself is very luxurious, but more sophistication than character. Staff were helpful and polite. There are 3 buildings, the main one and then 2 which house more rooms. The pool is lovely- there is only one which winds round the buildings. Very nice and never felt overcrowded. If travelling with children (which we were) you'd struggle a bit. The kids pool is great. Very big and a good depth. Beach is pebbles, and no kids club. Small play area. However children's menus are available, as well as highchairs. Pros- *large pool, lots of sun beds at the pool and on the beach *only 15 mins to Rhodes old town by taxi * great food selection. Emerald buffet food was gorgeous, and everyone in there was very helpful and friendly!! Cons- * you have to wear trousers and shoes in the main buffet restaurant for dinner. No one could really explain why, and then we had 3/4 conflicting stories. We were told it was in the interest of hygiene or to respect other guests of other cultures. Strange when a lot of women were coming in wearing hot pants!! A la carte restaurants you can wear shorts in?? * no where in air con to have lunch. Buffet restaurant is closed at lunchtime. Pool bar offers food at your lounger or under the canopy. Fresh restaurant serves food outside/under cover. *pool loungers can be a nightmare! On several days we witnessed towels/shoes/personal belongings on sun beds from early morning and when we went up at 4:30, no one had been on them all day. A joke really, as some people were wandering round looking for somewhere to sit and these clearly weren't being used! *bring your own hairdryer! The one they supply is attached in the bathroom and gives you thumb ache from having to hold the button down! A lovely hotel. Probably better suited to adults or those with children older than 6/7. Have a go at the Escape Room: taken! A real giggle and very well done. We had a lovely week but we would probably try another hotel next time!
Visited last June, hotel was outstanding & could not have asked for anything more, food was incredible- better than most restaurants! Couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough with incredible friendly staff, immaculate grounds and a beautiful pool. We had such a relaxing break, can't wait to re-book!
DO NOT STAY AT THIS BELOW PAR HOTEL We arrived early at the hotel so we decided to go have lunch while we wait for our room to be ready. We order our food my wife was eating a Caesar salad and she found a armadillo bug and a worm in her salad crawling around I made a very big complaint and I was ready to leave the hotel as I expected for a 5 star hotel to be high end i couldn't believe to find 2 different bugs to be alive in a plate. They begged me to stay and upgraded my breakfast to a better restaurant on the premises as I refused to go back to the same restaurant (Should of gone when i had the chance but it was very hard with 2 young kids) But the whole stay was terrible with very bad service and really bad management
