We really enjoyed our stay here. We spent 4 nights in Rhodes and 2 in Lindos, but after this hotel, we probably would've rather done it the other way around. Rhodes is a small enough island that, if you have a car, driving is easy from any city. Anyway, back to the hotel. It's in the old town, so right in the mix with tiny alleyways and white-washed buildings. We got a nice, big room with four beds that had an excellent balcony with a view over the large bay. Our other room was a quaint number with a loft with three beds and a kitchen area with one bed. Both rooms were clean and everything seemed to work. The bigger room actually had a joint bathtub and shower, so that was great. Air conditioning. Hostess Henrietta was great (and speaks about 4 or 5 different languages). Walking distance to Lindos's biggest old town-based supermarket. Easy walk down to the beach. Slightly harder, but still very doable walk to the fortress. Pre-pay option was awesome. We'd come here again! It was a little difficult to find (don't trust Google Maps), but as you wander around, you'll get there. It's old town location means you'll be parking in the public parking (free) above town and walking in (I guess you could always hire a donkey to take your stuff). Smaller apartment could've handled a slightly larger kitchen table with three our four chairs. Smaller apartment never really cooled down. Internet didn't work too well (really, at all) in the smaller apartment.
Maris studios is a very lovely place close to everything , the akropolis, the main sqaure with lots of roof top restaurants, and to the beach ( if you can find the way down to the stairs and a little road going down on the side of the hill). We got apartment 13, which you should avoid if you are afraid of hights, because you need to use tiny little stairs to climb up to the bed, and you also need to use another to climb out to the roof top terrace! But once you up there it is magneficent! The stuff was really friendly they even tried to give us another room but it was too complicated so we stayed and afterall it was a great choice!
Studio 13 no internet in the room. What was my surprise to see other comments for the same dated 2016!! They perfectly know , they don’t care at all. This is disgusting, really. And to say room is for 3 people is a joke... nevertheless the cleaning Greek lady -any words in English-must be aware because she is really sorry -always, doesn’t you Mme??- but this is not enough. Ahahah they have said to me they were going to verify the router. Be carefully because some people take costumers for idiots.
We spent our last 2 nights here in their largest room with its own private balcony. We now wish we’d spent s week here. It’s a beautiful large room, ideal for 4. The balcony is large and with a magnificent view. The kitchen has bear essentials but who wants to eat in when the choice of restaurants is extraordinary. The beach is nearby and has SAND not rocks.
I don't have any photos sorry, but there's lots on here. I was in Room 2 which had a sea view. The room was tired, but the aircon worked and there's a large roof fan. Not much storage space other than hanging space, but you make do. I liked the room in fact, but some may find it a little worn. The cleaner was amazingly good - bed made every day, room cleaned every day. She was quite noisy first thing in the morning, but a 'neighbour' and I mentioned it to the Manager and things did quieten down for a few days. I remember how noisy she is from a few years back! Lovely, lovely lady though. I loved the patio area with it's flowers and seating area. Not stark like some places. The only thing is that if you need to find your own way to the Maris at night, as we did (I've visited Lindos loads), and you don't know how the main doors to these places open, you are stuck! It took a few moments for me to find the unseen wire to pull in order to open the latch to the main door! I then had to search for Room 2 - not hard to find, but I went the wrong way first whilst my poor husband had to push the suitcase up a narrow staircase.
Usual Lindian apartment, serviced very well by a lovely Greek lady, clean sheets and towels always, no problem. Aircon works well and was needed, we were there in 37C. Fly screens on all windows. The bed was a raised Lindian bed, a little hard for my liking, and was like scaling Mount Everest to get in, and we are both tall, but comfortable enough once you got used to it. Very roomy in comparison with some of these apartments we have been in. Shower was excellent, although the head was a bit leaky, fridge was good, there were cooking implements and a hob but we didn't use them as there are so many good restaurants near by. Not all the rooms are the same- some are a little bit more luxurious, with better views and patio areas with sunloungers, I dare say they are more expensive, but it's pot luck what you get for the dates you want. We did have our own table and chairs outside. Overall a good experience.
Lindos (Rhodos, Greece) is a wonderful place to visit but if your stay there DO NOT rent an apartment from MARIS studio. We had rented for 4 days through booking.com a “32 Square meters Superior apartment with Roof terrace supposed to host 4 people” at the cost of 104 Euros per night. When we arrived another couple occupied the apartment and they gave us a housing that did not correspond at all to the description found on booking.com, which, by the way, is usually very accurate. They put us in a tiny “closet” (Apartment 13) of about 15 square meters with almost no window and no real beds. The matrasses were sitting directly on the floor of a mezzanine covering almost entirely the studio. We had to sleep on the floor with no space around the matrass to move around. Access to the roof terrace was through a window that was at best 1 meter high and gave access to a narrow space from which you still had to climb on a nearly broken stair to finally get in the open. Admittedly the view there was marvelous but my back still hurts from sleeping on a hard-rock bed on the floor and ramping through the window. We called several times to complain but they never accepted that this was not the Superior studio we had rented so that we should at the very least get a partial reimbursement, and no one ever showed up to discuss with us. This is the worse room in terms of price/quality ratio I ever had in 40 years of travel. It is also the first time that I rent an apartment without ever seeing anyone except for a very nice cleaning lady who could not speak a word of anything else than Greek. Other apartments seem nicer but number 13 is really awful and you are never sure of what you will get. I would certainly discourage other people from using MARIS studio rental.
There are some very good aspects of this accommodation but also some very poor ones. We stayed in studio 11. Firstly the good aspects... 1. The location, right in the village within walking distance to shops, bars, restaurants, beaches and the acropolis. 2. The views over the village, beach and sea in one direction and up to the acropolis in the other. 3. The room is very spacious for 2 people but would have been very cramped for more. The roof terrace is very spacious. 4. The lovely, friendly lady who came each day to clean and make the bed. The poor aspects... 1. Our arrival in Lindos was marred by the miserable grumpy man who met us. He objected to meeting us at a place of our choosing and then hung around outside the studio until we gave him a tip to get rid of him. 2. The accommodation is in dire need of refurbishment. The shower room in particular is mouldy with old fittings. 3. The furniture on the roof terrace is falling apart; broken table, broken sun beds. The furniture in the studio is mis matched and has handles which fall off etc. Poorly equipped with only two knives. 4. The towels are thin and grey - past their usable life. 5. The poor surface and maintenance on the roof terrace with weeds growing between poorly laid slabs. 5. The wifi is intermittent and the electricity went off a couple of times. Be aware that none of the photographs available online are a true representation of the property, they must have been taken many years ago. Please see our photos taken last month for a better idea. We have not uploaded photos of the lovely views as there are plenty available online. The description available online is limited and we were unaware that the terrace is accessed by going out of the front door, up a flight of steps to the roof and climbing over an 18 inch wall. This was not a problem to us but could be to others. We would not recommend the studio as we feel it is expensive for the standard of accommodation, but if it was refurbished we would be back.
Another wonderful stay in apt 10. Helen is amazing and looks after you so well. Extremely clean and comfortable. Fantastic views from private balcony. Will be back next year. Close to the village and beach, on the donkey path to the Acropolis.
Room 10 was our home for 2 weeks of bliss. We love the character of the room, very comfortable and very clean (thanks to Helen the wonderful maid). The private sun terrace is a gem. Please don't change too much with the refurb. The view is stunning. We plan to return next year so please do not spoil the charm, because it is wonderful already!!!
