The Heidelberg Exzellenz Hotel

We arrived at Exzellenz late afternoon. Hotel is located near the older part of town which is great. The hotel does not have free parking so you have to park on the street but they do offer you a parking pass which is helpful as the parking machine is kinda hard to understand. Hotel is quiet and comfortable and staff is friendly and courteous.

Really enjoyed my recent stay in exzellenz hotel, so much so I needed to recommend it to all. I was in town for a conference at the the EMBL and for that it was perfect, 2 mins walk from the Lufthansa shuttle to/from Frankfurt airport and the shuttle to EMBL that both arrive/leave behind the Crowne Plaza hotel. A public bus (no39) that also goes to EMBL also stops across the road. It's a 20 minute walk to the old town Centre, but there is another bus (33) that will take you there in 5 minutes and goes from just 2 blocks from the hotel. The hotel itself was lovely, with character outside and modernity within. The bathroom particularly was very nice and modern with soft towels, and it was immaculately cleaned. Breakfast was a brilliant buffet (croissant with cheese and ham was my repeated selection) and coffee and tea (and often fruit and cakes) are available 24/7 in the lobby. As are complimentary little packs of gummy bears! The staff were helpful and friendly through my stay. Zero complaints or negative comments!

Stayed for 3 nights in June, very warm days (30+ degrees) and no a/c in room didn't make for a comfortable stay. Hotel provides large portable fans however they just didn't much relief from the heat. Made it very difficult to sleep at night. The rooms do have heating for the cooler weather, so I'd imagine it would be a much more comfortable environment. With the exception of the a/c, or lack of, the room and facilities are pretty good. Nice modern bathroom, excellent shower pressure. Bonus having a fridge, microwave etc. Nice large tv. Comfortable beds. Pillows average. Breakfast was good, a few hot items including pancakes for ten euros per person. Taxi from train station was 8 euro. Would stay again (but not during summer).

We overnighted here on our way to Salzburg. What a pleasant little place. Newly refurbished with spacious rooms and very clean. Staff are helpful and recommended where to visit during our very short stay. No air con in rooms just heating. But a very large fan was included. It is a 20 minute walk to the old town area with its large selection of restaurants. Not a difficult or arduous walk at all. Others have talked about the breakfast. Continental and as much as you want. If we pass through Heidelberg again I know exactly where we will be staying

We stayed in the new building. positive: modern, new and large room. negative: no elevator. So, depending on your luggage you might ask for a room in the older building. The parking slot is a few meters from the hotel but you will have to pick up a card in the main reception to access it, so park you carbon front of it, unload and take the card.

Not expensive, great location (5 minutes to the main street in the old city), free internet (solid speed and stabilita) for up to 3 devices, great breakfast choices. Relatively simple rooms and small bathroom, but clean and great price performance ratio for this class of hotel.

A really great place to stay in Heidelberg. We stayed for 4 nights in the end of March. The hotel is about 5-10 min walk from the old town, and 2-4 min walk from the nearest train station. The rooms are spacious and welcoming. The room we stayed in (on the 4th floor) was nicely decorated, in a modern yet cozy way. The bathroom was totaly new and remarkably clean. The breakfast is really nice, and there was quite a lot of variety of food. They have all day free coffee (a really good one), tea, bagels, dounats and even sandwiches buring lunchtime. The only downsides were the lack of safe in the room and the limitation to connect only 3 devices to the wifi (we had 2 phones, 1 computer and a kindle so we had to choose between them). Next time we are visiting there we'll definetly stay again in the hotel.

I used a hotel booking site to reserve my stay at Exzellenz Hotel. Since parking in Weststadt can be difficult, I paid for access to the hotel's parking area. The hotel shares parking with Boardinghouse Heidelberg. The parking lot was small with about ten parking spots. Although I had difficulty finding the parking lot, I didn't have any issues with checking into the hotel. My room was on the fourth floor. Fortunately, the hotel has an elevator. My room was exceptionally clean. No issues with water pressure or hot water in the morning. Bed was comfortable but the pillows weren't very firm. Breakfast was delicious and offered a little more variety than the standard German breakfast. Pancakes, eggs and bacon were delicious. I especially enjoyed the homemade liverwurst. No issues with the checkout process. I would stay here again. Great hotel.

We stayed one night to visit the Christmas market. The hotel is central, just a short stroll to the old town, with the added bonus of parking just beside it, The room was clean and pleasant, staff were friendly and breakfast filling. It's just a shame we were woken up at seven o' clock in the morning by children jumping around in the room above us!

Location of this hotel is good. It is walking distance to the old city and main road. Ambience is also good. What was missing was a good internet service, which was not working when I was staying. I was not warned about this before coming, which can be a major issue for some business people.
