entspannend; good location right on beach; good breakfast, variety of fresh hot and cold food and lovely to sit directly on the beach. Lovely pool and spacious garden, chairs etc. Friendly staff on reception and a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, shops etc close by
We stayed here for 5 days at the beginning of October. The staff are great - very helpful and friendly and doing their best to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We were quite impressed by the room when we first got here - plenty of space including a small table and a good sized balcony. The bathroom was disappointingly small with a shower that seemed to be added as an afterthought. Not enough room to bend down to wash yourself properly without falling through the shower curtain. Also we were unable to get any real hot water - luke warm at best - which is basic requirement of any accommodation. Breakfast was ok - but short in fresh fruit and awful fruit juice. Very cheap concentrate that has never been near a fresh orange. We did not see anyone actually drink a full glass. Coffee was ok. Good location on the beach although it was very windy most of the time. The pool looks great but was rather cold and unsurprisingly few people actually swam in it. We are keen hikers and it was good base for getting to the spectacular Gorges in the area. Very reasonably priced so can't complain overall.
We stayed a whole week as a family of 4. Had a seaview apartment, with a very generous balcony, a table and 4 chairs. Kids slept on single beds in the living room. The apartment is basic & clean. No kettle, nor pots & pans or swimming towels available. Plates, cups, cutlery, chopping board, clothes drying rack, bedding, great quality bathroom towels, small flat screen TV and fridge available. Breakfast was just ok, 3/10. Nothing worth mentioning- maybe only that it could drastically improve. The food was everyday the same. Things like yoghurt & honey could be of much better quality, especially since we are in Greece afterall. We only had breakfast on the first day and never again. We opted for a breakfast at a nearby cafe. Which means extra money being spend 😕. Feeling so bad to mention it, but we had the poorest tasting cocktails ever - and that is putting it politely = 2/10. Even though the lovely blonde waitress replaced them. I really want to give her a public mention (regretting not getting her name - no one wear name tags). Garden, pool and public areas are kept immaculate by wonderful people like Chrisoula from Housekeeping and the most admiration is for hard working Edward from Maintenance. He was always busy doing jobs that we wouldn't want to do if we were in his shoes. The sunbeds and umbrellas are modern and seemed brand new - very comfy too! There is an area on the way to the pool where hotel guests leave their i inflatables, books, left over sunscreens etc for the following lot of guests to use - we liked this common courtesy. All the guests we were relaxed, pleasant and everyone kept to themselves. Mainly families with young children. A very powerful out door shower available right on the beach and also by the pool. I would definitely recommend this establishment- where the restaurant lacks in most areas, the rest of the hotel, the front desk / housekeeping / maintenance staff, amenities and location!!! definitely makes up for it! No need to rent a car as many busses run till late at night. Lovely shops around! Amazing sunsets right infront of the hotel too!
We were drinking at the bar with friends and the beach waiters were virtually robbing people of 2 euros for washing their feet in the foot showers in the sand. The waiters came back and were laughing about the stupid tourists. There was no sign saying 2 euros. What a disgrace. I won't be going there again. Daylight robbery!
We stayed at Marino's for two weeks in the new one bedroom suites. The hotel is really clean, the new rooms are spacious and well equipped. Air conditioning units in both bedroom and lounge - ideal for us with two toddlers in the lounge area. Pool is fantastic, really big compared to other hotels in the area. The children's pool is great - perfect depth for little ones. The beach is nice, but not amazing, still good for swimming and sunbathing. We stayed at the pool most days as the sand was too hot for kids. WiFi signal was fantastic. The breakfast was the only downside, which we knew from previous reviews. They had white/brown bread & rolls - no toaster. Tomatoes, cucumber, feta cheese. Then a hot dish - typically scrambled eggs with veg and chips mixed in. Greek yogurt and honey... plus cakes. Shame there wasn't more fruit or some sausages or pancakes. The hotel is ideally situated, very quiet but within a 2min walk of restaurants, bars and shops. There is a bus stop a few mins ago that takes you into Rethymon town - for €1-2. We went 5 times and highly recommend the old town for restaurants and a change of scene. We also hired a car from Venus - visited a beach on the west coast, really easy to do. Would highly recommend this hotel. We had a lovely break.
This is a perfect place for spending a family holiday. Good location, big enough room, nice pool, great beach, delicious breakfast, kind and helpful staff. Rethimno is a good location to discover Crete.
We have enjoyed our stay in the Marinos beach hotel very much. We had a 4 persons appartment in the new part. The 2 rooms are tastefull decorated, great beds, great bathroom, nice kitchenette, great airco system, 2 tv's and good wifi. Since the hotel is at a dead end road we were not bothered by noise of traffic. 👍The garden with a beautifull swimming pool is next to the beach. The staff is very friendly and cleaning is taken care of every day. 👍 We had breakfast in the package and went out for dinners. Plenty wonderfull restaurants can be found in walking distance. Marinos beach hotel is highly recommended for a care free holiday.
It was the 6th time we stayed at Marinos Beach Hotel/Appts and boy, again it was superb! Well presented, with new outdoor settings and changes to the restaurant/bar area, lovely food (as always!) and clean appartments. You can now have dinner there as well, however, the order has to be in before 07.45pm and that is a bit too early for us. The pool sparkled, the palm tree garden well kept, what more do you need? Only one small improvement point on the beach...the beach sets with umbrella are placed a bit too close to each other, there is not much space to maneuver around, esp. when it is very hot and you need to shift into the shade. But hey, for 5 € a day as opposed to other islands in the Med area like e.g. Menorca with 13 € and roughly the same space around you...who's complaining???? Top spot, as always!
Just got back from a week stay at the hotel! Manager was lovely and very helpful, answered all our questions and booked us a taxi into the town one night. We had a studio room, simple, but everything you needed. Wifi wasn't great inside the room but perfect on the balcony and everywhere else. We had breakfast included but didn't have the inclusive one. We bought it a few mornings in the restaurant however and was good food, and it is on a gorgeous setting on the beach. Parking is free! 100% recommend to hire a car, the island is gorgeous and needs to be explored. The area was quiet as we were at the start of the season, more was opening as the week went on. Loads of restaurants near by and shops. Would definitely stay here again!!
Super service, great facilities. Food was superb with an amazing view of the sea. Wifi signal was strong everywhere. Clean room and pool. Was right in town yet was still nice and peaceful. Would definitely recommend.
