We arrived at Cass Vitae in the early hours and were met by a friendly receptionist who had waited for us! It's a small hotel and all of the staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable, this included printing off bus timetables and giving advice on where to go. It was the Greek Orthadox Easter and we had Easter candles and information provided by the hotel which allowed us to enjoy and join the celebrations. Location is perfect for exploring the old town, and easy walking distance to the bus station. Excellent breakfast & lovely room, we honestly couldn't find fault with anything!
Very nice rooms, delicious breakfast, super friendly and helpful staff and great location made our stay here fantastic. We went here in March / April and it wasn't exactly beach weather but it was very nice to walk around in the city, exploring the sights etc. The hotel's located in the middle of the old city, so there are no cars and very quiet in the evenings.
This is one of the most charming hotels we have ever stayed in. The facility is beautiful, conveniently located, with wonderful rooms. The 2 girls on staff at the desk were charming and very helpful with suggestions. Breakfast was lovely. Would never stay anywhere else.
We had relaxing 5 days in this hotel, we boocked the the Junior Suite (1st floor with a small balcony) , very friendly service. You just should be prepared for mediteranian bed style: ONE mattress for two and ONE large duvet for two.
We spent 2 of our 5 nights on this last trip (30.3-4.4) at Casa Vitae. It is a charming small hotel (8 rooms) . We did not stay in one of the suites but in a large room with a very big bed (Ela). The room has a separate entrance a great shower, small sofa and coffee table a place for our two small suitcases, a wardrobe cabinet with bathrobes and extra pillows. The dining area of the hotel (excellent free breakfast) is lovely and glass enclosed and looks out at the small garden. Our last day we had to leave a bit early and were offered either an early breakfast or a box with food to take,. The staff are warm and extremely helpful and interesting people in and of themselves. As it is in the old city there is no parking right next to it we did however find a place very close. In short as if and when we return to Rethymno we will certainly stay here again . The price was substantially less than other similar hotels in the area.
If you are reading this review then you probably want to know why you should book it: 1. Fantastic location on a quaint/quiet street in the old town of Rethymnon 2. Spacious, elegant rooms with everything you should require (inc. a jacuzzi bath!) 3. Staff are friendly and helpful and catered for all our needs during our stay 4. Breakfast is great! A choice of cereals/toast and condiments with juice, tea/coffee delivered to your table along with ham/cheeses and pastries. Eggs ordered (no charge). 5. Outside courtyard is lovely to have a coffee and relax (as well as eating breakfast) 6. Value for money ... quite a few other boutique hotels charging a lot more! 7. Awards... rated very highly among booking companies .... I could go on! The only negatives for me were the wi-fi speed, which was manageable but at times it wasn't fast enough for uploading photos/watching films etc. and the TV channels on the TV. Would go back and recommend to friends. Book it!
This was a second visit and I would gladly go for a third. Nothing fancy. A small charming hotel with perfect quiet location in the old town. Spacious, clean and comfortable rooms, with elegant decor (mix of traditional and contemprorary, so very fresh). All functioned very well. Good breakfast for the price of rooms (could be better though) served in a very cozy and charming yard. Friendly and efficient service. There are a few better hotels but at higher rates, so what more do you need?
Very pleasant stay in this hotel very well located in the old city. The rooms are comfortable, well equipped and especially clean. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is hearty. In short, a stay made very pleasant by these conditions of welcome and unsurprising. Only the sound insulation of the bottom chamber should be improved to avoid hearing the neighbors above when they move frequently and loudly.
A big room for 2 with a lot of space. Bathroom with Jacuzzi. Incredible breakfast in the veranda in November!!! (Also you can ask more than proposed in standard i.e. eggs..without any additional cost. Top service always ready to help. Excellent recommendation fro restaurants. The access is a little bit complicate the first time but after no problem. Near to center of the town (5/8 mn walking). Le cadre est magnifique soit le jardin soit la maison. No te lo pierdas si vas a Rethymnon aunque sea solo por una noche.
We stayed here for a couple of nights on our recent trip to Crete. On the whole, very good, but one or two things loose it a star. The first is the parking problem. The hotel is in a wonderful location in the old town, but the downside of that is that is is buried deep in the pedestrian area and you have to trundle your cases a couple of hundred yards to get to it, assuming you can find somewhere that close to park - not a certainty by any means. Having reached the hotel, there is no lift and no strong man to help you carry your cases to your room. Ours was on the second floor! The charming young girl on reception said it wasn't a problem and said they would be brought up. We went on up to our room, only to find a few minutes later that she had struggled up with our cases herself. We felt very embarrassed that she had done so and we felt that neither we nor she should have been put in that position. When we left we struggled down with our cases rather than risk a repeat, and again, we should not have had to do so. The room was spacious and nicely furnished but decorated in a somewhat dark style of decor and without a balcony we felt rather claustrophobic in it. The potential for sitting out in the hotel was limited. Go for a room with a balcony! Apart from those niggles, all good. The bed was comfy, the shower was excellent, once we figured out how it worked. Everything was spotless and all the staff were as charming as the receptionist. The breakfast buffet was good, if a little limited, but an excellent cooked breakfast was quickly prepared to order. The location is almost unbeatable for exploring the old town. I recommend To Pigadi for an excellent meal - the best meal we had all week.
