Relais Villa Roncuzzi4.0 out of 5.0

Villa Roncuzzi is situated in the outskirts of the small village of San Pancrazio which comes under the jurisdiction of the small town of Russi in Emilia Romagna. It is about 90 km from the airport at Bologna and ideally positioned for visits to nearby medieval towns, Ravenna with its incredible mosaics, Ferrara and the coast. Signora Patrizia, the very welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful manager of the hotel can arrange to collect you from the railway station at Russi which has a direct line to Bologna, Rimini and Ravenna but a car is preferable. The hotel has 22 rooms and is based in an old nunnery. It has all mod cons including a large swimming pool for the hotter months and interesting modern art is everywhere. The restaurant has a very accomplished chef who offers delicious dishes from local ingredients and will cook requests if given enough notice. Breakfasts are substantial and good. This hotel is altogether a great find with helpful and friendly staff and very good food
Beautiful place in the countryside very nice hostess very tranquil and homely. Just came for Coffee between business appointments and was made very welcome ,will definitely return and stay a few nights...................
I have recently spent 2 nights in Villa Roncuzzi for a short break with my mother. The warm and friendly welcome of Mrs Patrizia, the excellent customer service provided during our stay and the fine cuisine you experience in Villa Roncuzzi have made our stay truly enjoyable and memorable. In addition to this, if you are passionate about Art and you want to indulge your visual sense, then this rare gem is the right place to be.
Our family was delighted to stay here in August. Superbly helpful staff, very clean and comfortable, excellent breakfasts. Can't comment on the evening food as we did not dine here - Ravenna is full of superb restaurants and is a 20 minute drive. Pool is good and large enough for several families. Lots of quirky art on the walls; a touch of eccentricity about the place. I would happily go back both here, and to Ravenna, which is an extremely interesting place with loads of fantastic Byzantine mosaics (our main reason for visiting).
We found this hotel through TripAdvisor -- and we were very happy with the experience. The hotel is well-outside Ravenna, but we found that to be a nice break from the city. The woman who worked there was a wealth of information about the art, history, and attractions of Ravenna. We were very lucky to have access to her wealth of knowledge. The rooms are absolutely beautiful. Old-world elegance with a wonderful collection of modern art interspersed. The restaurant was closed when we were there, but the wonderful woman who worked the front desk sent us to a terrific local tratorria for a delightful meal. The surrounding location is odd -- ugly modern buildings which date to the last five years. No matter, once inside the grounds it was lovely.
We started our adventure in Italy with a one night stay at the Relais Villa Roncuzzi. We received such a warm welcome from the family who run the Villa and the rooms are amazing gems. Very well maintained, the hotel was once a nunnery. Both the dinner and the breakfast were fantastic.
I spent one night in Relais Villa Roncuzzi near Ravenna on october 7th The experience has been amazing. This adress is absolutely recommendable, the service is fantastic , the owner knows more about the region than any tourist office, the restaurant offers fantastic quality with local fresh products The rooms are quiet, cleanliness is perfect and breakfast is far above average of any 4 star hotel I have visited in the last few years !
We have just returned from a wonderful 4 night stay at Villa Roncuzzi. Patrizia, the owner, was so welcoming and made our stay extra special..fantastic food and fabulous well priced wine choices. A combination of spotlessly clean rooms and communal spaces with such interesting artwork added to our enjoyment of staying in a place that was obviously the owner's pride and joy. The hotel is a great base to visit the fantastic mosaics of nearby Ravenna and we highly recommend the ceramic museum in Faenza. On Patrizia's recommendation we visited Brisighella..a gorgeous hill town famous for it's olive oil and wine growing. The whole of the region of Emilia Romagna is a gastronomic as well as a cultural and architectural feast. We will be returning to the warm hospitality of Villa Roncuzzi again!
My husband and I stayed at the Villa Roncuzzi last summer which is located in a quite village of San Pancrazio. My understanding is that it’s an old mansion transformed into a family run hotel with a variety of rooms. We stayed at one of their suites for almost a month. Thanks to Signora Patricia who was there 24/7 and her friendly staff we liked everything about it. It was an ideal place for us to hang out during a day or come back after a long day at work or sightseeing. Signora Patricia is a key person if you need an advice on dining, places to go or logistics. She is an art specialist by her first profession and knows everything about the area, especially the beautiful city of Ravenna. It’s a good memory overall and I would definitely recommend this place to a friend. Don’t miss a local restaurant called La Cucoma!
Spent 14 nights at this lovely family owned hotel and had a great stay. Service level and friendliness was something out of the ordinary. Everybody is so nice and walk that extra mile to really make you feel welcome. Check-in was very smooth, since I was staying for two weeks I was assigned a a very nice suite with garden access. Room was of good size and very personal in style. A very big and comfortable bed, a nice sofa and a desk. Bathroom very big and nicely decorated, the only negative for the bathroom would be that it was only equipped with a bath tub and a hand held shower. The hotel as such is nicely decorated with loads of art, paintings and sculptures. Nice patio and pool area, didn't try out the pool since it was a bit too early in the season for swimming. Restaurant very nice, menu a bit limited but for a weekend absolutely fine. On the other hand they offered to prepare alternative meals since I was staying for a longer period of time. Breakfast was also very nice. Not a huge selection, which is quite common in southern Europe, but everything was nice and fresh. Coffee was of course excellent. Overall a very pleasant stay and I would not hesitate to stay again. The staff is so nice friendly and they do walk that extra mile to make ones stay as comfortable as possible. Location is a bit of the beaten track but there are towns nearby like Russi and Cotignola where there are plenty of restaurants and shops. Ravenna is also just half an hour away. Looking forward to come back to this lovely hotel.
