Hotels.com booking screwed us

Our experience was not an issue with the actual hotel. Our issue was hotels.com overbooked the room we were supposed to have. We asked for a 2 queen bed and be ause the hotel was booked we ended up in a 1 double bed lower cost room.

As a budget hotel it was surprisingly complete. Great pet friendly policy. Through a bad chain of events I had to drive through the night, arriving at 5:30 am (instead of 8 pm the night before). The front desk person, recognizing that I was super tired, immediately offered a late checkout of noon!

Looked like a motel 6 but had iron, sink, microwave. Couch was stained. Had a smell like cigarettes in our room. No elevator. Was extremely hard to bring luggage upstairs. Breakfast wasnt good went to McDonalds. Wouldnt recommend.

The renovation of this place made it feel institutionalized. Cheap furniture and no amenities. The bed was on a metal frame that squeaked at every move. You could hear clear down the other end of the hallway. A inch gap at the bottom of the doorway felt creepy. The breakfast was continental but left a sour taste in your mouth due to old coffee creamer. Never again Micro-hell.

The hotel is okay. Clean enough to sleep on the inside. The outside was trashy. Not in a nice part of town either. Would have not wanted my wife to stay here alone.

Raton Stopover

It was a great stay. There was no problem with the room except a brief period when the electric was cutting on and off. That was a hotel wide issue and I don’t know how, but it was resolved quickly. The bed was a little soft for me (in that always a subjective view?), but not enough for me to not get a good night’s sleep. We felt safe at the location. There are quite a few food options from pizza delivery to a sit-down steakhouse available in the close vicinity. I would recommend staying here.
