This was one of the loveliest hotels we have ever stayed in. Beautifully appointed, unbelievable staff, and well located. The wonderful afternoon tea was a lovely bonus. Unfortunately we only had one day there but if we return to Quito we cannot imagine staying anywhere else.
We had our gala dinner here as a group and enjoyed it greatly. The atmosphere was very elegant and the food and the service was very good. The bar looked very impressive as well. We had Brie balls salad with pears soaked in wine and lettuce, octopus in citrus sauce, a delicious fish called corvina above avocado risotto and dessert which I liked the least of the above. Expensive but it is worth the price.
We spent four nights in Casa Gangotena and loved every one. The hotel is in the perfect location, walking distance to almost everything. It is housed in an old mansion right on the Plaza San Francisco. The service is outstanding. The rooms are lovely. You have breakfast or dinner in a quiet room on the first floor looking out at the Plaza. A full tea is served in the greenhouse/sitting room. And the bar is one of the best we have ever been at. The bar tenders, especially Elizabeth, are wizards. I will never forget the old fashioned. We could have sat at the bar forever watching them create their magic. What a special place!
Everything about this hotel is absolutely amazing, the location is one of the best, it's sits besides the main plaza which you can go anytime you want. The rooms are just astounding, they remind me of Victorian style rooms. extremely comfortable beds very clean and fancy bathroom. The food there is amazing, mainly the breakfast, it offers several types of healthy food/fruits/cereals and very exotic juices. It was an amazing experience, totally worth it.
A sympathetically converted (rich) family home that has been changed into a boutique hotel. The location could not be better for strolling around the historical centre of Quito. The staff are friendly and well trained, not too formal. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with all the facilities a traveler needs. Excellent breakfast too, although the box breakfast supplied if taking an early flight out was disappointing. Overall an excellent experience, but whether it is value for money is a question that may make some stay elsewhere.
We booked this hotel via Mr and Mrs Smith and we're treated like kings! The hotel is located on the plaza San Francisco in Quito, and just in front of the beautiful church of the same name. Inside, it's calm, clean and beautiful. The staff is extremely helpful and pleasant - including after our stay. The complimentary tea and the breakfast was amazing. Their special cocktail is exquisite. We really enjoyed this hotel and had a relaxing time!
First stop on our Latin American trip. We requested a Plaza view room and we had a lovely room overlooking the Plaza. However there are building works around the Plaza and the view is slightly marred by the construction site. Very comfortable beds, well appointed bathroom and friendly staff. My partner was suffered from altitude sickness and had to spend the day in bed. Staff sent up extra water and the “chambermaid” was very kind and made sure that she had plenty of coca tea.Food is good and some breakfast items can be cooked to order. Quito is a nice town with beautiful architecture. We were only there for a short time before transferring to our next stop - Mashpi Lodge.
We stayed here for 3 nights in a luxury room. This places is great! The staff is very helpful, the hotel facilitied are very good, its own garden is simple beatiful. Meals are good and is buffet breakfast. One of the reasons why we chose Casa Gangote was because its location...in right in the Colonial Downdtown. From the hotel terrace you will enjoy an splendid view. Strongly recommended
Stayed two nights in Quito at start of Galapagos Islands cruise. Lovely garden entrance and elegant décor. Gracious welcome from staff. Beautiful fruit plate and alfajores in elegant bedroom. Comfortable furnishings; excellent shower in bathroom. After suitcases delivered to room, a waiter brought sandwiches. Fine breakfast and afternoon tea. Flower displays everywhere - including masses of roses and color-coordinated planters for orchids. Right across the street is the pre-Colombian La Casa del Alabado museum. A most inviting ambiance for a Quito visit.
I did a fair amount of research before we arrived. Could have stayed at other hotels like the JW Marriott for a fraction of the price but chose the Casa Gangotena for the intimate feel and the location. We were not at all disappointed. The look and feel of the Casa is reminiscent of the small palaces of Europe and the service is efficient and polite without being intrusive..kind of like living in your own home!! Food was excellent and don’t miss the complimentary afternoon tea! Thank you Casa Gangotena for a wonderful five days!
