We had a fairly large room with a king bed and an extra cot for my daughter. Nice wood floors. Clean. comfortable. Friendly staff. Easy walk to the downtown activities, yet far enough away from the craziness.
Stayed for a week in a king room (unserviced, no kitchen facilities) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As former Queenstown residents, we had not stayed here before but were keen to stay close to town and the gardens on our short holiday back visiting friends in Queenstown. The location is perfect if you want to be within walking distance to town, close to the bus, near the lake and gardens. It's also a really tranquil spot adjacent to the greenery of the gardens, a view of the gondola and mountains behind town (and paragliders), and there's lots of natural light that comes through the big windows. I loved waking up to the sound of the unique Alpine birds. It's also a good location if you're driving from the airport, or Wanaka/Arrowtown direction, as you turn off Frankton Rd before getting into the centre of town, so you avoid the busy section around Shotover St where lots of accommodation is on the other side of the lake. The room itself was simple and timeless - lots of timber- flooring and wardrobe/desk were all timber which adds to the alpine feel. The King bed was large and comfortable, and it was great to have a desk and two chairs as well. The bathroom was large and had everything you need, including heating for the winter months. I particularly loved having a balcony with a small table and two chairs. I loved looking out over to the gardens and seeing the buzz of town, without all the noise of being right in the centre of town. We had tea and coffee making facilities along with some complimentary cookies when we arrived. While we didn't have a serviced rate, the staff were happy to refill our towels and tissues etc if needed during our stay. This hotel was one of the quietest I've stayed in throughout Australia, NZ and Asia recently, in terms of noise from other rooms and guests. Occasionally we heard noise from the street- cars, skateboards, people talking etc. But of course, this can't be avoided and nothing kept us awake or interrupted us during our stay. Staff were friendly and always around if you needed anything. The property felt safe and secure and very clean. The gardens outside the hotel itself were beautiful and well maintained by staff daily. They really take pride in their property. I'd love to come back and stay here again, maybe in a serviced room as after a week our bed had got pretty messy and I felt bad asking for new rubbish bags, towels etc nearly every day. There is six parking spots for guests (12 rooms), but being so close to the bus you can really get the $2 Queenstown bus everywhere and you can easily walk to town straight from your room. If you're looking for a quiet, homely, comfortable and central stay in Queenstown I highly recommend this hotel. It doesn't have the sophisticated style of some of the newer and flash spots in town but it's honest, good value that you'll appreciate and you'll enjoy coming back to your room after your daily adventures.
Room was great! Super homey and cozy. If you're looking for amenities and a posh place to stay, this isn't your place. However, if you like good service and a friendly staff, you won't go wrong here. Would definitely stay here again!
Warm and cosy. Close to town (5 mins walk - bit of a hill coming back) but far enough away to get little noise apart from people passing; chatting on the street. Comfortable bed and pillows. Nice wood flooring. Under floor heating in bathroom. Window which can be opened as well as balcony door. 6 car parking spaces (12 rooms) but over the Christmas period the garage was never full. Kate very helpful with remote control problem - determined to get it fixed. Minor issue: shower head couldn't be moved, which made for tricky manoeuvres. Wee Christmas gift was a nice touch- great cherries! Thank you. Overall a great stay!
Perfect location! Lovely staff, really helpful! Great room. We had a king sized unserviced room and was great size and bathroom was lovely! Beautiful view of the hill and even a glimpse of the lake!!! Would definitely recommend a stay here. Our only little thing was no air conditioning just a fan and we found it a little warm at times but didn't really effect the stay.
Situated on a corner lot opposite the gardens and path into town. Just a few minutes walk. About 12 rooms on 2 floors with a small balcony. Well equipped, decorated with wooden pine so a little worried about damaging it. No aircon so with sliding door open there was some noise from the street with cars starting and people walking home late. Parking is on first come first served basis but we had no problem. Carrying cases up 2 floors was a bit of a feat. Small breakfast room with a special $10 breakfast was nice with a small patio outside. A short walk down the path to town on the right was a cafeteria for a tourism college which offered good coffee and food. Don't miss a walk in the park.
The hotel is a short distance from the main road into Queenstown and is right opposite the Gardens. There is free parking available on a first come, first served basis but we had no trouble getting a space for our rental car. It's just a few steps from the centre of delightful Queenstown so all the bars & restaurants are right on the hotel's doorstep. Our room was a Deluxe King with wooden floors and a sliding door to a patio area. The bed was nice and comfortable - especially when the electric blanket was on. The amenities were good - real milk & real coffee especially. No sign of the infernal Nespresso machine thankfully. The bathroom was well stocked with a great shower. Each morning we popped into the breakfast room where for a very reasonable charge you can enjoy either a cooked or continental breakfast. We were on a first time tour of New Zealand and this establishment like so many in the country offered a warm and helpful service. Highly recommended.
Stayed there with my husband and daughter for 6 days in Nov'17. Perfect location were it not for the ocassional noise of the drunken people outside but then not the Hotel's fault and we didn't mind one bit. Our room, a kitchenette, was very clean, spacious, and have a the kitchen utensils you need. My husband has dietary restrictions so it was really a big plus for us. The staff are so amazing. Never felt like we were in a hotel the whole time that we were there. It's like you're in your own private space. Will definitely book this hotel again.
Stayed here for 5 nights in November with my husband. Unreal apartment, just a couple of minutes walk to the lake and the heart of town. So many amazing restaurants and bars to choose from. Apartment had everything you could want. Very clean and comfortable and all the staff we met were lovely. Could not fault this place and would definitely recommend it to others.....just hope it's not booked out when we decide to come again!
We stayed here for four nights in the self contained apartment! We had an amazing stay, the staff were so friendly and helpful, the apartment was so spacious and exceptionally clean with large kitchen/dining and two balconies! The lakefront in the centre of queenstown is about a 3 minute stroll! Can’t wait to stay here again next time we are in queenstown!!
