Wow, stunning location, property and superb staff!

Beautiful property and views

Beautiful views from outdoor deck of sunset over Positano.

Very modern property with a jaw-dropping view of the western end of the Amalfi coast, looking across the bay to Positano and all the way down to Capri. The staff was great at all levels. Praiano is bigger than Atrani; smaller than Amalfi; less well-known than Positano. This makes it just about perfect. Like Ravello, you are situated high on the cliffside--no easy beach access. The hotel is situated in a very walkable neighborhood. There is less need for vertical climbing, although that is still available for the physically fit and adventurous. The hotel has parking on the premises, if you are silly enough to have rented a car. The local bus service is excellent and there is a local taxi service (pricey). There is a lovely terrace swimming pool; sauna; weight room. The hotel's restaurant is excellent, and has a reputation that draws patrons from other hotels in the area (and other towns, too). Dinner reservations are suggested for that reason. Staff can arrange for private trips to Pompeii and/or Herculaneum.

Very nice view, very clean rooms and great location. The owners were very attentive and the personal touch was evident in everything. Many thanks to Ms. Carmela and especially her mother. Just wish the pool was open. Best, Herta

I honestly thought the room and resort would be a lot nicer. Perhaps all the great reviews and pictures made it seem this way. And we do travel frequently. I would have preferred to stay in Positano. Everything we did we basically had to cab it there for either a night out or day activities or ferry rides, etc.

My family had a great stay at this hotel - clean and spacious rooms, rooftop pool with beautiful ocean views and very friendly owners who greet all guests with love at breakfast and dinner. Close to Positano.

The view from our room and in the dining room of the hotel was beautiful, but overall the place was run down. The road to the hotel from the direction we were coming in was closed. The hotel did not notify us in advance. What should have been an hour drive turned into 4 hours of twist and turns & sheer drops. It was an adventure. When we mentioned it to reception, suggesting that they contact future guests, we were told that they contacted all guests and we just didn't check our email. Not a good attitude to have - I assure you, we did not receive any messages from them. Reception did not give us a tour of the hotel. They were unable to tell us how to get to the steam room. We never found it. The sauna was an additional 20 Euros/per person. (Outrageous considering that we spent almost $500 for the room.) We stayed in nicer places for $150. Additionally, staff gave us bad directions. When I pushed back, she called another staff person over who gave us the correct information. We ordered a late lunch from the bar and asked to have it delivered to our room since the pool/patio area was so loud. They agreed - but then called us to go get the food. (another minus for the staff.) We had a pizza and salad. The price for the food was reasonable, but it was not very good and we did not finish it. Needless to say, we did not eat dinner in the restaurant. (the wine bar across the street was quite good). Breakfast was ok. The bed was hard, linen scratchy & bathroom tile chipped.

We were here for a few days on our honeymoon. Could not praise this hotel any more... the staff was excellent, breakfast was great, and the room was AMAZING! Also the WIFI is really fast. Nearby to resteraunts, the beach (15 minute walk), and tours to Capri and other areas. Definately would go back!

Hotel owners/staff were very nice. Cost was very high for sea view but patio's view was 2/3 blocked by another building. Location very convenient but requires car/bus to get anywhere. Hotel beach was cement platform with long stairs to access. Hotels in whole area are expensive but I expected more for the price on this one.

My husband and I decided at the last second to extend a business trip in Rome with a much needed break to somewhere on the Almafi coast, where neither of us had ever been. I part because Positano had no affordable rooms we ended up in Praiano and this hotel. In the end both the town and the hotel were what we needed and we couldn't have planned it better. The hotel was incredible in every respect - although important to get a room with a view, which most have. The staff - a large family who have been running the hotel for more than 60 years - were the best. The town, while no real shopping if that's what you want, has plenty of good restaurants and is steps away from a tremendous hike on the path of the Gods. Best of all you avoided the overwhelming crowds of the more well known nearby towns of Positano and Amalfi, although both easily accessible by hike, bus or car. We will go there again.

We had a great time at Tramonto D'Oro. The hotel is located right in the middle of town near several restaurants. It's a quick walk down to the beach and the pool on top of the hotel is nice too. The room had a nice balcony with great views. The breakfast each morning was great. The best part of the hotel was the staff. They were extremely accommodating, helping us book excursions, giving restaurant recommendations, and even providing us with coffees after the restaurant had closed. All in all a great stay and would absolutely recommend.

We had two rooms at this hotel and found the location perfect. It is between Positano and Amalfi. Although we had a car, we parked it at the hotel and took the SITA bus. The parking was free. We ate several meals at the restaurant and the food was very good. Breakfast was good and plentiful, especially with the view every morning. Would certainly stay here again.

My husband and I recently returned from our honeymoon on the Amalfi Coast. We didn't know much about the area prior to our trip, but we were drawn to the scenic beauty and all the cultural attractions. We were so lucky to have found Hotel Tramonto d'Oro. Upon arrival, after an exhausting day of travel, we were greeted with friendly service, a beautiful room with a stunning view, and a complimentary fresh fruit tray and a bottle of sparkling white wine! Everything about the hotel was welcoming: the clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated rooms; the friendly and knowledgable staff; and the breathtaking views around every corner. The staff did a terrific job of helping us plan our days to get the most out of the Amalfi Coast; they made great recommendations and in most cases they called and made reservations for us. Tramonto d'Oro, translated to English, means "Golden Sunset." Every evening, we sat out on our balcony with a bottle of red wine (it seemed that each night's wine selection was better than the one before), and we would watch the sun set over nearby Positano. We simply could not stop taking pictures of the incredibly scenic and architectural beauty that surrounded us. In general, I highly recommend staying in Praiano. Praiano is completely beautiful in its own right. There may not be as many shops and restaurants there, but it's close enough to some of the larger towns along the Amalfi Coast, which are easily accessible by car or bus. We spent a lot of time traveling to different spots along the coast, but we always looked forward to coming "home" to Praiano at the end of the day. It's so quiet and peaceful there. We felt very safe walking along the streets at night. Leaving Tramonto d'Oro was difficult. We felt like we were saying goodbye to family. They gave us a small ceramic tile with our names on it to remember them, and they asked us to come back soon. We hope to come back many, many times!
