My wife and I stayed in Pensacola Cristal on Saturday night before start our Portuguese Caminho the following day. We arrived about 2115 hours to be meet by a friendly person at the reception. Our room was fine but compact but all that we needed for one night. We did a quick change and then out for a couple of glasses of wine before getting our heads down. There a lots of great places in the streets around Cristal but the do generate a fair bit of noise into the early hours of the morning, but this did not concern us. Breakfast was nice, a strong coffe, some fruit juice and a selection of rolls. Overall a nice experience and I would have no hesitation in stay there again.
I unfortunately made my reservation late so I have few option at a good price. Found the Crystal Guesthouse on the internet. The day staff was great , specially Elisa and the servers at breakfast. The rooms were basic and clean . The location is great. It does get rowdy on weekend nights.
Great from start to finish. We arrived around 2am, smooth check in, very clean and renovated room, toiletries and towels included, room is being cleaned daily, you can have towels changed daily too if you leave them on the floor. Air conditioning works fine, nice black out blinds. The shower door was slightly broken but didn't affect the use. The shower pressure was excellent! The hotel has got a lift. 24/7 reception, they give out maps and tips. We were on the second floor next to a dining room/ kitchen. Breakfast served 8-10 am, it's a sweet pastry and two fresh buns with jam, cheese and butter, freshly prepared coffee and juice. Lots of music channels and English channels with Portuguese subtitles on. The hotel is in the heart of Porto so can be noisy at night with music and crowds from the street. Lots of lovely bars and restaurant nearby, just next door restaurant does a lovely buffet lunch for only €4.70. We took Uber taxi from and to the airport and it's very efficient and safe, only €12 each way. Easy access to town centre and canal, close to the train station S. Bento. You can go to Braga from Porto by train just over an hour costing €6.80. Would definitely stay there again !
I had the worst experience ever! Their staff were completely insensible and inhuman! They gave me the worst customer service ever! I arrived super late 2am ( as my flight was delayed) on Joan Night. All my friends were staying there they had checked in earlier as they were coming from different places. Unfortunately, we had to do some last minute changes and I did not have a place. My friends had tried to talk to the person at the reception but he had told us that I could not stayed. When I arrived at 2 am, I tried to explain him the situation, and ask him as a human favor to let me sleep with my friends as I did not have a place where to stay. He said I could not stay anywhere and he told me that I had to find another place. The city was completely full of people and it was difficult to find a place. I kind of beg him to let me stay but he did not care about the situation I was in and let me stay all night in the street. Luckly I found a much better hotel called eurostar das artes which is three times better and with a really good price!!!! The following day I went back to the hotel to pick up my friends. This time a lady was at the reception. I told her that I was going to pick up my friends. She responded that I could not stay longer than ten minutes as if I was going to do something wrong! They made me feel unwelcome! Even if the hostal is cute their staff are the least professionals and unfriendly people you can find in the whole porto!
Ideal place to stay downtown and enjoy the night life of this lively neighbourhood. Everything is close and within walking distance; restaurants, bars and night life. Will be back already next weekend.
You get what you pay for. The hotel is cheap, needs a renovation, but the location is great for a city break. It is located close to several attractions of the city and in the heart of Porto 's nightlife. The noise from the street is ok. Bring earplugs if you have a light sleep. Breakfast is simple, but you won't leave hungry.
I stayed in multiple hotels in Porto before I came to Cristal Guest House. I was amazed when I stayed at the Cristal Guest House for the first time. I already loved the environment and night life, but I didn't expect the interior to be so modern and obviously so renovated! I had great laughs with the employees which I will even remember for a long time!. Yes, you have a very small room, with all essentials available, and clean! Don't stay here if you are looking for a luxury large room for a silent piecefull night at a low price. If you are looking for perfect comfortable (budget) lodging to explore Porto and enjoy some of the very tempting night life as well, this is your place!
It has great location - near main square and historical center. Reception was efficient. Room was very small, with only few pieces of furniture - bed, one armchair, one small night drawer, one small open closet, phone and TV. It was quite clean and very bright. During the night it can be very loud, because the guesthouse is between two very lively streets. We had A/C and free WiFi in the room. Do not expect to much from the breakfast. It is the same every morning - you will get two buns, one croissant, one butter, one melted cheese, two jams, and coffee or tea. Despite some drawbacks, we give it a bit higher rating for the perfect location and reasonable price.
The young guy Tiago couldn't have been more welcoming, friendly or helpful. The room was small but it was fine, the bed was comfy, they maximise the limited space in all aspects. The bathroom was compact but modern and efficient. And the convenience of the location was only marginally affected by the noise from the nearby bars and clubs, and it wasn't noticeable until 5.30-6.00am anyway. Excellent continental breakfast too. Highly recommended.
We stayed at the Pensao Cristal for 3 nights. Although it was really well located - we were a 5 min walk from the Sao Bento and the Torre dos Clerigos - it was VERY noisy at night. The nightlife seemed to start around 10pm and last until 6am. Also, if you cannot sleep without air conditionning, this is probably not the hotel for you. It gets quite warm and the window barely opens. The room was clean, but small. However, rest assure that the hotel does have an elevator, which is always quite nice to bring your bags up to your room. The breakfast was okay. It had the basic essentials: 3 pastries and a drink. In terms of value, it was excellent. We paid 30 euros and got exactly what to expect at that price. We truly enjoyed being that close to all the city's attraction while staying on budget!
