Some reviews on various websites put down this resort. Not sure how staff carrying bags up to the room, welcoming smiling staff every morning, booking/ organising the Kuranda Railway train trip, plate of fresh local fruit in the fridge, large well appointed, clean apartment (it was a 3 bedroom apartment, not just a hotel room), quiet resort are bad things? No Pleasing some people.....We enjoyed a 3 bedroom first floor apartment at the back of the resort, away from the family groups (that's thoughtful staff as we didn't have kids and looked completely exhausted when we arrived - was it that obvious we needed a holiday!!!) and had a most enjoyable peaceful stay (although a hungry baby downstairs @ 3:30am one night is to be expected in a resort that has 2 - 3 bedroom apartments). This resort is directly across the road from the beach (well maybe 80metre walk), has 2 pools (one larger heated, one smaller, not heated) and a full tennis court. If you want to save some money, the two large bbqs were well used by ourselves as noone else seemed to be using them (recommend buying fresh prawns from the local fishing wharf rather than the local IGA/ Coles). It's maybe a 3 minute walk to the Surf club restaurant and maybe a 6 minute walk to the local Brumbys bakery and the main drag of Macrossan Street. Ample undercover parking available onsite. We stayed for 8 nights and even were rung to confirm that it was acceptable to service the room on the Wednesday and what time suited us!!!!

Stayed at the Mandalay Luxury Apartments for 10 nights. There were Four of us and we had booked a 2 bedroom apartment. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a 3 bedroom apartment. The apartment was first class and so spacious. (No. 25). Very large balcony. Loved the pool area, so tranquil and the water was heated! Reception staff were the best. Booked a trip to the Low Isles with them. Picked up from from reception and returned at the end of trip. 4 mile beach just a short stroll through the Trees, which was opposite the side entrance. Overall a very pleasant stay.

The Mandalay Apartments were beautifully appointed, spacious with excellent facilities. The staff were very helpful and the grounds were immaculate. We stayed in a three bedroom apartment which had everything you could possibly need. It was a 7 minute walk to central Macrossan Street (I timed it), which was a pleasant and much needed walk after a big meal in the lovely restaurant strip of central Port Douglas. The Surf Club is just around the corner along with a couple of lovely cafes along the same strip. The beach is across the road and made for sleeping well at night, listening to the soft sound of the waves. I liked the location as it was a little quieter than staying in the heart of Port Douglas.

Stayed at the Mandalay Luxury Beachfront Apartments for 6 nights. Booked a 2 room apartment, but were given a 3 room and it was great. All the rooms are big and furnished to a high standard. Storage space in all the bedrooms was huge, which was handy for storing the cases as well as clothes. Beds were really comfortable. It is a 10 minute walk into Port Douglas town centre, where there are lots of good restaurants, so good position. The beach is a 2 minute walk through a wooded area on a boardwalk. Has a nice pool with loungers and also has some protection from the sun. Staff really helpful and pleasant, helped and recommended day trips etc. Would definitely stay here again.

A very well planned luxurious apartments complex with plenty of covered parking place. Located in a green countryside, just a minute walk away from the beach. A great place for a medium or large family to enjoy the stay in Port Douglas. Easy to visit Cairns, Daintree rain forest, Green Island to watch the Great Barrier Reef and various other attractions around Cairns.

Very pleased with room and facilities, good bed,a conveinient place to stay, just a stroll to beach. Several restaurants within walking distance. Pool warm and roomy, with shallow end for small kids, Near very good seafood eateries with Smoked BBQ king prawns as a favourite.

We had appt 21. On the top floor. 3 bed and x 2 bathroom. We got free upgrade so for the two of us the apartment was huge and very nice. We had a very large kitchen / lounge. The kitchen was well equipped with a big double fridge, microwave, electric hob, dishwasher and a breakfast bar. We had a large balcony off the lounge with a 6 seater table and chairs and x 2 loungers. The lounge area had a big settee and Tv. There was a separate washing machine and dryer room. Given the wet weather we had, it was very useful. The main bedroom was a large en-suite. Nice shower unit with glass walls. His and hers sinks and jacuzzi type bath. We had large comfortable bed plus a big walk in wardrobe. Bedroom 2 was also big with walk in wardrobe. It had its own bathroom and separate toilet (not ensuite). All rooms had fans and air conditioning. The complex had a main pool which was quite small but good for a gentle swim. There were nice loungers round the outside. The complex was quiet when we were there so the pool was not used by other guests. There was also a tennis court and BBQ area for guests to use. We did not have car but there was large underground car park. The apartment is well situated about 10 min stroll to main town. It has its own separate walkway through trees to beach about 2 minutes. We went in the rainy season so the beach was full of debris from trees so beach did not look its best. Very pleased with apartment, and very good quality. The staff/owners were friendly and helpful.

We stayed there with a group of friends and had a nice time while staying there Our room was well appointed and clean with plenty of room The staff were friendly and eager to help in arranging transport and tours The location is central being an easy walk to town and the pool and gardens well maintained The only negatives are the stairs and the room lacked condiments We would stay there again

I recently stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment with my family of 6. Huge apartment, nice and clean, great location. I will definitely come back. Best family accomodation in PortDouglas. Highly recommend for family stays.

We stayed here for 4 nights last week and had a wonderful stay. Unfortunately my husband broke his ankle just before we checked in so it had been a stressful day spent at Mossman Hospital, but arriving at the hotel was the perfect antidote to the day. We were fortunate to have a ground floor (thank goodness!) apartment overlooking the pool and with easy access to the beach. We had 2 bedrooms, a big living area complete with a dining area and a really well equipped kitchen. The veranda was fabulous and enabled my husband to sit outside even with his ankle encased in plaster. This was a godsend as it would have been awful if he'd been stuck indoors for the last few days of our holiday. Our daughters loved the pool and enjoyed spending time in it. Some parts of the apartment looked a little tired but it absolutely didn't matter and we still felt that we were staying in a beautifully luxurious hotel. The washing facilities were wonderful and I made good use of them - having 2 airers and a tumble dryer made drying the clothes super easy and I was very grateful for them. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the main shops on Macrossan Street, and it was fantastic that you could potter along the beach to get to the end of the street. There is a good selection of shops in Port Douglas centre including a big Coles for any self catering requirements. We did a Great Barrier Reef trip and were collected from the hotel. This made life very easy! We also had a couple of takeaways (couldn't go out easily because of my husband's ankle) and it was brilliant that they would deliver to the hotel. Again, this just made life easier, particularly given the circumstances. Sam on reception was WONDERFUL. So willing to help and friendly, and we appreciated her help so much when we were dealing with the travel insurance company and trying to work out how to get back to the UK. I have no hesitation in recommending the Mandalay (and thank you again for all your help and such a great stay!)
