We booked a three room apartment and found that for the money it was a little dated, but it was school holidays. We could hear the people upstairs just walking around (please people, get carpet in the living rooms!!) Worst of all there was construction next door which was an unpleasant surprise at 6.30am! I have to thank Lesley here who really helped us out and got us a different room away from the construction. She was amazing and it really changed our holiday. Thank you again Lesley. I suppose in these situations it is the luck of the draw. . . but for mine if you have construction next door to your hotel, you need to reduce your room rates, or at least be transparent with your customers. It is painful to get to your holiday and find out you have jackhammers and drills all day! Lastly, the pools could have a few shade covers removed. They are 90% under cover!!
This was a huge disappointment! Stayed in the Penthouse 24! Well it was like stepping back in time, the decor was appalling the fit out is in desperate need of a make over! In fact so is the Management team old grumpy and tied and passed providing any type of customer service. We paid $5,100 for 7 nights and would have preferred to sleep on the beach. The TV’S didn’t work & when I asked for someone to inspect it was like he was doing me the favour. Although a tv technician did turn up the next morning to fix them, and guess what not fixed. If you want to use the Tennis court beware you are only allocated 30 mins!! Will never stay there again unless new owners and Management I would struggle to give this place 3 stars
We stayed at the Mandalay for 5 nights. We were two couples and requested a high floor which had three bedrooms which of course had plenty of room and two bathrooms. Around midnight each night there is a consistent noise coming from the roof which we gather was the water heating or A/C in the ceiling between the roof which made sleeping throughout the evening difficult and I am usually a heavy sleeper! In the morning if your room is near the pool area the noise and screaming from the children in the pool from 7.30 is consistently loud. It would have been appreciated if we were told this upon booking or check in. Upon arrival I requested cleaning of the rooms which of course was not part of our package. $60 for cleaning per day which I was told included cleaning bathrooms bedrooms, kitchen and replacing towels. The standard of cleaning was poor. We are both organized and clean couples however the cleaner left the kitchen without sorting and cleaning. I think for the price we paid for extra cleaning the standard was poor. Then on check out I was handed the bill and of course checked the account and realized an extra day for cleaning was on my account. So please check your account before you depart! Personally we would not return to this apartment complex as the price does not represent the standard we would expect and the description of 'luxury' is certainly far from true.
We have just returned from 8 nights at Mandalay Port Douglas. From the beautifully clean and well appointed 2 bedroom apartment - with an amazing welcoming fruit platter, to the fabulous staff - big shout out to Raeleen and Sam in particular. We had a really enjoyable stay. Location is brilliant. Literally three minute walk from our bottom floor apartment to Four Mile beach and walking distance to town, the Marina and shops. The mid week apartment service was very much appreciated and our 2 year old spent many hours splashing in the lovely pool. The only negative was that we couldn't stay longer. We will be back for sure! Thanks to everyone at Mandalay, including Milo. Arlen hopes you're having fun with your yellow ball.
The apartment was spacious and very comfortable. Directly opposite the beach and just far enough from the main street to be quiet and relaxing but an easy stroll when we wanted to wander in for a coffee or meal. Management of the apartments were friendly and very helpful when we needed assistance or advice.
Fabulous location, so close to the beach and easy walking distance to main street. Stayed in 3 bedroom apartment, very spacious, clean & all needs covered. Big outdoor balcony with beautiful palms and trees that provided a great tropical feel with the sound of the beach in the background. Lovely greeting on arrival by Milo the gorgeous kelpie cross, best checkin ever 😆😆. Highly recommend this place.
Mandalay has one of the best locations in Port Douglas - next to the beach, away from any traffic, while perfectly located to the main street with all the shops and restaurnats. Highly recommend Mandalay if location is key to you.
This is our first time at Mandalay, stayed in 3 bedroom beachfront apartments, would definitely return, large apartment, comfortable beds, when we arrived there was a large plate of fresh fruit waiting for us, much appreciated! Short walk into Port Douglas, beach just across the road.
We stayed for 6 nights in July - a family of four. We had a two bedroom unit which was very spacious - kitchen, lounge/dining area, two bathrooms and a utility room. Much appreciated tea/coffee, toiletries/toilet roll etc which was provided to start us off as we arrived late in the evening. All kitchen utensils provided, and it was great to have a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer and even a clothes horse. It was nice to have two pools as you could choose the quieter one if it got busy and it was literally three minutes from the beach - miles of lovely sand. The lifeguard area was just a few minutes along the beach so we could swim safely. Plenty of restaurants to choose from plus pizza, fish and chips etc takeaways. Port Douglas is very nice and much quieter than Cairns. Very enjoyable stay, highly recommended.
A group of 16 of us from Glenelg Golf Club(SA) had our annual golf trip to Port Dougla.. We stayed at the Mandalay & must say its as good as anywhere we have stayed & we have been doing it for over 20 years now. Great spacious 2 & 3 bedroom apartments, Good pools, BBQ areas & also a tennis court which is in good condition. The property is in a great location just a stone throw from the beach & close walking distance(about 1km) from the main drag(Macrossan st) but if you have had too much to drink or feeling a bit lazy they have local shuttles that will drop you home for $3. The staff at Mandalay were all very helpful & polite. We are planing our 2018 golf trip already & have all voted to return to Port Douglas & again at Mandalay. Cheers & Thanks to all at Mandalay & see you in 12 months.
