We enjoyed 7 days here with my family. I would definitely love to come back. The hotel has perfect location, restaurant with sea view and natural shadows from the sun - great for baby naps. The staff is kind and helpful. Maria from the front desk was very nice, upon our request she gave us a nice baby crib and a ground floor room. Also the restaurant girl was very kind and helpful. The hotel has a clean beach, great beach bar with fair drink prices. There is definitely space for improvement. The pillows are like stones, there is no liquid soap nor paper towels in the restaurant toilet. For breakfast they don't serve water nor fresh fruits (some outdated apple), eggs only twice a week. The dinner was most of the time very delicious. There are no mosquito nets in the rooms and there are mosquitoes :).
Porto Matina hotel is the best place one could imagine for spending a holiday! The facilities are just amazing and the staff is the most flexible and friedliest I have ever met! The beach is just in front of your door and the cheerful waiters from the bar take care of you during the day. The breakfast and the dinner are very rich and you can find everything you would like to eat. Not to forget the breathtaking view from the balconies. With this excellent service and relaxed atmosphere this place is the real Greek paradise which everyone should experience!
The hotel is OK. Rooms are large and clean. The food is poor. There is no choice. Only one meat. But it is tasty and there is a nice view from the terrace. The staff is friendly. The beaches around are good.
We spent 10 lovely days at Porto Matina. Maria from front desk was very nice and after our first night she gave us a room on ground floor-perfect for our family (2 children, one of them a 9 month baby). The food was fresh and very good, the garden was perfect for the children, the Greek Night was lovely. It is closer to a 3 stars hotel than 2 stars. It has a small beach with chairs and umbrellas, the water was warm and nice. It was a good holliday. Bianca
Despite the fact that this is a 2** hotel all the services go beyond that. A hotel with garden, playground, table tennis, a small basket and an organized beach (I forgot I had kids! all day they played in the garden and in the seasand) Quick Wi- Fi, greek night was perfect, kids cinema was nice while we where watcing the mοon eclipse. At the restaurant a sea breeze freshened us all day. Nice, polite stuff, everyday cleaning, every two days change sheets.
Booked via booking.com which was rated as a 4*, assessed at the end of our stay not even as 1* Hotel. Checked in while we were waiting for the receptionist. We were given a two bedroom apartment, spacious on the ground floor facing the see. Amazing location, small Hotel and quiet. After that, more or less dissapointed. Went for dinner as booked on H/B, food was ow-full. A choice of three salads mixed with leftovers, some warm dishes diffidently not for dinner, rather for a kids buffet or for a breakfast section. Breakfast, more or less the same. While being disappointing we asked during first dinner for some chicken breast and thanks to the waiter prepared. The second evening-dinner asked for some Pork-cutlets and refused. Above all, when compliant to the Greek owners, we were blamed more or less for complaining, rather than to receive an apologize and to be offered something alliterative. I am a Hotel General Manager with twenty years of international experience in quality four and five star Hotels, I was totally dissapointed (my wife it's a professional cook who is working for the last twenty years in a 5* reputable Hotel in Cyprus) . The good thing of the story, at least they tried to improve some how their breakfast and dinner during our last two remaining evenings. Nevertheless, it's a shame to offer such a product nowadays.
We stayed at Porto Matina at the end of May. Our apartment was always cleaned to an excellend standard. The hotel has a superb location, with the restaurant terrace overlooking the sea and the beach right outside. The back door of our apartment led to the back garden, where our children played. The food was simple but with sufficient variety and an excellent value for money. The service by all staff and the receptionist was excellent too. We'd love to go back!
Having visited Metamorfosi after the flood we guessed that the beach in front of hotel was not good but it was literally awful. That is not hotel's fault but it affected our holiday. We were on halfboard basis and the food was ok. Dinner was better than breakfast, but even for breakfast you could eat well. Only complaint was lack of eggs for breakfast, only 2 times in 10 days. Cleaning was done every day, but very poorly. They just made the beds and that is it. There was dust all over the room and bathroom was especially neglected. To be fair, it musz be said that all the staff were polite and smiling, but I would not visit Porto again.
Over the road up there and here we are at the gate of the hotel. We could not accommodate until 2 o'clock, being prepared from home for the beach. I asked Maria to give us a sea-view room on a higher floor and did not disappoint us. The hotel is well positioned, all rooms have a view of the sea but also have a smaller body in the side of the bigger one and beyond the sea. The hotel looks good, it deserves the stars. We were very excited when we found in the room 4 adult beds and one for the baby for 1.5 years, enough space for storage, the spacious bathroom and everything functional. When I walked out of the balcony, I reached the height of the accommodation, a gorgeous sea view unimpeded by anything combined with the soothing sound of the waves. The big balcony and everything clean, the grille looked new because it was good, the air conditioner was in good condition, lcd ok, the refrigerator was ok, the balcony was sliding shutters that did their job very well, the smell clean and hard. Every day cleaning was done, garbage was arranged, and bedding changed three days later. The food chapter is all for everyone, it was fresh and tasty, the proof that our little one and the two boys ate on all kinds of saturated foods without having a digestive problem. The beach was sandy but stony in water and a hedgehog, and the seaside was stony and sandy. We went every day to another beach, one more gorgeous than another. I would recommend only a few: Kouvio, Kalogria, Lagomandra beach on the west, and east Vourvouru, Lagonisi, Orange beach. More I leave you the pleasure to discover them I will walk on every street that leads to the beach. As a conclusion it was great and we will come back with pleasure there, even if the local beach is not the taste of many, the hotel is well positioned and you can go quietly on the beautiful beaches nearby. I wish you only good weather, the rest of the Greeks are in charge!
This hotel is in a very convenient location, only a few steps from the sea and very close to the main land. The view is spectacular!! The personnel working is always friendly and eager to help any way possible! The rooms are clean and fresh and the food is also very good. All in all a hotel worth a lot more than what i payed for!
