Squam Lake is truly beautiful, nature at its best. Property owners hide their cabins from the lake; the surrounding mountain land has been saved from development. We had our own patio with chair/lounge.The Inn itself was originally built as a Mansion and has exquisite detailing in the public rooms. We really enjoyed our 3 nights stay in the Stratford Room (King, fireplace, lake view). The heating and A/C worked very well. Very comfortable, high end bedding. We were there when the leaves were beautiful, Oct 21-24, 2017. The food is very good at the Inn, although we went to Lake Winnipesakee for dinner at Lago 1 night, which was excellent. The couple that runs the Inn is really dedicated to keeping the "feel" of a British-inspired home. They are very helpful at helping with things to do. Our boat ride on the Squam Lake was wonderful. The Science Center was already shut down for the season, so we went with Cindy from Experience Squam, which the Inn set up for us. She was extremely informative and friendly. We also went to "The Castle in the Sky" built by another early 20thc. millionaire. Beautiful drive, hike and house, with amazing views. We also took a hike in the Chamberlain-Reynolds preserve.
We stayed in the Avon room and I highly recommend this room for a couple looking for a bit of privacy. It is located on the third story by itself and is absolutely beautiful. Photos do not do the room justice. The room has an ambiance to it that is very romantic and relaxing. My husband and I stayed two nights. The bed and sheets were very comfortable, the room was dark for sleeping, and the fireplace was a perfect place to snuggle up. We stayed in late October and even though we wanted to run the fireplace some, when we got warm the A.C. worked great. The room was quiet. The Jacuzzi was an additional bonus complete with candles, wine glasses in room, and turn down service with a treat. The room was incredibly clean and I have very high standards when it comes to this. The Avon room does not have as much of a viee but we didnt mind since we went outside if we wanted to enjoy the scenery. The privacy of this room more than made up for not having a balcony. The staff was helpful but not intrusive. The food at the restaurant was great. The breakfast that is included is outstanding. Dinner is luxurious but a bit pricey. Great for a nice evening. The main area has so much history and is very welcoming. We enjoyed the amenities such as cider and coffee served throughout the place. The cable and Netflix also worked well when we wanted to watch a movie one evening. Can't recommend this place enough. I don't normally take time to write reviews as a busy mom of little ones, but I wanted to thank the Manor on Golden for the great experience.
We enjoyed our stay here in late October 2017. The property and grounds are beautifully maintained. The staff were very helpful. We didn't have dinner at The Manor, just breakfast which was excellent. Excellent, fast service and great food! The room (Stratford) was lovely, many amenities along with a log fireplace. The views of the lake were gorgeous! I would highly recommend staying at The Manor.
We were looking for a one night romantic getaway to celebrate our anniversary. Fortunately we were able to secure a room at this lovely inn. Gorgeous setting with views of Squam Lake. Our room had everything you could ever ask for, including jacuzzi, fireplace, flat screen tv, deck, coffeemaker, and plenty of seating. Dinner was elegant and delicious. Same goes for breakfast. Innkeepers were very charming and helpful. We will be back!
Our suite had the most wonderful view over Squam Lake with all the stunning Autumn colours. Attention to detail was excellent and advice on local activities so helpful. The hotel is small and friendly. The breakfast which is included in the room rate was very good with plenty choice and the afternoon tea a very welcome touch. A lively little bar/pub and dinner in the dining room very good. The service throughout our 4 night stay was excellent. A very quiet hotel during the night so a great night’s sleep.
Set on a hill overlooking the lake, this B&B exudes charm and elegance. We had the Buckingham room at the top of the stairs which was a suite. The bed was very comfortable and their was no noise level from below. A wonderful breakfast and a really excellent dinner menu to choose from. The best entree over the two nights we stayed was the pork osso bucco . Outstanding! Quiet, serene, an ice afternoon tea time was enjoyed. Very nice innkeepers and helpful with directions, etc.
This is a lovely property with a great ambiance, staff and amenities. We were able to easily book a massage appointment and dinner reservation. When we asked for something to be brought to our room, it was done immediately. The food was great, the room was great. I can't say enough good things about this place.
I believe this property is well over a hundred years old. The Manor like the lake history and many lake properties brings you back to another era. Lots of details in the rooms, nice mix of old and new. Bed was very comfortable, slept deeply which is rare when not home. The entire Holderness area except out on the lake has lousy cell service. SO WHAT !!! Nice escape from the 21st century drama lol. Very nice breakfast menu and breakfast. Never a wait for anything, timing was perfect between courses. Very relaxing escape.
We were so looking forward to our stay at the Manor on Golden Pond. After reading reviews and studying the pictures I was very excited to arrive at this property. I think people who write the negative reviews of this property may not know the true charms of older properties. What makes a difference to a these older Inns is the level of detail to maintenance and keeping up the property. Which we felt was outstanding. The room we had was charming and romantic. We used the oversize tub and the wood burning fireplace each night and were even able to access Amazon Prime and NetFlix for movies at night (was able to pull up "On Golden Pond") while we sat on the oversized couch cuddling with a few drinks. The bed was comfortable and with the many lights and dimmers we were able to make room romantic in every possible way. They even had candles at the mirrored wall jacuzzi that reflected the twinkling lights while relaxing. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and served quickly and efficiently. Brian (owner) was very helpful with advising of the nautical navigation through Squam Lake as we advised we had rented a boat for the day. We had a drink upon check in with another couple in the Pub. A small but delightful place to talk with others. We played games in the living room after breakfast of backgammon and Chinese Checkers. I used the pool for a refreshing dip after the hot day in late September and it was a perfect way to end the late afternoon before preparing for dinner. The housekeeper was very nice and did an excellent job in cleaning the room. When we came back from breakfast from the first morning she was there cleaning and when we asked for some private time to prepare for the day, she suggested that we take our time and carefully placed the privacy sign on the door and suggested we have time for romance with a smile. Even at check in, the lady who showed us our room in the Annex Building made sure to come back with the privacy sign and suggested that we both take time for romance. If you ever want to perk up your relationship, take time for your self and your loved one, relax, and be surrounded by beauty at the property and the surrounding areas..this is the place to be. Thank you Manor on Golden Pond. This was memorable in everyway.
Loved our stay at The Manor on Golden Pond! Innkeepers Mary Ellen and Brian as well as the entire staff were extremely courteous, friendly and eager to please. The food was wonderful! We particularly enjoyed the homemade gnocchi with lobster sauce, Manor Tournedos: wonderful!, scallops, Bolognaise, and Apple Cinnamon French Toast Casserole!
