We stayed at the Crowne Plaza on a weekend break in Plymouth. As our plans had changed the staff were very flexible and allowed us to leave our second night open. Reception staff very helpful. Large comfortable rooms and good service in the Penthouse Bar. View of the Hoe and position were excellent.
The gf had a works do there so we booked a room for the night, the room was really nice. When we were ready to go out and the gf wanted to look at herself in the mirror, there wasent a really, what you'd call, bright light, so she could see herself. So maybe they could look at the lighting in the room.... Unless we missed it. Everything else was great, the food was nice, the staff were really nice and friendly and it was a nice hotel.
We always stay at the Crowne Plaza when we go to Plymouth. I find it to be very warm and cosy, The rooms are spacious with very big and comfortable beds. The mini bar is includes a variety of tea /coffee, chocolate, water, cookies that are offered at no charge. The staff are friendly and of various nationalities which I like. It is very close to town and so convenient. They serve a continental /english buffet breakfast of a good quality.
Arrived Friday evening for a two night stay. Placed on the 4th floor with a car park view but we had a pretty good rate so to be expected. What wasn't expected was the arctic blast on the corridor of the 4th floor. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Nice added touch of complimentary water and a bar of chocolate. Further very welcome additional touch were the bathrobes and the sleep spray! Breakfast was served on the PH Floor and WOW what a view and an excellent breakfast served with lots of choice and very relaxing. Welcoming manager and friendly serving staff who were bright, incredibly attentive and clearly very well trained and a pleasure to be around. Saturday morning however, we woke up to NO HOT WATER and therefore shower was out of the question until after breakfast whent he boiler had been restarted. The afternoon was extremely cold, we returned to our room to warm up and unfortunately found our heating was not working. We contacted housekeeping, who informed us that the engineers had left for the day, but HUGE THANK YOU to Clare who couldn't be more helpful. I seconded here whilst she was vacuuming the arctic hallway, she stood with me whilst we tried to get the panel to blow warm air, then returned later to check- when we agreed it wasn't working, she went out or her way to come back quickly with a mobile heater, which whilst wasn't ideal, certainly took off the chill of the room. It was mentioned when we checked out and the receptionist took off the small drinks bill as way of compensation. Again another sign of good client service, perhaps more should have been done to compensate - we were still charged £5 for parking, but after a pleasant weekend, I didn't want to ruin it by having to negotiate a reduction and needed to get on my way to London. Planning to come back to Plymouth next year, I would consider rebooking, depending on the weather!!!
Lovely room on 10th floor. Bedroom recently decorated and bed was extremely comfortable. Tea/coffee and water all available in the room. The only think wrong with our room was a large whistling noise coming from the window. However it didn’t really effect us. Staff placed champagne as requested for my partner and there was also a complementary box of fudge and a card too. We would definitely stay here again. We ate at Pierre Marco White’s restaurant on the pent house floor which was fantastic.
We pulled up at the front entrance to the hotel in the pouring rain and unloaded four suitcases from our hire car. Nobody came out of the hotel to help us and indeed, as we lugged our bags into the Hotel, a member of staff at the concierge did not even bother to come over and help. This simply is not good enough for a Crowne Plaza branded hotel. The reception staff on the other hand were excellent and speedily checked us in. As an IHG Platinum Elite member, I was upgraded and the room was very acceptable other than there was only one bath towel for two guests and the telephone did not work at all. The room however was clean, warm and well appointed and, there were complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. Also, two small bottles of complimentary still water and a small bar of Dairy Milk Chocolate. A Nice touch. The bathroom was clean and bright with a good quality shower provided with plenty of hot water. Car parking was an extra £5 per day which will rise to £7.50 in the New Year. I’m not sure how a 50% increase can ever be justified though. The hotel has a swimming pool and a Sauna which are excellent too. One thing that I do not like, are the barren hotel corridors devoid of any pictures or artwork and makes you feel like walking into a dismal place. Overall a good hotel but not worthy of my posting a five roundel review.
One night Stay .. great hotel. Amazing area and very friendly staff. Food was first class .. rooms good size and wifi was first class- only negative was the car park.. but can’t complain- thank you Frontdesk- will definitely return.
On our way down to Plymouth my wife realised she booked for the following night,so straight on to their central booking centre where we gave our booking reference and they were able to change our arrival date with out any problems "great service ". We arrive at the reception later in the day to find out we had actually booked ourselves in too one of the groups outher hotels by mistake once again the receptionist came to our rescue and managed to sort out everything for us,without making us feeling anymore stupid than we already did. Best thing about the hotel 1. The staff could not have been more helpful and professional in carrying out their duties. 2 The facilities, fantastic penthouse restaurant with lovely views, The swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym, 3 The hotels position you couldn't get better, 4 The breakfast which I felt was good quality and even better value. 5 the atmosphere no matter were we went in the hotel we were made to feel welcome and were able to relax. We are already planning our next visit to the crown plaza later in the year. Regards. M. Williams.
Stayed here one night in December 2017, with my 13 year old son, Room looked recently refurbished and smell of new carpets in corridor (which is good). The room was very clean and also has air conditioning and free bottled water and chocolate bar. Very nice room, comfortable bed only minor negative was size of bathroom and shower head didn't fit in the holder correctly. Lovely pool, suitable for children and there was also a Steam room, sauna and gym. The breakfast was served in the penthouse (Top-11th floor) from which there are fantastic views of Hoe and Sea. The breakfast food was good, but could've been warmer. There was a good variety of options. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel, and will come again. (Make sure to buy breakfast in advance, otherwise its more expensive)
320 of us went for a seasonal Christmas lunch on 19/12/2017, the layout was perfect, seating plan easy to follow, and helpfulness of staff 2nd to none, also nothing was any trouble, as for food it was up there with the best Plymouth has to offer. Would we go to this place again, YES without any fear of being disappointed. Free parking at back of hotel,, collect token from reception first. Thanks to all staff for being so lovely, and passing the day away like a breeze.
