The room was ok. Breakfast in the morning without going out was great. Room was lit by CFLs. Half were not working and one was on floor. Sink drain was slow and non-working light over sink only the ceiling light available. The bath fan sounded like a turbo - prop plane for about 5 minutes and was tied into light switch so no opportunity to turn it off separately.
The room was nice with a couch, a coffee table, two chairs, a desk, two end tables, a refrigerator & microwave and lots of towels. The young man working there was very nice. He recommended the Common Man for dinner. Dinner was great. The hotel had breakfast in the morning.
We stayed here while visiting the Franconia area (Flume Gorge, Artist's Bluff hike, Cannon tram). It was a bit out of the way (about half hour drive) but we had a very pleasant stay. Pros: -Short walk (~half mile) to a downtown area with delicious dinner options -- I'd highly recommend The Common Man! -Clean room, bathroom, lobby -Good (not great) included breakfast -- yogurt, sausage, bagels, fruit -Friendly staff -AAA discount Cons: -Very thin walls/doors -- could hear everything in the hallway and outside -Not super close to the White Mountains but definitely doable -- very scenic drive
Picked this hotel while traveling on business. Easy access, has a few restaurants close by, or more annoying dinner selections if you don't mind a college town environment in Plymouth. Room was great, bed very comfortable, could open the windows (yeah)! Only downside is they don;t serve real brewed coffee, so you can try and stomach an automatic instant coffee machine (yuk). I would stay again and get a few packs of real coffee for the little machine in the room.
this hotel has no major frills, but has all the necessities. if you are heading to the lake area, particularly Squam, this is a potential place to stay. the room had windows facing toward the interstate, and nevertheless, it was remarkably quiet. good job on the soundproofing. they have an included breakfast, which was OK, not fancy. staff friendly. parking easy. room was comfortable overall, but only major criticism was lack of focused lighting, as over half of each bed and a reading light for the corner chair. exercise room across from us had no noise. dog friendly. beds comfortable. bathroom no frills, but shower good, hot, and enough towels. this hotel does what it needs to do: comfortable room, safe, convenient. not fancy.
Nothing fancy here, but they have it all.. The shades work well, the AC is efficient, basic toiletries and copious hot water.. The daytime staff is very very helpful, I suspect it's the owners and family. As mentioned before, the night shift can be a little grumpy, but who can blame them. Didn't use the pool, but there is one. I printed out a doc from the PC's and printer which was very convenient.
We stayed here to celebrate our daughter's birthday the next day without having to deal with weekend traffic and a round-trip long drive in one day. The hotel was very comfortable. It had a nice, heated outdoor pool and a lovely breakfast including eggs, sausage and bacon. We enjoyed it.
I have read most of the reviews and frankly I have nothing negative to say about this establishment. We arrived at 2am and there was a friendly desk attendant that greeted us by name as we walked through the door. Our room was ready, clean, and didn't smell as others mentioned. The Continental Breakfast was decent and worth stopping by. Checkout was flawless and we would frankly go back if ever in the area. We were just passing through and needed a place to stay for the night and I'm glad we found it. Thank you very much.
Needed a place to stay for camp pick-up and at the time we booked, thought we needed a pet-friendly room. This was a clean, simple option. But be aware, you can hear EVERYTHING in adjoining rooms. We awoke to a phone ringing, and both tried to answer ours only to realize it was either next to or above us.....
I thought the property should be nicer for $148.50 per night. The room was clean but dated. The towel rack in the bathroom fell off of the wall, housekeeping never came to my room, and the Direct TV was out for most of my visit. The breakfast was the usual free breakfast, but the breakfast bar attendant was very friendly, helpful and kept the area stocked and clean.
