One thing I’ve realized after 2 weeks in Sicily is that the norm is for the hosts not to be present, so if you want more privacy and freedom that’s good. If you need lots of assistance might not be so good. But that’s been overall all over the islands. But when I arrived I had to call them and wait 5-10 minutes for them to arrive. In my experience also almost no English was spoken, but we managed to communicate and make things happen, and that was enough for me. I also enjoyed the privacy.
