Terrible condition Rotting timber on deck Very average and old old Friendly staff as always Thai people beautiful Prepaid 4 nights and biggest mistake ever... Let's see how the restaurant is and pool. Shuttle only leaves once a day at 11am and have pre book or can't get a seat
Needless to mention that this resort has its pros and cons but this review will mainly highlight some of the improvement points and safety gaps in this resort. First of all, let me begin by saying that the rates were quite competitive for a three en-suite bedroom suite with a private lap pool. The service was very personal and warm. We stayed in the three bed pool suite. All of the rooms are en-suite which made our stay very comfortable. The suite also had a separate half bath, a TV room, dinning area and a fully equipped kitchen. The location is not close to any of the local attractions of tourist spots which made it tedious to take a cab for every time we had to step out. The breakfast was simple and basic. This resort is not suitable for a family with kids or seniors for the following reasons: 1. It is located on top of a hill so every time you have to go out for a walk you have to walk up and down the hill. 2. The suite as well as the breakfast area has extremely dangerous gaps in their balconies that a child can easily slip out and fall down many floors down on the ground. I have attached photos to explain what i mean. 3. The suite had lots of lizards and mosquitoes which i guess was part and parcel of a resort on a hill.
I only post reviews when they are really valid and as a warning to others looking for honest advice before booking accommodation. The Quarter ranks as perhaps the worst hotel i have stayed at for a very long time. Rooms are dirty and obviously havent been cleaned or dusted for months. the ceiling fans and window cills are covered in thick dust and dead insects everywhere. The bed sheets had stains on them. The bathroom ceiling had a big brown stain from a previous leak. Toilet seat and lid dirty, dirty, dirty. Rubbish was littered on the roof visible from the landings, the balcony deck was rotten in places and the jacuzzi unusable.each wardrobe had two broken old metal hangars only. When we asked for some wine glasses all that we were offered was one and it was cracked. Breakfast was beyond disgusting using very cheap product. No matching cutlery or glassware. having read previous reviews I can only assume it is the staff or owners that are posting the good reviews. As a word of warning DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
Hotel is NOT Luxury as advertised!! Everything dirty and run down. First impression after arriving tired from flight was WOW then when we woke in the morning we were very disappointed. we booked a 3 bedroom penthouse, house keeping was poor such as: -floors dirty -benches smeared/poorly wiped in kitchen and bathrooms -furniture and curtains stained and filthy -fans filthy -aircon noisy and some broken -walls splattered with muck -old tatty towels and bed linens(but clean) No gym and tennis court as advertised (under disrepair) and the photos online misleading and not current. A steep hill leads to the property and 10 minute walk to beach (only problem if unfit or small children) I could go on..but I think you should get the picture by now...Not happy! On the positive -staff are friendly and tried to be helpful -breakfast (needs improvement!) but adequate ..eggs, basic cereal, yoghurt, Chinese option, watermelon/banana. -shower good -view nice Staff tried to clean and fix all our problems but due to lack of maintenance/up keep hotel needs major clean up and repair to bring it up to standard. I would not recommend this property!
We stayed at the Quarter as our first stop on a 6 week trip. First impression on arrival was it looked tired in places. We were shown to our room which was spacious with very effective air conditioning & good wi-fi & it looked over the pool. The accommodation is fairly good with a nice area for sitting & eating ,good bathroom & shower , be warned not much privacy as it has glass sliding doors. The accommodation needs some updating, there is a small jacuzzi as part of the room looking over the pool which would be great to use its not very inviting it needs repainting & freshening up as does the pool area. If these small things were done it would make all the difference. Breakfast is included, which is just adequate they could offer more choice & provide better tea & coffee. On the plus side , the staff couldn't be more helpful, the rooms are cleaned & towels changed daily. The accommodation is a short walk from restaurants & Surin beach which is worth a visit. Just to point out it has a pretty steep incline to get to it if your walking so not suitable if your unfit!
Pros: -Cheap -1km from the beach -Has a wicked Thai drink stall nearby -Halal food offerings near by -English-speaking staff -Friendly security Cons: -Ambiguous policy on number of children per room (be sure to clarify this) -Big lizards, mosquitoes, dragonflies and sparrows are frequent visitors in rooms and bowls found in breakfast area -Staff preoccupied and quite evidently non-smiley -Food left overnight in breakfast area -Super steep hill makes the resort highly inaccessible; very difficult for elderly and children to move around -Pool in room enclosed by rusty bars and lots of spaces make it dangerous for children to swim around in -Toilets are grotty and clogged up by mysterious 'hair of Sadako' that appears even after every day of housekeeping -Peeling loo floors, dirty towels, stained curtains, sofa show massive neglect -Air con lulls you to non-sleep with constant rattling I have been to other Phuket resorts so this is not just nitpicking.
The pool was extremely great and the room services were excellent! However, what they could have done better would be their free 'coffee and tea' packaging. The tea packaging that I had, was already opened. I find it disgusting. At the same time, they did not throw the trash that was in the kitchen. We had free fruits and the breakfast was good. The rooms are all so spacious. The staffs were polite and they took time and had a lot of patience communicating with me due to the language barrier. They are able to speak extremely basic English but I have to say, they are so calm trying to understand us. I give them 5/5 for that.
Value for money! Excellent staff. Especially Pa was great, polite, good english speaking and helpful. She was willing to call to trip services, arrange for us car rental and bike at the best price she could bargain, she also drove us to the airport!!!
Myself and my 2 adult children stayed in a 3 bedroom Luxury pool penthouse in July and it was perfect for us and whilst unsure when booking I found the location perfect. We didn't want to stay in a resort that could have been in any country in the world as far as you would know from inside. I read reviews that said that had a horrible big hill to get to it. The hill was very much shorter than expected and was fine, and where I live there are no hills so I'm not used to hills at all. Surin Beach was an easy 5 minute stroll down the road and was the best beach I came across. There a few food and drink stalls there but next to no hawkers on the beach or the walk. It was surf season when we were there and the waves were good. There was an absolute gem of a restaurant / bar down the southern end with the waves lapping at the front. Peaceful, quiet, good food and yummy cocktails all cheap as chips. Surin has an awesome tailor, plenty of convince stores, massage and beauty places, and variance of restaurants. There was no need to go anywhere else but also a great place to base yourself to explore the island. We went to Patong and that wasn't far either but was very glad we didn't stay there. It was extremely hectic. And we went in the off season. The staff at the hotel were so genuine and delightful. There was one staff member who's English was perfect but as with most of Phuket good English was rare. But even if she wasn't working if the staff were struggling to communicate they would ring her and she would sort out any questions at anytime happily. They were unbelievably beautiful people. As I saw in other reviews the resort was a little tired but nothing serious. A lick of paint would fix it. It was really quite stunning and comfortable. Not much to watch on tv in English but I only know that as I had a look out of curiosity and the free wi fi kept all entertained during the small windows of down time. We were able to get a few simple supplies and made food occasionally but they also have a good restaurant menu that delivers to the resort all day for free. I would love to go back and if I do return to Phuket the Quarter is where I will be staying.
We received a free upgrade to a penthouse which was great! Can't complain too much about that. Initial impression was good however there are a few things that need to be fixed. Some of the floor boards on the deck were rotting and starting to break. The water pressure was a bit lacking and the hot water was hit and miss as well. There are also some marks on some of the furniture. Nit picky stuff but for the price they are things you'd expect to be a bit better. 9/10 is a more accurate score than 4/5
