I am very confused by all the great reviews. The one positive I can say is that breakfast was good (few dairy free options though). The place overall was just bizarre. The decor is a very weird mix of fake "old" style stuff and new IKEA type furniture (lots of plastic chairs and tables). They badly need to hire a designer because whoever chose the decor has no taste. The location is convenient to the highway but not at all romantic or nice. It's literally right off the main highway and the area around is not good at all. The view from my window was of highway construction. I wouldn't care in a two star hotel but for a place that calls itself a four star hotel, I really expect better. The final straw was that the wellness area requires a booking and is a separate 25 euro fee per person. The website where I made my reservation (Agoda) did not mention that at all. I said this at the desk and they responded that their website says all of that. They have a responsibility to make sure that is clear on all places online where a reservation can be made, not just their own site. Also, their website mentions needing a reservation for services but doesn't say prices and doesn't say that even the hot tub requires a separate fee. I find a few just to sit in a hot tub completely ridiculous. We chose this place for the hot tub so we are very unhappy about it. Room was large and the shower and bathroom were fine. The toiletries were very sub standard for a four star hotel and did not include basic items like conditioner (only combined shampoo/bath gel which will completely destroy one's hair). Very disappointed.
Quite, comfortable, very kind staff. Greatly restored building, nice ample rooms, full services. Well positioned and easily reachable, just outside the beautiful medieval town of Perugia. Very affordable rates. What else?
Good sized, clean rooms with the usual amenities you'd expect to find in them. The hotel also has a good sized pool and plenty of sun beds around it. The bar was decent, although a slightly broader range of drinks and snacks would have been nice. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent - a great range of food to suit pretty much every taste. Staff were all very friendly. Would happily stay here again.
This hotel is not in the center of Perugia and you will need a car to get to and from the city. The hotel is perfect if you have a car and you intend (like we did) on making short day trips to surrounding towns and villages like Montalcino, Montepulciano, Cortona, or Assissi. The pool was great and the restaurant next door was expensive but the service and food were both ideal.
+ location close to motorway (ideal to visit Umbria) + excellent breakfast according to Italian standards + very pleasant seating in breakfast area (view on the pool) + very good WIFI (multiple signal extenders) + shopping center at 1 km - swim cap mandatory in the pool (although no strict control) - location close to motorway (sometimes some noise from the traffic) - no fridge (small minibar but filled with hotel stuff) My advice is to book a room in the new building : spacious, modern, walk in shower and with private terrace or patio. It is worth the difference compared to the older rooms without balcony.
Although I tend to go along with favourable previous reviews - good sized, clean rooms, reasonable breakfast, good sized pool, etc., we found the place to be simply functional, rather than welcoming. The bar area, in particular, is a windowless room with a scattering of plastic furniture for the most part and not somewhere to enjoy the end of the afternoon or day. Biggest disappointment is location which we had understood to be nearer the town centre. That is, one has to take transport to go into Perugia when I thought we would be nearer given the price paid. As first mentioned, the basics are very good but don't think we would return when next visiting Perugia.
The Relais is located 10 minutes from the historic centre of Perugia. We paid $140 CAD per night for our room in June which was very reasonable. It is a two story, modern hotel with lovey decor and a relaxed vibe. The rooms are charming. Very well maintained and clean. Very friendly staff who were able to speak English and Spanish to us (we speak both) and are happy to answer questions. Lovely indoor bar and an outdoor courtyard for aperitifs. A large outdoor pool you can swim laps in, with a grassy area and some shade as well as sun. A small TV lounge to hang out in. A large sunny breakfast room with a fantastic breakfast - eggs, breads and a toaster, pastries, cheese, meats, chocolate, a large variety of fresh fruit, yogurt, espresso, juice etc. Free parking and wifi. And best of all the restaurant next door Osteria dell'Olmo. really gorgeous restaurant in a country house, with a lovely outdoor patio in the garden. Good food especially the salads and good service in a lovely setting.
Five kilometers from the historic center of Perugia is a rustic country hotel, providing a pleasant atmosphere of warmth and love for the staff, close to a commercial area with shops and restaurants, but outside Perugia. The rooms are built on the ground floor along two corridors that lead to the large dining room, the flowering yard and the swimming pool in the middle, the hotel has a spa, an excellent restaurant, a winery. In the lobby there is a small bar for excellent coffee and wine, the rooms are different, spacious and pleasant, The dining room for breakfast is spacious and bright and faces the garden and the breakfast is varied, for dinner (Osteria dell'Olmo) From the building to the courtyard leading to an ancient building with arches and inviting dinner, parking in the lot next to the hotel The hotel has a conference room for conventions, group meetings and lectures, a spa center with various possibilities, a massage with hot stones, Half
We recently visited Relais Dell'Olmo in Perugia as me and my fiancée are looking to get married in Umbria. All I will say is we had the most amazing stay! Everything was perfect including the staff and the rooms. There was 5 of us in our party and we all really enjoyed our stay. Marco and his team were very attentive and every request we had was met. The breakfast we had was fantastic as well and way more than we could of asked for, even getting a cappuccino on arrival from the waiter. We even asked Marco for his recommendations on restaurants inside the heart of Perugia and he was spot on! I would really recommend this place to anyone and if your staying for a while you won't be disappointed. Thanks again Marco see you very soon. Joe
It's a bit hard to find at the beginning, the navigator had problems with the exact location. In fact where it is placed is not that picturesque and without anything to do or see within easy walking distance. However, once you are there you realize how easy it is and how conveniently placed for visiting the rest of Umbria. It's really close to Perugia, about 5 kms. The rooms are well furnished and the beds are really comfy. You get a small kettle and tea and coffee, which you don't always find in Italy. The breakfast was really good with lots of different choices. All the staff were really helpful and always available with smiles on their faces. They really make you feel welcome. We booked a spa treatment and massage which was perfect. The restaurant next door was ok but there are far better places to choose from.
