The room was just amazing and the view from the bedroom and balcony was spectacular. We ate in the fine dining restaurant which had great service and amazing food down to the smallest detail. Once of the best travel experiences we have had. A must do destination.
We came four our 1 year wedding anniversary. We had a great stay very relaxing. The accomdation is top notch and the location and scenery was fantastic. They gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne which was really lovely. My husband and I had a fantastic weekend. Will definately be staying again.
Clean, comfortable modern room with with lovely outlook. Very relaxing, private and quiet. Staff friendly and helpful. Great central location for Valley. Food and wines great. Thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay.
The quality of the accomodation is good- clean, spacious and quiet. The staff are very helpful and courteous. I would suggest provision of some maps with suggested walks/bike rides. The quality of the food provided at the conference was also high.
Had a weekend with a friend staying in a executive suite and honestly I could not recommend more highly. 30 minutes from home and it felt like we were in the country. Great relaxing view from our suite, sitting on the balcony enjoying the moment.
Very disappointed with our stay for the Wagin Duck dinner & overnight stay package. Portions were very small - 1 slice of the end of a duck breast for main course! - and service very slow but professional. Left dinner after 3 hours hungry. Accommodation clean, modern but simple not luxurious. Mandoon failed to reply to my direct e-mail about the event so disappointed by their customer service. Would recommend their cellar door though.
Beautiful estate just outside of Perth, perfect for a weekend getaway. The accommodation was of a very high standard, and would absolutely recommend booking a room with a balcony. The wine was also exceptional, and I plan on returning in the future.
The actual estate is absolutely beautiful for a wedding and we couldn’t have asked for better weather! As for the accommodation, the bed was amazing! A few of us stayed overnight after a wedding and we all thought the beds were amazing. Normally I don’t sleep well in other places, but no problems at The Colony! Of course the accommodation was clean and modern as the pictures show, but it was the little details that make it special: cookies on the bed, welcome note and good tea/coffee. We all met for breakfast the next morning, which was lovely and overall a very enjoyable stay.
We stayed two nights for a romantic, relaxed, weekend away without the usual chaos of raising 5 kids. Being in the swan valley it’s surrounded by great places to drink wine and eat gourmet food. So there is a lot to see and do outside of Mandoon itself. We don’t actually live far from this place but decided a weekend away from home would be a nice change. The check in process was lovely. Complimentary sparkling while we took care of check in admin. Great start. The man who checked us in was courteous, professional and generally lovely. We went straight to offload our bags at our executive suite (note these are upstairs with no lift so be ready to carry your luggage up two flights - no biggie). On entering, we were delighted at how clean and orderly the suite was presented. Simple, yet refined. Well thought out space for what is small in size. Balcony overlooking the swan was nice too. Bathroom well equipped. Beautiful bathroom products also. One thing I really noticed was how lovely the entire suite smelled. Whatever fragrance they use when cleaning is divine. Bedding was pristine and comfortable and the whole space was generally really nice. The TV was simple to operate and the in-house movie selection was fantastic. We then went straight back to Mandoon’s Homestead Brewery for a bottle of wine. It’s a three minute casual walk on one long path between the Colony and the Restaurants. We arrived at 5:05pm so weren’t able to enjoy any wine tastings unfortunately as the cellar door shuts shop at 5pm. Never mind. We bought a bottle of wine from the Brewery and sat outside to catch the end of the sun for the day. It was lovely. The grounds are fantastic. It’s busy, with a lot of kids around, but that was fine as there are plenty of places to find a quiet spot if needed. Unfortunately the service from the staff in the Homestead Brewery was considered rude and lacking. Also the staff in the cellar door were quite unhelpful and abrupt when we had a few queries. We thought maybe the establishment had had a really long day, as most staff we spoke to were clearly over being there. We picked up some lovely cheeses and anti pasto style meats from our travels over the course of the day to enjoy on our balcony that evening with our wine, however, on returning to our suite, not a single item of cutlery, plate or even a bottle opener, was available within the room. Be prepared, that if you want to open and enjoy any item or food or drink within your accommodation, you will struggle! Not even a pair of scissors. It was slightly frustrating. Also, the in room bar fridge is minuscule, so don’t expect to keep anything you’ve collected throughout your swan valley tours to be able to keep fresh or cool in your fridge. It won’t fit. It holds the few items that come as part of the Colony mini bar items for sale. We decided to take these out and leave on the counter so we could try to save the expensive cheeses and meats we’d purchased and could not open to eat. We brought them home with us two days later. There are complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolates and a couple of bottles of complimentary water provided. With two tea cups, two tea spoons, and two wine glasses and flutes you can use. That is the extent of the in room facilities for dining. This is clearly aimed at ensuring guests come to the restaurants on site to purchase what they need. I get it. It’s business after all. There is also an in room dining service available up until 8:30pm. Limited items but if you’re hungry, food is available to purchased and be delivered if needed. Mini bar snacks are also available, such as Pringle’s, a chocolate bar, some nuts and a couple of small bottles of liquor. We were disappointed that there wasn’t at least one sharp cheese knife, a cheese board and a bottle opener. Those three items would make a big difference in these rooms for guests who pick up gourmet delights on swan valley tours. Breakfast at the Homestead Brewery the following morning was nice. I imagined the serving size would be larger to be larger but the meal was great regardless and they do cater to those who prefer a gluten free meal. Service unfortunately was again lacking. No one seems to be happy working here. We were happy to be there though and that’s all that really matters, I suppose. On our second night, we didn’t order from the room service menu and the food was amazing. Definitely recommend the pizzas. They are everything a pizza should be. And it was delivered promptly and still nice and hot. Perfect. We also had housekeeping attend on Sunday which was great. It stated no housekeeping on a Sunday however our room was sorted while we were out enjoying our day so that was a pleasant surprise. Thank you! The Linton and Kay gallery is worth a visit, even if you aren’t in to art as such. The building they use is worth checking out. Stunning little cottage on the swan river. Beautiful. Mandoon wines are delicious. They are always delicious. I’ve been buying their wine for years and it never fails to impress. The new Apple cider is also terrific. Potent and yummy. Just as a cider should be. Would I recommend Mandoon and The Colony? Yep! Be prepared to spend on food and wine, and if you want to enjoy any of your own pre purchased drinks or nibbles, being an esky and a plate/knife/bottle opener at bare minimum. I’ll definitely stay again sometime with this in mind. Our visit would have been more enjoyable had we thought ahead and packed these items just in case. We know now though, and will likely carry a spare set of this in the car for the just in case moments wherever we stay :)
I booked an executive suite for 2 nights for our wedding, the rooms were beautifully laid out, clean and comfortable. Heating was super warm, beds and pillows were comfy. The rooms are also pretty close to the brewery just a short walk even tho they do cater for room service
