This place is off its head. You have to see it to believe it. I simply cannot put a line through the design, the inspiration, the vibe. It’s Italian Renaissance meets Howard Jones, meets Goodfellas. A total hoot. The staff are cool, the rooms are clean...BUT! If you can, ask for room 1. It’s simply insane. Better than watching a Tim Burton movie whilst at a 90’s dance party. Totally mad.
Stayed there last night first impression was nice reception and bar staff were good , don't bother with the restaurant, service was appalling back packet staff had no idea what was going on . Forgot our order got the drinks wrong . Won't go back
We were meeting with a group of more than a dozen friends for lunch and it was our first time here. The first impression was mixed as the entrance was offset from the carpark. Then you enter with lots of glass, marble flooring and columns. Wow very glitzy. We arrived early and went onto the verandah of the Riverdeck and admired the view first, before asking where our group would be seated. There was a vague "over there by the windows" and I had to clarify inside or out as there was no reserved sign. We decided to sit on a small couch that large chunks of vinyl was missing and waited for our coffee to be delivered. As the group arrived we realised we needed to move a table and two chairs to join in the group table. We had all pre-ordered our meals weeks before and I was surprised at the manner in which these were delivered. One of our steak orders arrived after most had eaten half of their meals. The Thai beef salad was tasty but the meat was tepid to the point I didn't know if it should have been warm or cold. Another lady ordered the same but her portion was even smaller than mine to the point she needed to order some meat balls and chips to follow. There was no water on the table nor was it offered at any point during the meal. On visiting the ladies room it looked very smart and plenty of stalls but the one I chose (first after the disabled) had the plate and buttons missing so you had to be acurate in pressing the correct piece of plastic to flush the toilet. I only saw one bin for the paper towels and would imagine this would start overflowing on a busy night. So our lasting impression on leaving - it's a Hasbeen. Has been lovely in it's day but needs some TLC as well as more organisation by the staff.
Overnight stay as it was close to airport. Tucked out of the way and when you arrive in the dark I was a little nervous! Great little surprise with a spacious room and all mod cons; even a wine fridge. Great bed and nice and quiet location. Pleasant walk in morning along river; great place to stay if you are looking for close to airport
Visited here yesterday for a work lunch... There was about 12 of us. On arrival, first impressions the hotel, restaurant & bar look luxury. When we was seated, this is when we all started to see the little faults that make a dining experience an experience. The floors were dirty 😏 there was a big puddle of water that was coming from the ceiling. There was no wet floor sign... We had to report this as the floors are marble ( quiet shiney & slippery). The waitress cleaned this up and put a wet floor sign (thank you). We ordered drinks, the waitress appeared really flustered... The drinks arrived, the wine glasses were dirty 😏 & the way she served them.. she held the glasses from the top. Not only that, one of the glasses the red wine had spilled over the bottom of the glass, we had to get some napkins to clean the glass as it would have gone over my work colleagues jumper. Food, we all orders a combination of foods... Such as Thai beef salad, chicken parmigiana, steak n chips, pasta & fish & chips. All the meals came out at the same time. The Thai beef salad had wayyyy too much chili in it. There was no love in this meal, it was poorly made & lacked everything a Thai salad would be. The steaks, I ordered medium well, and another colleague ordered medium.. they were both well done. I asked for peppercorn sauce, I received red wine jus 😏 the serves were small although for $15.00 I would say fair. We asked for more water, no water arrived 😏. We ordered coffees & deserts... The deserts came out quiet fast, although the coffees were some time after, a few coffees arrived and then we had to chase up the rest. The table service was very poor, they appeared flustered & unable to provide good customer service that you would expect from a hotel. The toilets were very clean, the dining area felt cold & lacked atmosphere.
We were given room 17 and like a previous review it still has 3 lights out, few strange stains on the lounge maybe blood 😂 a large area of water damage to the wall behind the en-suite. Rooms are spacious but very dusty and dim, advertised as river view but that’s a bit of a stretch. Balcony is shared by every room in the wing and you have to go out of the main building and into another foyer to the hallway that leads to the rooms. Don’t bother going for breakfast the foods terrible dinner didn’t look real flash either. If it’s raining avoid the outside stairs as i fell down them because they are so slippery when your shoes are wet. Impossible to get service at the bar wasn’t enough staff beer prices are pretty good though $8 pints. says it has a gym but there are no weights and just a couple of old worn out cardio machines. Pool resembles a duck pond more than something you would swim in. If I ever plan on selling my home I’ll definitely try and use the same photographer they did they did a great job at making it look good 😂 For the price you pay you can’t really complain to much so if you arrive here not expecting much you won’t be overly disappointed would recommend if you just need a cheap over night stay and that’s about it.
We recently spent 4 nights here as we had a family function in Perth. Our room was quite old and in need of a makeover. It was clean, the bed very comfortable, lovely linen and a big plus that it was very quiet. During our stay - on 2 mornings little longlife milks not replaced so no coffee that morning. Also on 2 mornings realised no bath mat on one day and no hand towel on the other. The bathroom door handle came off when you opened the door. There was a blind within the glass sliding doors which we assume was opened via an electronic switch on the wall. This did not work so we were unable to open the blind during our trip. As we were out all day every day it didnt bother us. We had a wine each night. On the last night we went to pour a wine and realised the glasses were still dirty from the night prior. Also on the last night we decided to watch some TV. It would not work, they sent someone from the kitchen to look at it who put new batteries in the remote and got it going. After leaving the signals went again. Breakfast. Yes its cheap @ $15 per head. Basic white and brown bread, orange "drink" with plastic cups. Plastic cups! In this day and age, shocking for the environment. Coffee was instant powdered. Fruit was tinned fruit salad! No yoghurt, no muesli, just rice bubbles, cocopops and cornflakes. So if you are thinking of a healthy light breakfast it wont be happening. We slept well and it served a purpose for what we required and we got a good price. With a makeover and some more attention to the little things this could be a great hotel. Also on exiting the lift each morning we were greeted with cigarette butts on the ground. Lots of little things to be improved upon.
Disappointed in the Friday evening buffet I expected a bit more choice and quality Apart from that the cost was advertised on the radio 94.5 yesterday 14 th June at $19.95 and when I got there it was $25.00 and floor manager advised that this has been this price for winter and that price was for summer buffet only I am going contact 94.50
Had been looking forward to a beautiful night for our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Booked a River view room. No river view at all. Asked for another room one where we could see the river as promised. Told they were fully booked. Explained that it was a special occasion when booking. Very very disappointed. You don’t have a 50th more than once in your life. To make matters worse, went to the Riverdeck Restaurant at the hotel for a smorgasbord dinner. I’ve never been so disgusted with food offered. Everything tasted the same or no taste. Don’t know who caters for them but they really should change them. Couldn’t get through anything I tried and left really upset. This was supposed to be a special night but instead it’s been ruined. I don’t think I’ve ever been so dissatisfied or disappointed with any place I’ve been. 😤😢
We were given room 17. The best thing about it was the view of the river. Although room was spacious, the furniture was a bit out dated and we had 2 light globes that weren't working, one in the bathroom. We rang and asked if it could be fixed. We waited and waited still no one came so I rang again then a maintenance man came to be told they can't be fixed, will need an electrician. !!! Why can't these things be noticed when the room is vacated. Simple to check that everything works. So she said we will move you to room 20. It was an extra huge room (so silly really that it was soooo big. Had a lounge area and the tv was far away from the bed to watch the tv. The bathroom was huge and modern but the lighting??? it was dark in the shower because of the surround of the walls. 3 lights in the bathroom, but you shower in the dark. We moved to this room because of the broken lights...well guess what, 1 bedside light not working. I gave up. We had the buffet dinner for $25 head. Well I guess you get what you pay for. I bought 2 glasses of wine and asked for 2 glasses of water. She said there is an urn over there....with plastic cups to drink from. Napkins were in a container and looked like toilet paper to me. Food was average, some not that hot. Dessert was attrocious. Argh...suits kids, jelly, strawberry mousse, chocolate mouse and lots of little tiny cake slices. Nothing appealing at all. Breakfast was much the same. No orange juice....just orange cordial...in plastic cups again. Surely some glasses are more cost efficient, not to mention the environment. Scrambled eggs that I couldn't describe. So overcooked and dried up. I went to cook some toast, the bread was crisp??? must have been old bread, which didn't really matter much if you were going to toast, but still the same, not fresh. I won't go again, though might be handy for an early flight.
