Came here with the wife for a couple of night getaway as a belated christmas present for the wife. Unfortunately it was not happy wife, happy life as she was quite disappointed with the accommodation. The pool was small and not heated, the club room staff were inattentive, the downstairs reception area by the function rooms smelt, and the food selection in the club room was very limited, if you have any sort of allergies you would struggle to get any food at all. The room however was large and comfortable, it was just the other amenities which were not up to scratch.
We found the rooms to be big. the Service was excellent and felt spoilt during our stay. The Club rom and the amenities on offer where awesome. Whist during the canapés and breakfast there was plenty to eat they also offered biscuits and lollies during the day to have with your coffee and they also offer beer during this time. The views were spectacular even when you have a city view. The concierge were on the ball and offered excellent service.
It is what you would expect from this category of hotel. Fantastic steam room, sauna a bit on the cool side and a very well equipped gym. Comfortable room altogether the bathroom looked a little bit tired. Terrific service and really accessible to town / quay etc,
We flew in from QLD and arrived & has VIP charters in Perth greet us at the airport to whisk us of if there & into the Duxton. We were greeted with a porter who didn’t hesitate to take our bags (which is rare). The gentleman who checked us in was pleasant and the hotel was quaint. Got to the room to find a pillow menu, seems a few places are doing this and I LOVE IT. I had 5 good hours sleep and will go and attach the day! Cheers Duxton!
I have visited the Duxton before, but only for dinner. This weekend a friend and I chose to stay as there were events on in the city we wanted to attend. Staying here gave us easy access to the main one, the free performance of La Boheme in Supreme Court Gardens. The front desk staff were very welcoming and check-in was easy and efficient. We were staying on the club floor. The room was generous, with two queen beds. The view was across the city instead of the river. Interesting and very pretty at night. The air conditioning was fierce and difficult to adjust. The bathroom was well appointed with a bath and a separate walk-in shower. The bathroom, however had a couple of problems. There was no exhaust fan so after showering you had to open the bathroom door to eliminate the condensation and steam. The shower door allowed water to gather outside the shower and make the floor slippery. We wanted to visit the swimming pool but there was no hotel directory in the room to explain its location. We rang the concierge who gave us directions and explained the info was to be found on the TV. There was nothing in the room to tell us this. When the TV was turned on it did not work. We reported this in the morning and the problem was rectified efficiently. We visited the club lounge. Lovely views across the river. The food was an array of canapés, both savory and sweet. Staff were efficient and drinks plentiful. There is no kitchen on this floor so the food was delivered from the ground floor. This meant there were times when popular menu items ran out and you had to wait for more to arrive. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The concierge team were especially obliging in looking after the folding chairs we had with us for the concert. It was a lovely weekend despite the minor hiccups and I would happily stay there again.
We choose the Duxton for our recent anniversary short get away for a number of reasons and we were happy on all counts. The hotels central located and it’s an easy walk to and from the CBD. We stayed in the club rooms which give you exclusive access to the club lounge on the top floor with complimentary drinks (anything) and canapés at certain times of day but cold drinks/teas and coffees all day, plus the breakfast of your choice. The breakfast was great and filled us up ready for the day. Great choice and pleasant enough dinning area. We had a spa and swim and enjoyed just relaxing in the room. The room we had was very nice, comfortable big bed, pillow menu and lovely bathroom. A lovely touch was receiving a bottle in the fridge complementary for our anniversary. Cons were the window was very small so not great views. The hotel offers valet parking at $48 per day. We had a great stay!
My wife and I stayed overnight in a club room with access to the club lounge. Every staff member we met from the concierge to the cleaners were ever so polite, helpful and made sure anything we needed was provided . We were very impressed on how good the service was! We will be staying again but for the weekend next time. Duxton you made our stay very memorable and we will be recommending you to all our friends. Be seeing you soon. Thank you
This is a business hotel in a good location with excellent views from the higher riverfront rooms. The restaurant does not have a large selection of dishes for dinner, so we eat out most evenings. The hotel seemed quiet and lacked atmosphere, better suited to business trips than tourist visitors.
Myself and my husband stayed here for our wedding night the hotel is amazing nothing was too much trouble we had an executive suite which gave us acess to the exucative lounge ...canapes and wine beer etc .Waitresses a little distant and didn't interact with us perhaps a language issue. The room was amazing with luxury toiletries the bed was large and very comfortable the only down side was the early checkout time ..would heartily recommend
We had an over night stay at the Duxton Saturday night and found our stay to be very disappointing The pool and pool area is nice which is where the 2nd star came from. The rooms were ok at best, the bathroom is dated and in need of a renovation. Stay away from the cocktails! we ordered a strawberry daq and a margarita at $20 each. We certainly don't mind paying this for cocktails that taste fresh and as they should, however, they both lacked flavor and hardly tasted as though they had any alcohol in them at all. The breakfast was average, my wife was told that she had to wait 8 mins for more sausages and eggs to return to the buffet as they had run out. Not sure why they weren't monitoring the buffet and replenishing as necessary, $35 per head! Defiantly go elsewhere for breakfast, We often have nights in various hotels around the city and unfortunately found the Duxton to be well below the standard.
