My wife and I chose this hotel for the location. After a month traveling around Australia and staying at places ranging from the Shangri La on Sydney Harbour to basic motels in the outback we were looking for a good nights sleep and a good breakfast before flying back to the UK. We found both at the Crowne Plaza. Excellently located with beautiful views over the well manicured park to the Swan River, and about 15 mins walk to the ferries and busy city centre. The sunset views are amazing. The room was clean, well equipped and of good size, as was the bathroom. We enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant. The building itself is certainly not five star, being somewhat dated and in need of some refurbishment, but it is more than adequate and offers excellent value for money. The amazing staff are certainly worthy of special mention. I would certainly recommend this hotel to others.
My expectations were obviously too high based on what I thought the Crowne Plaza chain is all about. The building and decor were very outdated although generally quite clean. Desperately in need of a refresh. Unlikely I would return.
The hotel is on the side of the river across a great grasses area. The views from the rooms at the front with balconies of the Swan river is beautiful. There is a pool which also overlooks the river and is on the third floor above the restaurant. There is also a small gym. The rooms are ok although I would have preferred more storage space for unpacking I.e. our room did not have any drawers only a wardrobe. My criticism is of the bathroom which is need of some TLC. There was a shower over the bath which was quite difficult to step into if you are older ( as we are ) or infirm and areas around it were were worn and rusted. There is a restaurant which does breakfast then opens again at 5 pm for evening meals. There is also a small bar off reception. WiFi is free as is the guest laundry which is a plus. There is a shopping area quite a walk from the hotel but there are lots of buses which go there ( and around the city ) and they are free. The WAKA is in walking distance ( although the main stadium has now been moved to a new stadium called the Optus or Perth stadium )
This is the second time we have stayed here for the sky show. The staff were so friendly and organised even though they were unbelievably busy. They managed to cater breakfast for above average numbers extremely well. It must be a good place to work too as you don’t have such a friendly competent staff without looking after them. Thanks!
Don't overlook this little gem! Really good location with quick access in the city via free buses and easy walk to the shops. Staff is very friendly and rooms are comfortable. Rates were very good for our stay and much more tolerable than other hotels in the area. Great visit!
The rooms aren’t big Aircon doesn’t hear or cool properly Most rooms you can’t open a window; costs more if you do .. It’s 2 dollars for a cup of fresh milk for coffee or cereal And the food is really awful quality
We stayed here for 11 nights while visiting my daughter and her boyfriend.. It's central enough to visit the CBD, and the WACA, and a short stroll along the swan river promenade to the Elizabeth Quay, yet quiet enough for a relaxing break.. Service from the staff is first class, even though to my mind they seemed a little stretched at times! Not exactly spoilt for choice in the bar, (you can have any draught beer you want as long as it's peroni), and to be honest it's more of a lobby with a small bar in it.. We had a lovely room, overlooking the river and park, and the cleaners were fast and efficient.. We will stay again, next time we're down under visiting my daughter..
We have stayed at the Crowne Plaza 4 times. We love the rooms overlooking the beautiful Swan river with your own balcony. The rooms are always clean, fresh and inviting.Staff are always pleasant and helpful.Easy walk into the city for some shopping.
I was a bit disappointed when I arrived at the Crown Plaza - it looks a little dated. The location is great, and I had a balcony room which was lovely to look out over the Swan River. However, the foyer bar is very lacking in any style, and there are low ceilings here and there which I found very oppressive. On the positive side, the service was great. The restaurant was very reasonably priced and I enjoyed my meals. One evening I was a little cold, and the waitress kindly went and got me a blanket so I wouldn't have to walk to my room for a wrap. At all times, I was well cared for by the staff who are to be commended.
Some months ago we booked and paid for a stay at the Hotel, Unfortunately my wife fell ill and we had to cancel, loosing our deposit, however the hotel agreed to hold the deposit towards a future stay, which they did for 7 months, my wife has not recovered to the stage we can go, so 2 days before Christmas the hotel management refunded our deposit in full. What a beautiful gesture, thank you so much
