When check in the reception ask us to pay cash they couldn’t debit with my MasterCard ! The room was not maintained, aircon leaking , roof bathroom with a plastic bag to avoid leaking , tv not clear , balcony full of cigarett.the worst thing they were renovated the 22 floor noise and full of dust. The breakfast buffet not fresh idem for the restaurant We have to cancel and to move to an other hotel Don’t book this hotel you will have a nightmare
My wife and I stayed here for three nights, food is crap and service is terrible. We wouldn't rate this above 2 Star! Trip Advisor rates this 4 Star, the hotel exhibits 3 stars, but It just isn't. Service is ridiculously slow, 55 minutes for a plate of fish fingers and french fries!
Hotel room is clean and well maintained. Parking was worst. They don't provide enough parking and we're advised to park beside an international school which the gate will be closed at 7pm. The reception was not friendly.
Not a bad hotel for the price, but be aware that you get what you pay for. Overall, a pleasant trip. Food was ok, and rooms were mostly quiet (except for Friday night). Staff is pleasant and responds quickly to problems.
Before booking this hotel, I went through some comments which are a bit harsh about the hotel. Well, since this was not a first time I tended to be in Tanjung Bungah, I am already aware that the luxury hotel is more to Batu Ferringhi area of the island, so I don't expect anything better than what I got at the first time in Tanjung Bungah (I was staying in Rainbow Paradise Beach Resort neighborhood that time). So let's start this review with my booking of airport transfer. One of the reason I decided to book this hotel is because I travelled with my mother, so I wouldn't want to bother her taking a public bus to hotel. I exchanged some email with the hotel prior to my arrival to organise the airport transfer for arrival and departure. During the arrival, we spent 30 minutes to detect if there was anyone holding a placard with my name and led to zero result. Not wanting wasting more time at the airport, we took a taxi to hotel. When checking in, I address this issue to the reception, he was sorry about that and at last he got an information that the driver picked us up at the domestic arrival instead of international, well human makes mistake. About the room, the first time we entered the room, my mother was already moving forward and impressed with the sea view balcony, me I was happy with my large room and bed. It is clean, tidy, large, better than what I saw on the photos. The beach area also allowed us to relax with the provided beach chair and umbrella. I was not so happy with the limited space of swimming pool but who cares about swimming pool if you can swim on the calm beach. Overall stay in this hotel was satisfactory.
Pros: spacious room and bathroom with bath tub, balcony, parking, friendly staff, nice breakfast, 10-15mins drive to reach batu feringghi, 20-30mins drive to reach town area, extra point for room service food- it is really delicious Cons: lift problem, aircon in room not working probably, no swimsuit no pool entry, no tooth brush and toothpaste provided so remember to prepare yourself
Please be aware that none of the three beachside hotels in Tanjung Bungah could by any fling of the imagination be called ‘luxury’. They are what might be politely referred to as ‘affordable’, whatever way they might describe themselves in their blurb. If you’re looking for pampering and luxury then you have to head towards Batu Ferringhi, another 8km up the coast which could be describes as the main resort area of Penang.
We thought we had booked directly with the hotel but apparently we had booked with an agent who sub lets some rooms under the name of Rainbow Paradise H beach suites. Our check in was very confusing as you do not check in at reception but have to ring Mr Jenson and he tells you which floor to go to and someone meets you up there and gives you access to your rooms. There is no information at all in the rooms regarding what is available. So.. positives, 1. Great location on the beach and near Georgetown. Nice hotel lobby, very large room with a large bath and shower, great balcony with wonderful views across the straits. 2. Rooms are very quiet and the beds very comfy. 3. Lots of storage space and well equipped with iron, ironing board, kettle, hairdryer. Negatives. 1. As you are booked through a sublet you have no access to hotel facilities other than the beach and pool. No phone in room, no room service, and you are not allowed to use the beach towels. 2. The hotel is in need of a complete refurbishment. All a bit shabby and tatty, the hallways are dingy with really worn carpets. 3. No safe deposit box in room. 4. Very few electrical points in the room. 5. There is a shortage of beach furniture so if you want a lounger you have to get there very early before they all are claimed with towels. 6. Our housekeeping was practically non existent. We were there 9 nights and the sheets never changed. We had room towels daily, coffee replaced and some water, but that was it. 7. No toilet paper is supplied.
The hotel represents excellent value for a beach resort in on Penang. The local beach is uncrowded, clean and has some watersports available without the constant noise of jet-skis. Rooms are large and comfortable with TV and wifi access; suites have a lounge with seating and small kitchenette. We were not cooking but I understand some utensils can be hired from hotel. Sea view from balcony in both bedroom and lounge. The breakfasts are good with local and international choices. The hotel is a tower, higher floors have best views, building of an extension to the adjacent school could be a problem to rooms on lower flooors on one side but did not disturb us. The pool is good but the sunloungers are getting dated they and umbrellas need replacing . Many restaurants and cafes are within walking distance and busses to both Georgetown and Batu stop outside the hotel. A free shuttle is provided daily to both.
Stayed in this hotel 20 years ago so was interested in seeing if it lived up to its former glory. I had mixed feelings on my return visit. A lot of its good points still exist regarding location, amenities, staff service, but I had some negative reaction which I must highlight. There was one lift out of order for the duration of our visit and it being very busy because of Chinese New Year there were significant delays waiting for a lift. The sun loungers and parasols were being booked from early morning by patrons placing towels out to reserve places. I even saw the staff laying out towels for preferred guests for a fee. I believe if this service is available it should be up front as an optional Hotel charge. The décor is gone a bit tired and a paint job would enhance the rooms. The resturaunt offered a limited variety of food and the breakfast was totally Asian oriented. The Pool area bar could do with a complete makeover as it is totally unattractive.
