Mercure Versailles Chateau3.0 out of 5.0

The Mercure exceeded my expectations. Not only was it well located but also a pleasant stay. Clean, comfortable and spacious rooms plus friendly and welcoming staff. As per a previous review we did only receive one bottle of water (for two people) during our three night stay at the hotel but a gentleman at reception was more than happy to supply more. I'd highly recommend the Mercure for anyone visiting Versailles.
I don't object, at all, to a budget hotel, but this one was strange. If a hotel wants to save by not giving extras that's OK by me. It is odd, however, to be presented with a shrink wrapped biscuit and a small bottle of apple juice by the receptionist before being sent up to the room. Only one biscuit and one bottle although we are two people. The room itself only offered one small bottle of Evian. The environment won't thank Mercure either for its shrink wrapped plastic and paper cups, or for its habit of replacing all the towels everyday even though we assiduously hung up those which did not need washing. I think the environment would benefit too from a little less scent in the entrance foyer.
Lovely hotel. Helpful staff who gave us a map on arrival. Great location for walking into Versailles. The parking situation is difficult. There were no spaces to park in the hotel. Luckily in August Versailles offers free parking in a range of areas in the city. We managed to park a 10/15 minute walk away from the hotel but had to wheel everything from our car over. That being said, the location is quite central and it's probably not possible for them to acquire any more parking spaces. The hotel doesn't have extensive facilities and rooms are small, but it definitely serves its purpose (who stays in their hotel when in Versailles?) and is safe and clean!
We chose this hotel based upon good reviews and were not disappointed . Very friendly ,helpful and polite reception staff. Breakfast was very good well presented and laid out. Our room was a bit small and being on the 4th floor the bathroom was compromised by a room beam, however the bed was extremely comfortable- ideal for a short stay. Parked in the garage which was useful as streets nearby are hard to find spaces
Excellent stay. The staff were very polite friendly and helpful. We would stay again and may well do so next year. The location near the Chateau was good as was access to public transport. Good restaurants in the area as well.
From the moment we went to our rooms and discovered that each one was equipped with a Phillipe Starck Ghost Chair I knew that we were in a classy hotel. Facilities great. Location splendid. Multilingual staff very helpful and efficient. Breakfast delicious. A lovely experience all round!
I.AM.NEVER.EVER.STAYING.HERE.EVER.AGAIN. We booked this hotel last minute here on trip advisor,The website stated we were to pay 117 Euros for a double room per night ( We chose to pay at the establishment itself -> done that before with other hotels, even one of their paris establishments, no problems). However at the end of our stay, we ended up paying more. I emailed customer service, and lo and behold, one night was 119 Euros, and the next night 139 Euros. Seriously you guys? SERIOUSLY???? If you book online with this hotel,TAKE NOTE OF THE INCREASE IN PRICE WITHOUT WARNING; Parking at the hotel was also full. But Service was ok, Breakfast was good ( very delicious eggs).Perfect location ( walking distance to everything touristy) They also say that their staff is multilingual. Big lie. The ones I interacted with during our stay only spoke french, seasoned with a word of English here and there. Overal, average hotel to stay at, not worth the price though.
We booked this because it is fairly close to the Chateau, and Mercure hotels are usually good value for money. Unfortunately, this one was a disappointment. When we arrived neither of the receptionists had good English.and we had great difficulty with the car-parking arrangements for which we had paid in advance,The room was minute and, even worse, it was impossible to sit on the loo with the door closed. Poor value for money
Stayed in this hotel for the weekend It is in a great location and perfect for a weekend away to visit Versailles. The room was comfortable with a good bed and shower The hotel was clean and breakfast was decent . The hotel receptionist really helped out recommending great places to eat and visit for our day trip in Versailles . Reasonably priced and all you need for a stay in Versailles Also right outside are some lovely restaurants for dinner 👍
Nice hotel , pleasant staff, great location as the the palace is only minutes away The rooms were comfy , well equiped and clean with most mod cons including kettle and makings .. There is parking on site which is payable though not unreasonable for the area, but it is limited and tight. Staff were knowledgeable and provided details of locations to eat though there are restaurants very near by. Wi Fi was good and breakfast covered continental and other tatses
