the staff here makes the difference.. the facade of the hotel is not nice but at the reception, isabel was very helpful and friendly and that makes that stay really nice. the room (privilege) is quite big and the space is enough for a night, a little bit noisy due to some public works The view is not very nice, but the quality of bed is good and all mercure cosmetics available Location : very close to the train station "gare de lyon" and hospital a very good restaurant nearby : le berbere the wifi is fonctionning properly, it is a good hotel to stay for business purpose.
I loved how great the staff are at the hotel. Isabella was warm and welcoming and remembered us by name! The breakfast room lady is just the sweetest. I really enjoyed interacting with them. The not so great part: - it's a snug space. So having some shelves for side tables might be great. There weren't enough coat hooks either. This being winter, we had our coats, towels, night clothes etc to hang up so more coat hooks would have been great. -the layout isn't exactly functional but I think that's hard to change. - the cleanliness needs to be improved on. I felt that the WC smelt constantly of urine. It wasn't that the housekeeper did a poor job but I think that's already in the wall. The gel portion of the shower/bath window also had dirt collected. Rather unsightly and it makes you think about hygiene a lot. -perhaps having some umbrellas for loan might be good for the rainy season. Would I recommend it? Yes! I think if they did a proper scrubbing it would be great. But already the service is quite good so yes, I would come here again too.
Dont be fooled by the lame facade and outside appearance of this hotel, when you get in you will be treated to a typical mercure boutique - but spartan chic - feel and hospitality. However the price we paid for this was clearly not justified by what the property offers! Recommend you avoid this unless you cannot afford anything else , but prefer to stay only in Bastille area LOCATION: The highlight of this property is the location. Very close to the Gare de Lyon as well as the Bastille main drag and close to a lot of Bars/Restaurants/Shops DINE + DRINK: Absolutely plastic and super random lobby ‘bar’ ROOM: I stayed in 206, so this review is based on that; VIEW: What??? ; SIZE: The room was so tiny, you might end up stepping on each other’s toes!; AIR-CON: SUper hot sauna of a room with a useless aircon, that i had to leave the Window open all night long to be disturbed by the noisy garbage truck early in the morning!; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower; TOILETRIES: good Mercure cosmetics FACILITIES:No Gym, No pool or not even a simple recreational setup! SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all my basic needs but nothing more to offer. HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in multiple languages
The staff here make this mediocre hotel that little bit nicer, they were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are tired and the bathroom had cracking paint on the walls. The location is great, just over 10 mins walk from Gare de Lyon. There are a number of nice patisseries nearby and two Metro stations about 5 mins walk away. We stayed for several nights and the area around the hotel really grew on us by the time we came to leave. Getting to Disneyland was easy too, one stop on the Metro to Nation station and then the RER to Marne Le Vallée from there.
My husband and I stayed at this hotel in July. We found it ideal in every way. Although the room was not too big it had a lovely balcony to sit out and have a glass of wine. There is a very relaxing roof terrace as well. The area is not too touristy which was a plus for us, we loved the neighbourly vibe in the many restaurants and bars nearby. The staff were really friendly, helpful and efficient. The breakfast was lovely, a good selection and plentiful. And yes, the croissants were extra flaky! I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and hope to stay there again.
I booked this hotel based purely on cost and location - we needed to be close to Bastille and this was a great deal. On arrival it looks a bit basic, tiny lift and dark corridors but we were greeted by lovely front desk staff and shown to our room - be aware there is work going on next door so rooms closer to the lift are a little quieter (we were still awoken at 730am by the workmen but we had an early start and the noise is manageable). The rooms are small but light and well equipped (tv/safe/mini fridge). Super comfortable beds and clean, fresh linens. We had a newly refurbed bathroom with a great shower. There's shower gel/shampoo but you do need to bring your own toiletries. Proper hairdryer (hurrah!). The staff (esp Benjamin) are exceptionally helpful - we arrived early but were checked in no problem and on our last day they were happy to let us stay in our room till 2pm without issue - always a sign of a cooperative, customer focused hotel for me. Special mention also to Isabel who gave us a bottle of water each for our journey back to the Airport. Excellent location - just a short walk to two Metro stations and very close to cafe's, bars, banks and shops. Would happily stay again at this great little hotel. We really enjoyed our stay.
Hotel was of good value for the area, close to metro to get into Paris - takes roughly 20 minutes. Not really a tourist area but that was fine for us :) Rooms were of good size, bed comfortable. Breakfast wasn't amazing, ran out very quickly of the hot foods - small sausages, fatty bacon and runny scrambled eggs. The pastries were lovely though and a great selection of hot drinks. Hotel staff were lovely and very helpful (reception) cleaners however we were not fond of, we put a sign on the door to say not to enter but they came in regardless without knocking - we were changing and it was very awkward for us. Our toilet was not the best, wouldn't flush properly and would leak over the floor, very small choice of English tv which is fine but then the signal kept going - however not important for us as we went for the views not the tv ha. Great little terrace they have too, not amazing views but a lovely area to relax.
Husband and I stayed in this hotel for the weekend. The location is ideal, next to metro station Voltaire. If you like walking, Pere Lachaise, Le Marais and St Michel are a short, scenic walk away. The room are on the very small side but the bed was comfy and the shower was good. It is spotlessly clean and despite the lack of little extras, like an iron or shower caps, we will not hesitate to book another room in this hotel next time we're in Paris. Do ask for a room with a garden view, as I believe these are a lot quieter than those with street views.
I personally found everything to be cramped up especially the rooms. And the lift is also very small. The hotel is located in a busy area and is built on a corner. The breakfast was okay and the WiFi was not too bad. I'd say this hotel is nice just for an overnight stay.
As in most Paris hotels, the rooms are a bit small. We booked one with a terrace and the terrace was very large, almost bigger than the room. Be prepared that toilet, bathroom and sink may be in different parts of the room but that is also typical for France. Next door to the hotel is a large open-air vegetable market and also further down the street an indoor market for meat, cheese, poultry etc. Not open on Mondays. There are several good restaurants around the corner as well. The local bistro "Le chat bossu" is good for lunch. You can go for a walk on the former elevated railway Coluee Verte Rene-Dumont , now converted into a green path stretching through eastern Paris for kilometers. The Metro is also just a few hundred meters away.
