Great hotel. The rooms are bigger than the average European room. Very, clean boutique hotel.Nice decor. Love the fact that windows were able to open. I was able to watch people down below and view the main road at night. Plenty of restaurants, including bakeries and crepe places within walking distance of 1-3 blocks.Happy hour available everywhere from 4pm-10pm. WiFi available in the room. The elevator is tight only one person with luggage. Metro and supermarket is a short 3-5 minutes walk. Definitely would stay here again. Quick metro ride to the Effiel Tower and louvre.
I got the feeling there is a 100 hotels like this in Paris and whilst we were happy here know if you can get the same at a better location take it. Friendly staff that were helpful and a cute little breakfast was nice. Don't expect the works for breakfast but if you like Parisian breakfasts this is fine. The rooms are small but expect that. It didn't bother me at all but the shower did. Believe it or not but there is no door on the shower! All the water splashes out onto the floor. This meant you went through a lot of towels keeping it dry. Super strange as I would think it would be easily fixed. Elevator is very slow and small so you mainly used the stairs. Where were on the 4th floor so that meant a lot of walking up and down. Maybe good to book a low floor if you stay here. Location isn't interesting enough so you do walk far to get to more Parisian neighborhoods. Would I go back? Nope but not because of the hotel just location.
We have spent three nights in this hotel between June 8th and 11th. First of all: FORGET that name Marais for this hotel. If you want to reach it, please consider at least 20/25 minutes walk. The hotel has been renovated quite recently and the lobby area shows a good touch of style. We have been welcomed by a nice lady who immediately gave us the room on the 6th floor. Entering the room first surprise: even if it was clearly written that a standard room had a size of 13 m2, what it was not mentioned is that the bed is clearly too small for too persons to sleep together, unless one of them avoids moving during the entire night. Showing our disappointment at the reception, struggling we have been upgraded to a bigger room without additional costs. And second surprise: aiming to have the most absurd design ever, they have put a bathtub in the middle of the room. No shower at all! So, this is a perfect choice if you want to have your personal swimming pool in Paris. Unless you want to avoid that, like we tried to do, please consider 30 minutes at least to wash yourself. And third surprise: the first night we had troubles to sleep since the A/C was emitting weird sounds due to unknown technical problems. No apologises or reimbursements from the hotel whatsoever. Showing our concerns to the staff, what we got was only a shrug of the shoulders. And please forget a decent wi-fi connection: my grandmother's house has a better one! So, to sum up: microscopic beds, overpriced rates, indifference from the staff (apart the lady the first day), inexistent wifi connection, and shower facilities like in the 18th century. Thanks God Paris is too beautiful!!
I booked this hotel last minute as I had a one-night layover in Paris and it looked nice on the booking site... That was a mistake. Although I was the ONLY customer it took the poor receptionist 45 minutes to check me in. He can't be blamed. He was such a nice person. He was temping and had been left alone without any training whatsoever! He kept calling people on the phone for help but clearly they couldn't care less! I was given a handicapped accessible room on the ground floor in the lobby by the breakfast area... there was even a chair almost preventing my entering the room. The room was murky and basic. The bathroom became flooded after a shower and if you sat on the bowl after a shower, your feet would be dangling in water! There was no commercial gesture on their part! They claimed it was the sole room they had while the site said otherwise: explanation = overbooking. They got me once not twice!
I had a nice and convenient stay here. The room was cute, clean, petite and very accessible. Everything was small but im a small person so it worked out. We had breakfast there too. It is by the republique and oberkamph metro.
Situated at the intersection of a couple of metro and bus lines, this little hotel was perfect for our weekend in Paris. The room was small but tidy, the bed comfortable, and the staff very friendly. WiFi and air conditioning worked as expected. Within walking distance there's a number of bakeries, restaurants, and supermarkets. The area is not too touristy, but an afternoon of strolling took us past the Notre Dame, the Louvre, river Seine, and even the Sacre Coeur.
We booked this through orbitz and they gave us a bottle of wine, because they couldn't upgrade us to any better room. We thought that was a nice touch and it was pretty good wine. The area of Oberkampf I really recommend, it's not as touristy and a little hipster. The hotel receptionists were really great to us and very friendly. They let us check in around 1pm and helped us with our bags. The prestige room is very large and has a nice comfy bed. The mini bar fridge was well stocked with a variety of drinks. The decor is a little off in my opinion (not sure what direction they were going in) and some of the furniture is scuffed. The toilet being separate from the rest of the bathroom was a little strange and you could here everything happening in there. The tub was really nice for baths but it was a little difficult to take a shower with just the hand held sprayer that you couldn't hang above your head. The breakfast was contintental and had some really great quality breads and pastries, coffee, juice, cereal, yogurt. There was no hot food. The lobby/dining area is really nicely decorated. The major issue is that wifi did not work at all on the 5th floor, only in the lobby. Even with the router restarted, it does not reach that high of a floor. An investment in a better router would be much appreciated by your guests who do not have much cell phone data to use internationally. Also the room was not cleaned by staff when we returned to the hotel at 430pm. We wanted to take a nap and forego the cleaning. We thought that was a little late for them not to have finished with the rooms. Other than that the hotel is in a great spot for restaurants and seeing a little more of what real Paris is like.
The hotel is nice, the staff is helpful and polite and the rooms are small but clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast selection is decent. I have no complaints at all about the place, also the location is good if you want to enjoy Paris.
We are currently on a weekend in Paris spending our 3rd night in hotel Gabriel. The staff are very helpful and have excellent English. So close to metro stations and has great restaurants, pubs and amenities all within walking distance. We'll definitely be back! Notre Dame is only a 30 min leisurely stroll and the street rental bikes are just around the corner. We could not recommend this hotel and location enough.
Spent a week in Paris and stayed at Hotel Gabriel. It is a wonderful little boutique hotel that is not in the heart of the city so you can avoid all the other tourists and tourist traps and enjoy some of the culture of this beautiful city. Yet, as everyone else has mentioned, the hotel is situated very close to two metro stations including Republique which is a major station and connects to all other lines. We had no problem traveling to any part of the city from this hotel, very easy. The hotel itself is small but thats part of its charm. The beds are comfortable and the room comes with a fridge and TV. The room was perfectly cleaned daily and the hotel was always spotless. The only issue I had was the shower, there is no shower door. So be sure to lay a towel outside on the floor. The hotel has breakfast available daily for 10 Euro per person. There is also an "Honesty Bar" at the hotel. Simply drink or eat what you like and honestly report your consumption to the staff for billing. The hotel also has free wifi. Lastly, I have to mention the wonderful staff at this hotel. They all spoke perfect English and were very helpful with any questions we had. They provided a map and walked us through where everything we wanted to see was located. The map they provide (for free) also has a metro map. Cannot recommend this hotel enough!!
