The apartment was located just 1 block from a nice area of Casco Viejo. Unfortunately, that 1 block makes a huge difference in appearance and safety.
The apartment had great safety amenities in place with keypads, card keys and and door keys, however, we returned to the apartment several times to find the front door and first interior door to the building open and a mangey neighborhood dog laying in entrance.
The apartment looked great, though very minimally furnished. Aside from one nightstand and the bed, there's no furniture in the bedrooms. There are no tables in the living area aside from 1 small coffee table and a stand for the TV.
The bathroom showers had no shelves, shower caddy, hooks for washcloths, or anything to accommodate necessary items for your shower like shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. The only option was the floor of the shower. There was no hot water the entire stay, except for a brief time 1 day where 2 people in our party were able to take warm showers. All the rest of the showers for the stay were cold.
The refrigerator/freezer smelled like fish so badly that we didn't use it. One AC unit did not work and one AC remote did not work. WiFi was terrible. It worked sometimes in the living area, never in the bedrooms.
At night, there loud voices, screaming, and what we hoped were fireworks until 3am. Dogs barked incessantly all night, and roosters woke us up reliably very early every morning. We used earplugs and wave machines but still no rest.
