Quintocanto Hotel and Spa4.0 out of 5.0

My husband was going to be in Palermo on his birthday, so I did my research and found the quintocanto spa and arranged for a massage for him for his birthday on my credit card. A few days before the treatment, my daughter called me from Rome saying that their plans had changed and they would no longer be going to Palermo. I contacted the spa with 72 hours before the treatment explaining this and their response was “too bad”. I pointed out the 48 hour cancellation policy and they informed me that was for the hotel only. As a former spa owner, I can tell you how bad this business practice is. If their spa cannot rebook a service within 72 hours, they must not be doing much business. They kept my money, would not discuss it further. Poor business practices. Look elsewhere for spa services.
We only stayed here for one night upon landing in Sicily, before heading off to explore other places. It was our honeymoon, to which the staff knew and greated us upon check-in, which was lovely. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful, the room was clean and beautiful (with a balcony and view over the church) and breakfast had a great variety of sweet treats.. exactly what you want when staying in Sicily. Palermo wouldn't be my favourite city, but this hotel is in a great location and the restaurant recommended to us was only around the corner and fabulous. The courtyard is also a great place for pre-dinner drinks. Wonderful staff and a lovely atmosphere.
Very central location and very quirky we liked it . Had a few maintenance issues which the maintenance man thought by hitting things with his hands works , er no. I fixed the toilet in the end as we left it not working and when we returned it was no different ( I'm a plumber by trade) Spa looks ok but swimming there is a joke of a price €30 a hour each person comes with something else but you cant just swim . Not good
Very clean place! Pleasantly surprised with our big room! We got a beautiful view of the main street and the interior piazza of the hotel! Best breakfast we had in Italy! Had some trouble sleeping due to a lot of noise in or around the hotel. What seems to be a fire alarm went off several times. Their complimentary soaps in the room are amazing! I checked out the Spa and got one of the best massages I’ve ever had! I also got to enjoy the sauna and steam room. Only complaint I have is that I was charged separately for the spa access from he massage. If I purchase a massage the bath access should be included.
very nice hotel, well located, the people ata the front desk very kind and helpful. Many restaurants and stores nearby. everything is at walking distance. very good breakfast Our room was a awesome, with a nice balcony, just over a old church
Hotel is in great location so that you can walk everywhere. Rooms were nice, clean and did not disappoint. Courtyard lovely to sit and chill. Staff in restaurant and reception were helpful, cheerful and polite. As a group of 7 celebrating a birthday it was the perfect choice our only disappointment was on the day of departure. We were unable to get any of the three rooms as a late check out as the hotel was fully booked. We checked with reception in the morning and we were advised that it would be ok to use the Spa changing room for a quick freshen up and to get changed before going to the airport. When we did we were literally attacked by Francesco, don't know who he was, one minute he was hoover the stairs the next minute swearing in Italian and telling us to get out. He was rude and offensive and this put a sour taste on our whole experience. He did not want to listen that we had asked and it was not our fault. Someone should have a word with him.
Beautiful longe and courtyard just steps from great restaurants and shops. And no cars on the streets. The spa was a great experience-I had the best manicure I have ever received-from Nathalie. I would stay here again when I visit Palermo.
Quintocanto This is a perfectly acceptable hotel, although not one that is particularly great. The best part is the location. One can walk to many areas and sites of interest around Palermo from the hotel in less than 15 minutes. Other than the location, this hotel can best be described as a “mixed bag.” Upon walking into the lobby, one knows right away that in spite of the hotel’s alleged four-star rating, it is not. The lobby is long, narrow, and austere to the point that it could be described as squalid. The trip from the lobby to the part of the hotel where one finds the rooms is like navigating a maze. It requires one to go outside, take an elevator up a floors, navigate through narrow, uneven hallways to reach another elevator (that cannot be accessed without using some steps), and then taking the elevator to higher floors. The alternative is to climb many steps, some of which are not well maintained. I had a standard room while traveling on business. I would have upgraded to something more spacious, but they were sold out. The room was very small and downright sparse. Had I seen the room without prior knowledge of the hotel, I would have assumed it was part of a two-star hotel. There wasn’t enough room for me to have one suitcase on the luggage rack and still be able to navigate around it and the bed. The television looked like a small, first-generation flat-screen computer monitor from the 1990s. The air-conditioning worked well, although it was quite noisy. Indeed, it kept the room quite cool. The bed was so hard as to be most uncomfortable, and it lacked quality linens and blankets. There was no desk in the room, only a small table just large enough for a laptop computer. The bathroom was so small that there was no space to place toiletries. And there were no fine bath products one would expect to find in a four-star hotel that identifies as spa. The breakfast buffet is fine, but not great, on account of an extremely limited selection. There aren’t enough tables at peak times and they run out of food pretty early. They are also bit understaffed, leading to long waits for refills on coffee. Were I to return to Palermo in the future, I would seek different accommodations.
Location of the hotel is just perfect. The center of the old city, one can walk everywhere. Since there is no parking in the street, valet parking is available for 15 Euros/day. I highly recommend this hotel. Everything it offers is in a great style.
My husband and I stayed three nights at the hotel. It was clean, comfortable, quiet, and well located, right in the center of the old town, an easy walk from the Duomo and the Castle of the Normans. The room was small, but there are bigger rooms available.
