About this property

Apartment/ flat - Palermo

(Text automatically translated) "A balcony on the market" in the heart of Palermo, a few steps from the eighteenth-century "Porta Carini", our home overlooks one of the oldest markets in the city: "The Chief" rich in history, monuments, art, folk tradition and generous and hospitable people, where lights, smells and colors blend into the air giving you the sensations typically Mediterranean. Walking in the market you will find numerous religious buildings such as the church of the Immaculate Conception (1604), S. Ippolito (1300), Church Holy Mary of Mercy (1400), and many other Baroque works. In a few minutes you can reach the most beautiful monuments of Palermo (, Teatro Massimo, Teatro Politeama, the Church of the Martorana, the Quattro Canti, the Royal Palace, the Cathedral), enjoy typical Sicilian cuisine and admire the windows of prestigious shops of the elegant Via Roma and Via Ruggero Settimo. Our apartment on the second floor (no elevator) of a building of the early 900 fully restored, is structured on two levels connected by an internal staircase and consists of 2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room room with kitchenette and a terrace.
The apartment is air-conditioned and features a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and a balcony. There's space to spread out with 2 bedrooms and a dining area. Guests can enjoy a TV and stay connected with free WiFi. The bathroom offers hair dryers and bidets. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, an electric kettle, and an ironing board. Housekeeping is available on request.

I had a wonderful time in Palermo ! Such nice place and great location. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The only things was the air conditioning that made quite some noise but unfortunately they let us know it would be fixed after our departure… I recommend and will comeback for sure on my next trip to Palermo

Amazing location literally above the Capo market which starts each day at 9:30. Very quiet at night. Surrounded by countless good restaurants. Huge apartment very well equipped. Keep windows closed at night however as mosquitoes are bad.

We only had one problem w our stay in Palermo @ Maurizio’s place - it was too short! The apartment is amazing! RIGHT in the middle of the Capo Market but you would never know it inside. It is VERY QUIET - and the bedroom dark so we slept beautifully - the bed is also extremely comfortable. Maurizio is a kind man and a great communicator - his restaurant recommendation (#1) on the list was a traditional and local dinner w a history worth knowing. The restaurant across the street became a favorite of ours w delicious fish and thoroughly welcoming owners and waiters. We felt immediately at home. Lastly, the apartment is centrally located - so easy to get to all the landmarks .. we HIGHLY recommend staying at this wonderful apartment.

Great location/ excellent stay

Property was very central to all attractions in Palermo. Just out the door to all the street eats you could ask for. Comfortable for all our needs. Excellent stay. A little confusing arrival since the property in on a non drivable street… tho part of the adventure. Host was very accommodating & good communication.

If you are looking for the full experience, this is it. Located on the historic Capo Market. Host and his wife are lovely and helped with taxi transportation. Apartment decor or beautiful antique heirlooms. The apartment is updated with all accommodation, just be aware that you need to climb 3 flights of stairs to get to it so pack light or be strong to carry luggage. In the heart of history and amazing adventure.

Large ancient apartment in the heart of capo

Gracious host and very clean apartment full of beautiful antiques. Right above the market. Be ware, you will have to walk and enter though an outdoor dining area while the market is open and stairs are very steep and hard to navigate with baggage.

Wonderful place to stay in beautiful Palermo!

Everything was great! The location is right above the market, so there is always something to watch. Upstairs it was very nice & quiet to sleep. The terrace has sun all afternoon, great to have a coffee when you want some quiet. Wifi was fast, kitchen, bathrooms well equipped. Couldn‘t have been better. Thank you!

Maurizio and his wife are very kind people. We're senior citizens and the steps to get to the apartment were more than we anticipated. Also, there is one room upstairs with a cooler. It only cools that one room. The cooling unit in the downstairs bedroom didn't work. Maurizio explained that we must empty the water from the cooler when it reaches a certain level. The trash must be removed daily after the fish market closes because you can't get to the outside trash bags until then. Be aware you're staying on a street that has a fish market directly outside of the apartment building. Once we were outside of the apartment, there were tables and chairs for people to eat right in front of the outside door. Perhaps Maurizio can ask that the table and chairs be pushed further back from the door.We left after two days because the combination of stairs and very limited cooling were uncomfortable for us. This may work for younger people. I can't recommend the property for older adults.

We loved this place. Our host, Maurizio, was very helpful and kind. The apartment is fully set up with everything you'd need in the kitchen and with laundry. There are 5 beds and two floors. The location is perfect for exploring Palermo. There's usually lots of parking on Via Amico Ugo Antonio. It's less than 5min walking from the place. It's 1 euro per hour but free after 8pm and for a period in the afternoon.

Porta Carini

We enjoyed our three weeks at this VRBO location. The descriptor was totally accurate about the facility, and watching the daily routine of the people working and visiting the market. The action started around 7 am but every day it was cleaned up and quiet by 3 pm. The apartment was within walking distance of the main attractions and many restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Mauricio was a gracious and helpful host e.g. providing a new toaster and coffee maker. Upon request. Awesome! Of note, and we don’t remember the descriptor of the apartment, but be prepared for stairs. It worked for us, but just so you know.

This flat is perfect if you want old italy. It is located at the entrance to the capo market - fruits and vegetables, coffee and limoncello, all manners of fried, sautéed and raw seafood, right outside your door. Authentic Italian cuisine - most don’t speak much english so you know it is authentic. Three blocks from the theater. Great location. The apartment has a cold air conditioner, comfortable bed and is well equipped in the kitchen and bath. In the evening the market is gone but the street is alive with music and locals eating and drinking, but the flat is so quiet at night. Great restaurants right out your door. The host was A, always answered my many questions promptly. There are many steps, so if you have mobility issues it is not for you but it was perfect for our group of two couples. Highly recommend.

Central location but ... dirty

The address was different to the one I was originally given by homeaway. And then different again by owner. Same street but different number 3 times! Very dirty mattresses dirty bathroom and kitchen sink Would not stay here again. Wish I’d not looked at mattresses or sofa under sheets. The dining chairs were filthy and worn out Not comfortable. Smelly bedroom especially. Great location and great people watching balcony but wouldn’t feel safe as lone traveller if arriving after dark.
