an extremely cool mix of rustic and retro (mid-century) vibe. A friendly and helpful staff and a great lounge with fabulous and inventive craft cocktails. Definitely recommend!
We had an awesome stay here. When I first booked I was debating between several more expensive places, including The Springs Hotel and Spa. Ultimately I decided to go for the lower price. I’m so happy we did because while in town I checked out a few of the contenders and they looked awful. Motel SOCO is in a great location with a great interior design. Very clean and good coffee in the morning. One of the best decisions I made that trip!
Loved the staff. All very nice. I got the impression that there was coffee in the rooms. Mine did not have any. Maybe some rooms do. My room description was "suite" but it was essentially the size of a regular hotel room, so that was a bit misleading. Other than that the room was clean and comfortable. Bed was nice. I did appreciate that they have mandatory quiet hours. I think I could have gotten a room with similar amenities for less, but this place has personality.
I stayed one night while traveling through Pagosa for work. Here's some things that potential guests may want to know: 1) This is not your typical Holiday Inn type hotel. Yes, the rooms (apparently) do not have any TVs, but to be honest it didn't matter much to me. The whole hotel has a very chill vibe and a rustic feel. A TV would have actually felt terribly out of place in those rooms. 2) The rooms are small but very cozy. Provided you know how to operate the portable heater (a little faux fireplace), it will definitely get VERY warm in your room. The beds are comfortable. 3) The place has a different vibe to it. It's relaxed and 420 friendly. It's a nice place to sit outside and enjoy the view of the mountains with a beer and a conversation. 4) You can watch the sunrise over the mountains because the lodge faces east. Highly recommended. 5) It's literally next to Highway 160, so it's noisy. Fortunately the hotel provides quite excellent earplugs for you. Use them. 6) AWESOME coffee in the morning. 7) The only problem I had was not the hotel's fault: the guests next to me were up and down a lot quite late at night, and I could smell their weed in my room. I wouldn't normally care except I had to be up very early the next day. 8) Finally, understand what you're getting with Hotel Soco. It's a rustic lodge type place with a low key vibe. It's a great roadside stop to just chill for a night if you're passing through.
Relaxed old style cottages.. The rooms are comfortable with a great view of the mountains. There is a nice pub style bar next to the office and a food truck next to the RV park. Makes for a happy laid back atmosphere. Each room has a front porch.
I'm driving cross country - at least 6 hours a day. Had difficulty finding the motel using the navigator on my phone. The motel is NOT where the phone took me so I had to call and backtrack. I had driven right past it. Was weary when I initially saw the hotel, but the staff were very friendly and the room was homey with NO TV or air conditioning!!! I was thinking, what was my wife thinking when she booked me this room? The room was refurbished nicely and VERY CLEAN. The woman at the check in counter was right ... leave the window open during the day and you'll have a nice breeze, but close the window before you go to bed because it'll get "chilly". By the morning I was wrapped up in my blanket, but, I had the best night's sleep since I left Long Beach 3 days ago! Highly recommended!
Cute room with lots of character and awesome staff!
I am so happy to finally have a great place to stay in Pagosa. We visit family a couple times a year, & have stayed all over Pagosa. I had accepted that I would never find a nice clean place in this small town. Thank you so much for being invested in the community & how much you care. This place is simple, clean, friendly, and everything you need. Plus they have great coffee (even harder to find).
