Marriott's Newport Coast Villas

I have stayed with Marriott in many different cities and several countries. I can truly say that this is one of my favorite Marriott properties. The views in and around the resort are beautiful, filled with the ocean and surrounding mountains. We were impressed by the service of the front desk and housekeeping staff. Everyone was more than helpful and friendly. We stayed in a two bedroom, two bath villa with a full kitchen in building 3400. While the view from our villa left much to be desired, we were able to walk right across the street from the courtyard of our building to the main building and had a perfect view of the ocean. The grounds were lush and the main area had several koi ponds and fountains along with plenty of seating areas. The resort seemed pretty full and there were lots of couples and families, however it was quiet at night. One day during our visit, we planned to hang by the pool for the first half of the day and go out later that afternoon. We went to the Catalina pool which was just the right size for a family with both a teen and a toddler. There was a live DJ, spinning pop, oldies and dance music. The resort also did several pool contests and other games to keep everyone engaged. We had so much fun, we ended up staying by the pool all day and nixed our other plans. While poolside, we ordered food from the La Vista Bar and Grille. They served typical bar fare, but the food was tasty, the drinks were good and the service was fast. We arrived to the pool late morning and did not have any problems finding seating for our family of five. We did notice that the pool did get crowded mid-afternoon and finding poolside tables and lounge chairs took some patience and creativity. We will definitely go back when we are in the area again.

Its rare I do a 5 star review. This one is warranted. My family and I visit a lot of resorts and I honestly can not think of anything I would change. Its probably the best managed resort I've experienced in years, and especially given the vast size of this property, it says a lot. Everything from check-in, the entertainment and service at the pool, the grounds crew, and shuttle service, was outstanding. Make sure to check out Crystal Cove when you make your visit!

We have stayed at this resort several times and it continues to be one of our favorites. It's a Marriott Vacation Club resort and all the rooms are spacious, two-bedroom suites with two full bathrooms, washer and dryer, kitchen and balcony, many with spectacular views of the ocean. There are also several pools of various sizes and plenty of kids activities. Price and availability are at a premium during the June - August months but once the kids go back to school, that frees up and, if your schedule is flexible, you can find great values for what you get.

We can't afford to own a home at the beach so we bought into this timeshare, we're an original owner, bought before they had even broke ground & they were operating presentations out of a tent. We come every year! There was only one year that we called in on the wrong day (because of leap year) & didn't get our dates. But since then we've gotten our preferred dates & our preferred buildings. Every year there have been improvements made to the villas & property which is good to see our operating fees are put to good use. This is our home resort & we love it so much we have never traded for another location. Thank you Marriott!

With two bedroom units and large bathrooms, these condos were a much needed delight on our last trip to Orange County. The level of service at check in was good, we stayed in an upper unit away from the main pool, so it was quite and relaxing. We made good use of the natural gas barbeques located near the upper pool and there is plenty of open space. The full kitchen and patio were great for cooking and eating. I even visited the pool bar and chatted with a friendly bartender who knew the area very well.

We've been owners here since the beginning. We reserve a year in advance. The room we have has a shower door that leaks out onto the tile, a dishwasher top rack that you have to wrestle in or out, beds that slope, and a couch that slopes towards the floor. No comfort here. Clearly an old room that hasn't been refurbished. Don't buy the timeshare hype. The only way you get great treatment is if you buy more (and more). You'll be told you need to upgrade to points and buy more to get the best rooms.

I love Newport Coast Villas! We try to go every year (or every other year at least). The grounds are massive so if you want to swim a lot request a room near one of the pools. The main pool is a lot of fun, but very crowded. Tuck around the back side of the pool (near the back of the second pool) and you can usually find a chair or two. Also, because of the size of the grounds, a wheelchair or stroller can be tricky to get around. Other than that, it is fantastic! Be sure to check out some of the daily activities and movies playing in the small theatre (next to the arcade). The activities are very low-key and laid back. Don't expect a lot of organization or structure. You're on vacation anyway so it's kind of nice. We like to finish the day off with a trip to the fire pits (you can even buy s'mores items at the marketplace--but it's marked up quite a bit). And don't forget to enjoy the fantastic views and relax!!

Have stayed at this property many times and have never been disappointed. All rooms are two bedroom, two bathroom apartments, the owners use the word Villa but I generally expect a Villa to be a freestanding building and these are three level buildings with several apartments on each level. This is a Marriott Vacation (Timeshare) property so expect children. Check-in is 4 pm and getting in earlier is like wining the lottery even if you are Gold Marriott and you own a timeshare at that property. Hence check-in is generally a slow procedure but there is free coffee to help pass the time. The "villas" are spacious, the main bedroom has a king size bed, large vanity area with spa bath and a separate shower (double) and toilet area. The second bedroom also has a double bed and sofa bed with a interconnecting door to a second bathroom (shower in bath). This bathroom also opens into the living areas. The kitchen is large with all the required facilities. The dining living area is likewise spacious with a table for 6. The lounge is also a sofa bed. There are TV's in both bedrooms and the living room. There is also a washer and dryer. Our apartment appeared to have been recently renovated and was in excellent condition. The property has all the facilities, both physical and organised, that you would expect at a "vacation" site. We did not use these facilities so I cannot comment on their adequacy etc. Located between Corona Del Mar and Laguna Beach the villas are sited on a hill about half a mile from the ocean. Many have extensive views over the ocean - unless you get a canyon or road view apartment. This is a massive site and when full, parking near your apartment can be a problem - we had to park up to 100 yards from our apartment many times, Whilst there is a "parking system", blue cards for guest and brown cards for visitors (who have to park in a specified area), this does not seem to be enforced as we found many "brown cards" in spaces near our apartment. We like this place for the big rooms and in-room facilities and we will continue to stay here. One must understand that it is a vacation property and in, or around, holiday times it will be full and full of children.

This a beautiful property on a beautiful coast. We stayed for several days on an Anniversary trip that was made all the more special because we chose to stay here for part of our vacation. The villas are spacious and luxuriously decorated. The large kitchen has everything you need...and then some. Although we only used it to reheat some leftovers and chill some wine, it would serve a family well for preparing meals. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony with coffee in the am and wine in the pm. The grounds are manicured and inviting. Although we had limited interaction with staff members, all were courteous and friendly. We hope to return!

Nice property along the Newport Coast. Units are being remodeled. If you come at the right time of year, not over run by crowds. Stay away from the main pool if you want a quieter pool experience. Good base for exploring the area.
