Overall a pleasant experience. The rooms are clean, spacious and well equipped with required amenities. The food is great. The lunch and dinner buffet have good spread and are quite reasonably prices. The hotel and restaurant staff were very courteous and helpful. One can expect a premium experience at a mid-range cost.
Was in Fortune club room no 102 . Loved the place . Great staff . The people at reception , F&B manager Vinod , Chef Raja are all praises . Superb interiors. Food is mind Blowing . Centrally located . Only minus is no view . Smooth check in & check out . Otherwise will recommend it to everyone .
Stayed here as part of a tour group for 2 nights. Our room was cosy, well decorated with comfy beds & pillows. Great walk in shower in a refurbished bathroom. Service was a bit hit & miss, although there was one chap in the Restaurant who was brilliant and really knew his job. The food was very good and well presented. No pool here , which is always a let down for me. No outdoor area where it was possible to order a drink and relax , admire the view or the gardens or read a book. The town was a short walk but personally we didn't see much to look at.
We conducted a wedding there 4 years back and everyone enjoyed it...thereafter if anyone visits ooty they take the nos and ensure they stay there atleast one night or have a meal there ...proud to have been associated with this hotel..
Stayed here for 2 nights on our tour. Outdoor area disappointing. Work is taking place in the hotel and my room seemed to be right below it so it was impossible to sit in it when we arrived mid afternoon as it was so noisey. The only area the staff could show me to sit outside was a small strip of “garden” between the hotel and the road. The food was good but there was some confusion over the pricing. The live music in the lobby was horrendous and we did ask him to quieten it down when we went to bed at night. No Wi fi in our rooms. The hotel is in a good position, easy to walk into town although there isn’t a lot of interest there, it’s very busy, dirty and noisey. The Rose Garden is just opposite though.
Went for weekend visit to OOTY.... Stayed at Fortune Sullivan Court, Its really nice and cool place...staffs are friendly, nice ride of 4 wheel motor cycle ...... live piano at the lobby....Rooms are nice...We had Buffet Break Fast - nice and big spread...
We booked the Fortune Hotel Sullivan Court only because there was no availability at the Taj Savoy, where we'd earlier had a truly memorable stay. However, this turned out to be a fairly decent choice - the room we stayed in was good sized and well furnished. The rose garden next door made for an excellent early morning stroll. Areas of improvement - no doorman or parking attendant available in the evenings. Food - though the selection of both buffet breakfast and dinner was good, the quality and service was vague - soup was stone cold, fish was twice fried and dripping with oil. Croissants and other rolls, doughy. Had to request multiple times before we could get fresh Indian breads - staff kept vaguely pointing towards the meagre selection laid out on the buffet table. Special thanks to Brito, who not only helped us with our bags but also gave us some excellent advise.
Large room, leafy views, and very good-looking interior lobby and bar/restaurant. Food was good, staff fine. But cheap plastic toilet seat, intermittent electric failure (don't use the hairdryer and fan heater at same time), safe not working and drilling/hammering all afternoon when trying to rest. Hmmm, 3 or 4 stars?
A short distance from the town with views across the town. This hotel is being renovated and has excellent bathroom facilities and good shower. The style is a cross between Spanish and Mexican . The hotel is in a quiet location but the noisy comes from within the hotel. The staircase and central lobby are all open and there is no carpeting to soak up noise . Consequently noise travels and the rooms are not as quiet as we would have liked. We stayed two nights and it was pleasant enough but could be improved with more sound proofing.
My wife & I are in a group touring the southern area of India from Chennai down: round and back up to Bangalore. Of our eleven hotels so far this is by far the least preferred. Not only, had we known better - and had the choice - would we have avoided this hotel but we would also have avoided the area altogether – road travel is hopeless (at best 5-10mph with hair pins bends and so much traffic, included masses of buses and lorries trying to pass each other in both directions). Once there, we found that there is a little of interest to the western tourist that cannot be experienced in many other areas of the state. Leaving the area early on a Sunday morning we found that traffic was not so bad. The Fortune looked impressive on entry but even the masses of smartly uniformed staff failed to lift the hotel to standards of others encountered, and we were not seeking a higher standard than one should expect for the location! Waiting for our room key, my wife found that the ladies facilities had no soap or hand drying equipment/towels and a hot tap that run constantly. Our room (115) with entrance on the first floor central level – please see reception area photo – was of a reasonable size and brightly coloured yellow and pink; The mini-bar had items missing; A pillow case was stained (see photo); The room had included Wi-Fi but was without internet connection – my request for help brought an ‘expert’ who agreed that it should be room-available, but was NOT (he said that he would sort-out their system) we never heard back from him / the internet was never available in our room, but was obtainable in the reception area. An unlockable window – until I sorted it out - offered a view similar to undergoing a prison sentence with a barbed-wire fence (please see photo, again) to a small outside green-area where ‘locals’ roamed eg brushing their teeth (yes ) and spitting out residue in full view. There was no air conditioning in our room. The noise at night time, due to our room positioning – very open to the reception area; in-turn adjacent to the restaurant and by the stairs – was not conducive to a good nights sleep – not when coupled with late refuse disposal sounds; the thin walls bringing loud conversations and alarm ringing into hearing. Then there was also some loud banging, heard by most of our group, at the 1am/2am mark. A request for a bed blanket, made before dinner and followed-up after, was only produced on a third request coupled with a demand to speak to the duty manager to obtain same. The half-roll toilet paper, in the bathroom, ran out and there was no back-up supply – something else experienced by other members of our group. It was replenished the next day, again with no back-up supplies! I believe that this is ‘enough said’ to give an idea of my personal opinion of this establishment. Ask me about the restaurant, if you like.
