We love the Green Hill Hotel in Onomichi. It is close to the main Arcade and dining options are numerous. We always went to the Cycle Hotel for breakfast, where you can get great pastries, coffee, and hot chocolate. The best okonomiyaki we ever had was in Onomichi at Cafe Murata, located a couple of arcades away. It's easy to take a cable car up the mountain and see the Onomichi City Museum of Art. The working harbor makes it worthwile to order a room on the harbor side.

Great location for srart the shimanami kaido cycling route. Clean and well maintained hotel. Excellent breakfast buffet with many choices of Japanese food. Friendly and polite staff. There have a forwarding luggage to your next hotel if you do a bike ride, cost 2,200 yen per suitcase. We got a habor view double room. We love the view. Small, but function room. Really clean. Good size of bathroom with all nice amenities. I was worried about the size of double bed for us, but it was actually comfortable than my expectations. Note on the AC, we don't think it worked or it was controlled by the center. You cannot adjust your room temperature to your likes. We stayed in 45F in an evening, it was quite warm. So we contacted the front desk, they came immediately to open the big window to let the fresh air in. There is an air fliter in our room. We would stay here again. Friendly and helpful staff, great location, excellent breakfast, and clean room.

I picked this due to location; easy walk from train station, Giant bike rental, and storage lockers, because we were doing the Shimanami Kaido ride, starting from Onomichi. The hotel itself is dated, but serviceable, and I am not knocking it because it worked well for us.

I was riding the Shimanami Kaido and the Green Hill Hotel proved to be an excellent place to stay for the start. First off, it’s location is perfect. Service was great and staff were extremely polite and helpful, as expected from Japanese hotels. Check-in was easy, as was having them arrange transport for my bags to my next hotel on Omisihima Island. Once in the room the hotel further impressed me. The room was decently sized for a Japanese hotel with a gorgeous view of the harbor. The AC provided blessed relief from the heat that had been lingering up until that day I was there as did two cups of tasty citrus snacks provided for free in the room. In the morning the breakfast buffet proved to be excellent, with plenty of options to choose from including delicious seafood, as expected from a seaside hotel. I would have happily stayed another night but I had a bike ride to do.

Excellent location just across the street from Onomichi station. The breakfast buffet had a variety of selections, and the staff were extremely hospitable. They were able to help me forward my luggage onwards to Osaka. I had booked a room with a sea view, and the view was excellent!!! Although I requested no room cleaning, the housekeeping staff still left a bag of fresh towels outside my door each day, along with bottled water and citrus jelly, a specialty of the region. Would definitely stay here again next time I’m in the area!
