Old Forge Vrbo

Overall the house was a good. Great location if you are interested in visiting downtown Old Forge without having to drive many places. Our only real issue was when we sat out on the porch, the neighbor with the fenced in yard was witnessed often saying weird things to passers-by, including some not nice comments towards one set of individuals. Overall, great place for to stay to visit the tourist side of the Adirondacks. Recommendation for those who stay: you may need a few more kitchen items as the kitchen is fairly stocked with cooking needs, but doesn't quite have a complete set of standard kitchen/cooking ware. The front door off of the porch the bottom lock, locks but the top deadbolt does not. The interior door off of the mudroom does not have a key that lets you in if you lock that when you are not in the home. Good options for internet, etc... to provide for the rainy days and later evenings. Two of the three rooms had AC upstairs which was nice for those who had the AC. Shower was good, hot water lasted for four individuals to get a quick shower one after the other. Parking can be a little tight and be cautious if you need to back out as traffic can become a little tough. Be aware that Old Forge as a lot of businesses that even during the height of tourist season, close at 5p. The Vrbo hosts were easy to get in contact with and helpful with all questions. Having availability to do laundry on-site was very helpful with two kids along for the trip. Nice place.

Comfortable cottage with convenient location

This cottage made for a fun and easy family get-away recently. It's conveniently located - close to shops, restaurants, movie theater, and the public beach in Old Forge, as well as hiking trails within walking distance or a short drive. Also very close to McCauley Mountain for skiing and mountain biking. The cottage was super clean from top to bottom. Check-in/out was easy and the owners were easy to contact if/when needed.

My wife and I travelled to Old Forge for a weekend in snow country. Our stay at the Guide Cottage served our needs well. It was clean and comfortable. It was within walking distance of downtown. Although not fancy, it had everything we needed at a very reasonable price.

Well let’s start out by when we get there the back door is unlocked. Once we are inside there’s a terrible smell not sure if it’s the garbage can or could be propane smell from stove. We set garbage can outside the next morning come back later that day smell still there!!! So it’s suppose to sleep six there’s only 3 towels to use ( I brought my own thank goodness) and the towels smell terrible not one of the four used them. We ended up leaving Saturday for a 21/2 drive home didn’t feel comfortable in house to stay another night.house needs lots of work!!!

We rented this house for the weekend of Snodeo in Old Forge. The house is conveniently located and is within walking distance to the restaurants and bars. We had a vendor booth at the Snodeo show so we didn't spend much time at the house but it worked out perfectly for what we needed. Communication with the host was excellent.
