Jamaica Inn

Jamaica Inn is a piece of Paradise in the midst of all the activities in Ocho Rios. It's close enough if you want access to the town or activities around but far enough away that you can be unaffected. It is peaceful, breathtakingly beautiful and the staff is wonderful.

We have traveled a lot for business and vacation and stayed in many very nice places. I would have to say that Jamaica Inn is unique and definitely a place that you should try.....although many of the visitors are beyond trying it out and are "serial repeaters" like us which I think says a lot about the property. Previous reviews speak to many of the things I would say that make this a place you should not miss so I will try to capture what we experienced in our very recent visit where this time we stayed in Room 18 and had a beautiful view of the quiet morning on the ocean and great sunsets. The owners and general manager were very engaged and attentive, service by everyone was outstanding, food was well prepared, with a lot of variety and the overall ambiance of this family owned property really is very special. The hotel will take care of any arrangements you need to go exploring the island and town but most people seem to be like we were which was very content to sip a rum punch, read some good books at the beach or on your room verandah, swim in the crystal clear Caribean and enjoy delightful meals on the terrace. And don't miss the spa: great treatments provided in gazebo rooms set on the bluff overlooking the ocean. We hope you enjoy your visit to the Jamaica Inn just like we did!

The Jamaica Inn is a delightful hotel, small, intimate and with a very relaxed atmosphere. It has been owned by the same family for well over 50 years and has nothing ‘corporate’ about it. We first went there about 16 years ago, then again in 2015 and have just returned from our 3rd visit. The beach is beautiful, with the sun beds dotted around it, not in rows, and with plenty of room for everyone. The rooms are not huge but that’s fine when, as we do, you spend all your time outdoors. The food is excellent by any standards, with the menu changing daily - it is innovative, well-cooked and very nicely presented. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and many of them have worked there for a long time, which says a great deal about what a good place it is to work: the staff feel great loyalty to the hotel and the hotel is loyal to its staff. We will definitely return there.

If you ever wonder what paradise looks like, look no further. Jamaica Inn is a wonderful place where you will relax, marvel and enjoy the true Jamaican culture. The hotel is boutique but with all the comforts that you can think of, it sits on a pristine beach and each person working there is absolutely lovely and will welcome you with a big smile. If you're lucky (as I was!) and it's the season, you'll be able to see and take part in helping the sea turtles in a lifetime experience. The hotel also offers options for any excursion/activity you might want to do. I LOVED it.

Jamaica Inn is a little piece of paradise, offering tranquility and luxury. I spent a long weekend there with my husband, relaxing and generally being spoilt by the friendly, attentive staff. The accommodation was spotless and the food exceptional. One of the nicest places to stay on the island. Thank you.

My wife and I had the most relaxing weekend spent amoungst friends and family celebrating the 40th earth year with a dear friend. The staff at Jamaica Inn are exceptional! Reception , Housekeeping, Restaurant, and All Management from day till night give 5 star service that come across effortless. Twelve years ago our friends were married there and to date nothing has changed, excellence in service and environment from you enter the gates!

I had the pleasure of spending the weekend of July 12-14, 2019 here. It was to celebrate my daughter’s 40th birthday. Accommodation, Birthday event was great. Staff were friendly and very helpful. I always look forward to coming here and hope to return real soon.

From the warm welcome, to the lovely verandah suite near the beach, our stay was close to the beach. Dinner on the terrace was lovely and breakfast on the verandah looking out to the sea was a great way to start the day. Jamaica Inn has kept its standards high - beautifully landscaped, impeccable room and bathroom and considerate touches like the large bowl on the porch to wash the sand from our feet. Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller honeymooned here!

Jamaica Inn is a magical place to restore and relax. My two happy places in all the world are on their verandah or in their hammock—both overlooking the ocean. I find myself longing to be there all year long. We returned for a second time this July thanks to the wonderful Tanya and Gerry in reservations who once again made it possible for us to stay in our favorite room on the ocean. My 11-year-old son observed how impactful the housekeeping team is in the success of the inn; as he said, they are the ones who make our living space clean and comfortable. There were Sadie and Smith working so hard to make everything perfect just like last year. They are like old, dear friends whom I enjoyed visiting with for a few minutes each day. This year we met Nardia and Kitty and were so impressed with their dedication to the inn and its guests. Robert in the restaurant is, as always, so caring in his gentle way. Always wanting to make sure we were happy. The food is delicious but we Americans have to adapt to the slower service when we are on island time; it was an adjustment for us. Delightful waiters like Romaine made sure we were taken care of. The beach is beautiful, peaceful and so fun to swim in! We always felt safe with our favorite lifeguard Marvin. We observed him rescuing a woman last summer and this year he was just as alert and active. Many people commented on how happy they were to see Shadow out and about this year and not penned up. He’s a sweet dog and was my son’s only playmate all week. Every day we enjoyed tea time and were appreciative of this complimentary offering. During the evening’s cocktail hour, Patrice always took care of us, remembering all the guests’ names and noting their favorite drinks. I would like to commend all the men who work so hard to make the whole premises clean and beautiful. We watched them working tirelessly in the heat for hours on end, always with a ready smile. All their hard work made for a pristine environment that I cannot wait to return to!

I just stayed at Jamaica Inn and I seriously can not say more wonderful things about this place. I rarely say I would go back to a place twice but I would for sure here. The staff is so kind and wonderful. The beach is GORGEOUS!!!! This is the perfect spot for a romantic quiet relaxing vacation! Also, say hey to Shadow the sweet resident black lab! He is just the sweetest!
