The location was great! Very close to the beach. The house needed a lot of work. It was not clean, there were several roaches, faulty door knobs and bathroom faucets. The outside deck lights would not come on. The kitchen floor was spongy and felt as it would fall through. wouldn't come

great location

First, the location was great. The porch picture doesn’t show the dunes in between the beach and the house which felt a little misleading. However the house is right next to a public access so it was still SUPER convenient to access the beach. And we really enjoyed that. For some the public access may not be ideal but since we were there in off season it wasn’t crowded. The house itself was clean, newly updated & well organized. However it reeked of cigarette smoke and gave us all headaches/sore throats and made our clothes smell. Which was rather frustrating. There was also a roach problem. We saw several large roaches & several small roaches both dead and alive during our stay. I did call and leave a message over the weekend to management and they called first thing Monday morning to ask if we wouldn’t someone to come spray. However we were already checked out & they made no apologies for the smell or the bug problem. I really feel like the owners wanted a clean/ great experience (based on the house furnishings and organization) and my guess is they would be disappointed in the smell and bugs. Overall we would return to oak island but would not book this house again.
