Nice stay with the family but our ‘family room’ was simply a standard room with 2 single beds crammed in!! Stayed here alone with work on a previous occasion in the same size room. Apart from that, stay was fine.

Our first impressions were positive—an impressive old hall nestled in the peaceful English countryside near Eastwood. The setting is charming and tranquil. We chose the prepaid buffet breakfast option for our four-night stay, which we later regretted. I follow a gluten-free diet, so a traditional cooked English breakfast is usually a safe and satisfying choice. Unfortunately, regardless of what time we arrived, the food was consistently overcooked and greasy. The fried eggs were particularly unpleasant—hard, wrinkled, and swimming in oil. We raised the issue with management, but there was no improvement the following day. As a result, we didn’t bother reporting other concerns, as it seemed pointless to spend more time waiting in reception to speak with someone. That said, the property isn’t without its merits. The gym is well-equipped, and the pool is suitable for lane swimming. However, the entire place feels vast and stuck in a bygone era. In hindsight, four nights felt far too long.

Rooms are nice, the only thing i can criticise is the difference in price of standard and superior, in superior you get a dressing gown and a few complimentary drinks and snacks,in standard you don't,but the price difference for my stay was around £70 more for superior than standard. I thought the price was a bit extreme just for a few cheap extras

Nice Hotel - Poor Service

This hotel has the possibility to be excellent. The facilities are great. Unfortunately the food is poor, (I am still waiting for the vegetarian sausages I requested at breakfast!) and my main course at dinner never arrived either. Meals with breakfast charged at £16.95 and dinner at £39.00 are overpriced and underwhelming. The service is stretched too. I was there for a business event and had no choice but to stay at this hotel.

Lovely stay

Stayed for an event that was happening at the hotel. Room was really clean with a comfy bed. Internet was easy to access on multiple devices and room service options were great but would have been even better if drink options were also made clear.

Slightly disappointed.

We payed extra for a superior double room and was extremely disappointed when we looked at our friends in room which she was in a normal double room which cost her quite a bit less and it was the same except for a couple of dressing gowns and some tiny cans of soft drinks,we certainly won’t be booking a superior room next time as it’s not worth the money.

My favourite place to relax.

I stay here regularly for work trips and it is always a pleasure. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the room is always spacious and clean and the food is spot on! I also love being able to use the leisure facilities and make the time to go for a swim. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing and there is always plenty of car parking available too. I always recommend Eastwood Hall to my colleagues when we travel to Ilkeston for meetings and training.

Lovely room amazing breakfast and choice. Was busy at breakfast time but plenty for all. Rooms was very clean and update. Could do with air conditioning. Lovely pool again very busy at times. Steam room small. Just overall busy but nice hotel.

Weekend Stopover.

Dipped in to Derby to visit relatives on the way back from holiday and stayed Fri to Mon at Eastwood Hall. Beautiful location, lovely grounds, clean and spacious room (one of the bath robes was grubby but nit picking). Lots of secure parking, very friendly front of house staff and housekeeping were really on the ball. We will definitely stay again when next down that way.

Great place if you want a weekend away as for a business trip not so good lots of people blocking the entrance Was given directions to my room a long way from the reception after hauling my luggage and work stuff back to the room I found out there was another car park closer to my room which I was not made aware of Also no information was given about breakfast times ect It wasn’t the staff problem the poor girl was rushed off her feet

Birthday weekend away

After a very chaotic Saturday night with other people staying in the hotel partying until 4am . The management were very helpful in dealing with this issue and provided me and my partner with a free evening meal as an apology the following night . Staff were friendly and the food was beautiful. Would definitely stay again

Best Breakfast and Service

We had a really good stay at this hotel, the breakfast was one of the best we've had, the best selection and very tasty. The evening meal was also beautiful, can't fault any of the food. Family room was large and huge bed, but disappointed in the lack of air conditioning and the shower quality. It was a bit disappointing hearing one of the waitresses at the breakfast entrance talk to the younger staff in a very rude manner. Bit of a chip on her shoulder as all the staff who we seen cleared the plates quickly and refreshed all the food in good time. Probably the best service I've seen at breakfast. Only other small gripe was the child's pool times, extremely restricted, so please check this if your going with children and have a busy schedule. We would certainly return to the hotel.
