Central location, friendly professional staff and comfortable room. From check-in to check-out, this was a great experience. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and helpful with additional information. Walking distance to the town centre.
We had 2 nights at Hotel Gateway as we travelled to Devonport for a conference. The room was comfortable, convenient and clean. We had a continental breakfast at the Restaurant which was adequate but did not eat dinner there.
Business stay. My room was large and clean. The heating was very warm even on low. I asked receptionist if it could be turned to cooling as this is centrally controlled. However despite numerous attempts this wasn't possible. So I turned the system off and opened the window. The rest of the room was clean and bathroom large and functional. I wasn't offered a different room only told that they would put the room into maintenance once I left. Sleep was average at best as window open so road noise etc was disturbing. Was assured at checkin that the meeting room that was booked had been allocated. However, it became apparent that no meeting room was allocated the next morning. A room was hastily arranged. Half way through the meeting a staff member came in and asked how long we would be? Bit off putting and rude we were also disturbed by workmen/contractors walking through the room. This is very unprofessional and for a business that is front and centre in the tourism industry a very poor reflection on its management and staff
Comfy, everything I needed , except a gym. Restaurant very nice, quick an easy check in/ out . Parking convenient . Well located to town and easy to get to highway if heading back to Latrobe or Burnie.
Short business trip. Didn't sleep that well but otherwise couldn't complain. Meals looked to be very appetizing, breakfast service a little slow. Close to everything in the area and easy to access at any time of day
This hotel is well situated & has great staff. It was unfortunate that the two nights I stayed in the hotel they had a number of rowdy party's booked in. This lead to 4.00am screaming in the hallways, banging doors etc. The rooms were well looked after & clean. Very comfy bed & clean bedding. The "BIG" breakfast was fantastic value for money.
I am a frequent customer to this hotel due to work. There is not much choice (yet) in Devonport but I believe that there is a boutique hotel underway. The staff at the Gateway are really helpful and booking in and out is efficient and friendly. The rooms are clean and housekeeping is of a good quality. I have stayed a few nights over the last few weeks. I am vegetarian and had their chickpea curry which I would rate a 1 out of 10. On the second night I was tired and decided not to eat in the restaurant so asked if I could have an omelette (just a simple egg in a frying pan with some cheese and tomato). The person taking my order said "NO" . I asked to speak to her manager who in the background was telling her staff member that I could have a stir fry but nothing else. I said that I did not want a stir fry and that I was a frequent customer. Could I please have an omelette when she said no that I could only have a stir fry. I stated that in the time she had had this conversation with me the request could have been delivered. I only write this as we obviously still have a long way to go in the tourist experience. Why have a resturant open for dinner if they can't cook a basic egg dish. The restuant was not busy so I just don't get it. I said 'did they want me to order from outside (another resturant) for my meal' and that appeared okay to them. Come on lift your game. You are in a customer servce industry please act like it.
Love the place. Convenient to town centre. Great meals and bar. Excellent service. Nice clean updated rooms. Quite even with pokies below. Easy Parking. highly recommended when lloking for accomodation in Devonport.
Very nice place to stay and would recommend to other people. Good views, nice people and good food. I would recommend they change the bed in the unit I stayed in as it was hard and uncomfortable. Other than that I would give 5 stars.
Nice motel, very handy to Devonport CBD and Spirit of Tasmania docks. Staff friendly and down to earth. Rooms clean and comfortable with supporting amenities (bar, dining area) that are in good order. Would definitely stay there again.
