What a lovely spot. The flowers outside the pub are colourful, beautiful and well tended - and the warmth of the welcome inside reflected the same ethos. Very good value, lovely room and the food and wine both excellent and well priced. We had both an evening meal and breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed them. The bedroom was a little chilly in the early evening and morning and that would be the only reason it fell short of 5 stars. I will return.
Stayed at the Blacksmith Arms Inn over the weekend of the Scarborough Goldwing Light Parade. This is an excellent stop off pub and the staff are all friendly. The restaurant food is excellent also and very well presented. This pub offers everything you will need to have a relaxing break.
Having had many meals over the past few years and have been very satisfied with the whole experience I must say now that they are getting rather pricey and the quantity appears to have been reduced. Rather lacking in the vegetarian options.
Just returned from a two day break at this pub near Scarborough , what can I say, absolutely great stay. Room was lovely, warm, very clean, newly decorated, comfy and quiet. Food brilliant , had two evening meals both exceptional. Breakfast was one of the nicest we have ever had, perfect. Well stocked bar, very friendly and helpful staff. They have a great offer on for dinner bed and breakfast in October, don't miss it. Ideal location for visiting Scarborough or Whitby . Will definitely be back.
This was a delight we went on a Thursday lunch myself, wife and 2 grand children.the staff were extremely freindly and attentive. The Inn is superbly decorated, clean and full of brasses and copper. The menu was first class not too big and the food was plentifull and very nicely cooked. Shall definitley go again next time we are at our caravan in Burniston. Well done
This was certainly more than just pub grub. Our meal had good restaurant quality written all over it. We are local and have never been to the Blacksmiths before. After this first visit I'll definitely be going again.
Ate here one night whilst staying locally. This is a nice pub if going for food or just a pint. Bar is welcoming and comfortable, landlord and staff good and efficient. Had food in restaurant and food is very good, and reasonable value, staff helpful and an overall good experience. Recommended!
Having read good reviews for this accommodation we were looking forward to our weekend away, the sun was shining and the hanging baskets were blooming. We were given a room in the outside block along with friends who were staying there too. We had a short time scale as we were doing a bag drop and going off to a wedding and would not be returning until late. Upon entering the room it smelled of drains. All the windows were open. I checked the bathroom and at eye level on the deep windowsill the toiletries were located along with 2 huge cobwebs complete with spiders and a death moth - how lovely. The carpet was in need of a vac as there were bits on the floor. Sadly not a great first impression. The bed was comfy. The room is small. Tea making facilities provided. Very nice breakfast. When I went to check out, I told the owner I was not impressed by the cleaning and paying £120 a night I expected more, is this too much to ask for ? He was quite incredulous at first, then I showed him the photo. I suggested he came to look at the room, he brought along another member of staff who suggested that the webs were spun overnight - erm .... no ... this was actually on check in at which point the room should have been spotless. Our friends room also had the drain smell and because of the wardrobe location she bumped her arm several times in the night. Excuses were made and I made a few suggestions also. Needless to say we will not be returning, even Premier Inn is cleaner and cheaper. However, the owner did offer a small reimbursement which was kind. Such a shame as the other reviews were good. The WIFI does not stretch to the breakfast room let alone the external rooms.
Been here several times in the last few years and it never disappoints. Always good value and quality real ale (or pot of tea) and food. Landlord and staff friendly without being intrusive. Will certainly return!!!
Our two nights at The Blacksmiths Arms were great... very comfortable room, great meals and top breakfast. Perfect location for visiting Scarborough and Whitby (car or bus) plus some lovely walking nearby or even directly from the hotel. Plenty of parking space, friendly staff, reasonable prices and on the whole a very enjoyable stay.
