Nice Stay

I was hesitant to stay after reading the last review of bedbugs, but considering we’ve stayed at North Beach Resort several times, I trusted their word that the room was exterminated and clear of bedbugs. The room was in fact clear of bedbugs and we stayed without problems. The unit is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It could use more cookware, but we definitely made do with what was available. I loved that they had box fans in each room although we bring our own anyways. The large 8 seater table was perfect for our group. The view is stunning and they have plenty of chairs on the balcony. The ice maker makes ice but won’t dispense, but we just used a cup to retrieve the ice from the ice bin. The vacuum handle is broken and because of this makes it difficult to use. Most people won’t care about that, but I clean each day as if it’s my house while I’m there and when we depart, so this was a tad inconvenient. The only complaint I’d have is the cleanliness. This is not unit specific but in general of each room we’ve ever stayed in at the resort. It’s a direct reflection of the cleaning staff and not the individual owners. I always have to go in and take my own cleaning supplies clean the kitchen and the bathrooms. I have to sweep really well because there’s always a lot of sand. I don’t think they ever mop and it just feels icky so I always have to go behind them and clean. As far as unit I would definitely stay again.

I give this property 2.5 stars and here’s why. 1. The booking and check in process was clear and smooth. The staff on the phone and at the desk were friendly at check in. 2. The room we booked was beautiful. It was updated and staged nicely. Excellent view and clean hallways. Unfortunately, the master bedroom has bedbugs and the cleanliness of the unit was not up to par. You can tell the cleaning staff did the bare minimum. Due to the bed bugs, we had to change units. The 2nd unit didn’t have beg bugs but there was black mold around the vents and dead bugs smeared on the walls. The refrigerator was dirty and the furniture was old. The 3rd unit had carpet and smelled like mold. Terrible decor and completely outdated. We didn’t get a proper room until the next day around 11am. Unfortunately that room was still dirty but it was now my birthday and I needed somewhere for my family to stay. We decided to keep that room and clean it ourselves. The smoke detectors went off EVERYTIME we used the stove. The kitchen had a few roaches. The unit was dusty. The balcony had a carpet that was peeling back. There were beer cans under the master bedroom’s bed. 3. The common areas like the pools and restaurants were clean and family friendly. We had a great time at the pool. They had a swim up bar which gave a tropical experience. Loved it. Easy access to the beach. 4. Parking was available and you’ll always find a spot. My only con was I wished they had more handicap parking spots downstair.
